Abstract
Every time he puts pen to paper, said takes up scholarly, moral and political responsibilities of one kind or the other. Said's intellectual commitments, in fact led him towards developing groundbreaking methodologies in Orientalism and culture and Imperialism in order to resist narrow cultural compartmentalization and to advance 'coexistence' and dialogue' among peoples from different cultural backgrounds. In orientalism, said's methodology is a re-appropriation of the identity, that is 'the other'.
