Abstract
Cancer is a global problem which has widespread occurrence and profound effects on people all over the world. With millions of new cases being identified each year, it is one of the major causes of mortality. Anticancer agents are of utmost importance as they play a crucial role in cancer management. Thiazolidinone is a privileged scaffold that has demonstrated antineoplastic potential. However, there have not been many reviews devoted to discussing its chemistry yet. In this thesis, the types, SAR, and synthesis of thiazolidinone derivatives are investigated. It includes a summary of novel thiazolidinone derivatives, such as those with substitutions on the thiazolidinone ring and different heterocycles e.g. benzothiazole. The substituent impacts are highlighted by SAR investigations and their anticancer effects are shown by testing against cell lines in the literature. Lastly, this thesis advances the hunt for more effective therapeutic options by offering insightful information on thiazolidinone-based antineoplastic drugs.
