Abstract
The experiment was conducted in the research farm of Horticulture Department and
Laboratory of Agricultural Chemistry, Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology
University, Dinajpur, Bangladesh, during the period November, 2016 to March, 2017 to
find out the performance of garden pea under different concentration of NAA as plant at
different stages of leaf. The experiment consisted of two factors: Factor A: Four different
growth stages of garden pea viz. L1: Two leaf stage, L2: Four leaf stage, L3: Six leaf stage
and L4: Full blooming stage. Factor B: Four levels of NAA viz. H0: 0 ppm of NAA
(control), H1: 25 ppm, H2: 50 ppm and H3: 75 ppm. Vegetative growth, yield, yield
contributing characteristics, and quality parameters were studied in this experiment. Due
to the leaf growth stages, the longest plant height (90.00 cm at 60 DAP), maximum number
of pod plant-1 (9.35) and highest yield of pod ha-1(22.41 t ha-1) and yield contributing
characters was recorded from the treatment of Six leaf stage that is (L3). From the
experiment it was also revealed that, the longest plant height (114.04 cm at 60 DAP), the
maximum number of pod plant-1 (11.49) and highest pod yield (22.10 t ha-1) and other yield
contributing parameters were recorded form 75 ppm NAA (H3). Due to the leaf growth
stages, highest amount of Vitamin-C content (25.45 mg/ 100 g), highest amount of
potassium content (239.21 mg/ 100 g) and maximum percentage of protein content
(8.98%) were recorded from the treatment of Six leaf stage that is (L3). For the application
of NAA, the highest amount of Vitamin-C content (27.64 mg/ 100 g), highest amount of
Potassium content (237.44 mg/ 100 g) and maximum percentage of protein content
(9.88%) were recorded from the treatment of 75 ppm NAA (H3). The treatment
combination of L3H3 performs the highest pod yield (24.09 t ha-1). So, growth of the six
leaf stage + 75 ppm NAA is the suitable combination for the highest yield of garden pea
cv. BARI Motorshuti-2.
