Abstract

Canine anaplasmosis is a tick-transmitted rickettsial disease caused by Anaplasma platys, usually detected as basophilic inclusions in the platelets of thrombocytopenic dogs. Here, a clinical case of A. platys infection has been described in a female Rottweiller dog of 2.5 years of age which was brought in the TTPHRC with a history of fluctuated temperature of around 95.5- 1030F, the urine was yellowish with blackish feces, inappetance, depression, lethargy. Giemsa-stained microscopic blood smear and haematological examination showed the presence of Anaplasma sp. The case was successfully treated with doxycycline and clindamycin, along with other supportive therapy. The dog recovered successfully after 12 days of treatment.
