Abstract
This paper proposes a model for the stability of a power system but using a new form of FACTS controller known as PWMSC (pulse width modulation based series compensator). It changes the reactance of the transmission line by using a bank of capacitor which are controlled with the change of duty cycle. This technique is verified by computer simulation of a single machine power system with PWMSC controller. MATLAB was used for both the simulation and optimization.
