Abstract

This study investigates the chemical composition, antioxidant potential, and thrombolytic activity of the methanolic leaf extract of Ricinus communis L. Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis revealed the presence of diverse bioactive compounds. A phytochemical examination of Ricinus communis L revealed the presence of flavonoids, phenol, carbohydrates, tannin, glycoside, and alkaloids. In this investigation about 61 compounds were found in this extract. This plant exhibited thrombolytic activity, with an output of 77.03%, compared to the usual streptokinase value of 76%. Additionally displayed is the antioxidant activity (IC50=9.072), which is contrasted with the standard ascorbic acid (IC50=17.937). It represent the analytical Mean ±SD data for flavonoid, tannin & phenol was 366.65, 128.01 & 184.22 respectively. More compound separation is necessary to validate the effects of particular compounds. These findings suggest that the methanolic leaf extract of Ricinus communis L. holds promise as a natural source of bioactive compounds with potential therapeutic applications in oxidative stress-related ailments and cardiovascular disorders. Further research is warranted to elucidate underlying mechanisms and optimize its utilization in pharmaceutical and nutraceutical sectors.
