Abstract

A field experiment was conducted at the Agronomy Research Field, Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Dinajpur during the period from December, 2016 to April, 2017 to evaluate the effect of potassium (MoP) fertilization rate and gibberellic acid on the growth and yield of Binasoybean-4. Three doses of potassium level (K1= 90 kg MoP ha-1 , K2= 110kg MoP ha-1and K3=130kg MoP ha-1) were used as a factor A and three concentration level (G1=0.0 ppm, G2= 100 ppm and G3=200 ppm) of GA3 were used as a factor B. Two factorial experiments were laid out in the RCBD design with three replications. Growth, yield contributing characteristics, and yield of Binasoybean-4 were significantly influenced by different doses of potassium and GA3. Individual application of different levels of potassium fertilizer and gibberellic acid showed significant effect on growth, yield and yield attributes studied. The highest plant height, number of branches plant-1 , pod length, 1000-grain weight, grain yield, biological yield and harvest index was observed from K3 and the highest number of pod plant-1 and numbers of grain pod-1 were observed from K2. On the other hand, the lowest plant height, numbers of branches plant-1 , number of pod plant-1, length of pod, number of grain pod-1, 1000-grain weight, grain yield, stover yield, biological yield and harvest index were obtained from K1. Among the different concentrations of GA3, maximum parameters such as number of pods plant-1, pod length, 1000-grain weight, grain yield, biological yield and harvest index were obtained the best from G2. The highest grain yield (1.97 t ha-1) was found at the concentration of GA3 at G2. The lowest grain yield (1.63 t ha-1) was gained at G1. The maximum grain yield (2.37 t ha-1) was acquired at the treatment combination of K3G2 and the minimum (1.64 t ha-1) was recorded under the treatment combination of K1G1. The present study revealed that increasing the level of potassium and GA3 would be applied for enhancing the yield attributes as well as yield of Binasoybean-4 variety.
