Abstract

An experiment was accomplished at 2a Biotech lab, Dept. of Horticulture, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka, during August, 2017- July, 2018. Four LED light treatments viz. T 0 : White; T 1 : White + Blue; T 2 : White + Red; T 3 : White + Blue + Red were used in this experiment. The experiment was laid out in a Completely Randomized Design with three replications. In case of tomato, the highest plant height (172cm) was observed from (T 1 ) treatment, the maximum leaf number (122) from (T 3 ) treatment, the highest leaf area (115.2 cm 2 ), 1 st flowering (32 days), flower cluster (22), flower/cluster (22), 1 st fruiting (36 days), fruit/cluster (16), fruit length (44.3 mm), fruit diameter (25.6 mm), brix (3.6%), fruit number (117), fruit weight (9.88g) and yield/plant (1.0 kg) were found from (T 3 ) treatment where minimum were found in T 0 treatment. In case of brinjal, the highest plant height (83.60 cm) was found from T 1 treatment, the maximum leaf number (23), leaf area (455 cm 2 ), branch no. (5.0), fruit length (26.2 cm), fruit breadth (6.8 mm), fruit number (35.52), single fruit weight (90.5g) and yield/plant (2.34 kg) were observed from (T 3 ) treatment while the lowest value in these parameters were found from T 0 treatment . So, the vegetative growth of tomato and brinjal under T 1 treatment and reproductive growth under T 3 treatment were found better.
