Abstract

A study was carried out at Al Aqsa Poultry Farm in Satkania, Chattogram to monitor the management of housing, feeding, lighting, production performance, disease control methods and mortality rate of 6007 HY-LINE brown layer chickens raised in cages from April 21, 2024, to May 18, 2024. The mortality rate, body weight gain, feed intake, and egg production % of the farm's observed layer birds were compared to the standard level during the study period. The standard level indicates that between 54 and 57 weeks of age, the percentage of HY-LINE brown eggs produced is between 88 and 92%. However, the observed percentages of Hen day egg production (%HDEP) in that farm were 83.48%, 79.96%, 79.07%, and 81.76% and Hen housed egg production (%HHEP) in that farm were 82.89%, 80.26%, 79.04%, and 81.59% respectively between 54 to 57 weeks of age. So the average hen day egg production was 81.07% and the average hen housed egg production was 80.95% from 54th to 57th weeks of age of the hens. The peak hen day egg production and hen housed egg production achieved at 54th week of age which were 83.48% and 82.89% respectively. Again, it was discovered that the mortality rates in that farm were, respectively, 0.14%, 0.48%, 0.12%, and 0.57% at the ages of 54, 55, 56, and 57 weeks. The standard level is 0.12%, which is lower than the results, with the exception of the 56th week's result. The daily feed intake ranges from 100 to 111 grams, which is nearly identical to the recommended amount. The standard limits for weight gain is 1.950 kg, 1.960 kg, 1.960 kg, and 1.960 kg per bird at the ages of 54, 55, 56, and 57 weeks respectively; the weight gain of the birds at that farm was 1.89 kg, 1.90 kg, 1.91 kg, and 1.93 kg, which is nearly equal.
