Abstract

A cross-sectional study was conducted to estimate the hospital-based prevalence of different clinical diseases and disorders in dogs and cats at a hospital. A total of 200 (dogs, 28%, and cats, 72%) were observed during (7-21) October, 2024. Recorded cases were distributed by age, sex, and breed. Male pets had more cases (dog 69.6%, cat 61.1%) than female cases. Young pets had greater cases (dog 39.3%, cat 37.5%). Local indigenous dogs had more cases (17.9%). Persian cats had more cases (62.5%). Infectious diseases were more in dogs (53.5%) than in cats (46.5%). Among infectious cases, in dogs (N=30), dermatitis was common (19.6 %), followed by maggot infestation (10.7%) and dog bite (8.9%). Among cat cases, High Rise Syndrome (HRS) were more frequent (10.4%) followed by dermatitis (9.0%), gastritis and Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) was (6.3%), maggot infestation and Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) was (4.9%) and lordosis (4.2 %). These findings might be helpful to offer disease-specific management and treatment to pet owners.
