In recent studies, researchers can easily record the
dc.description.abstractbehaviors of animals by digital video cameras, which provide
dc.description.abstracthigh functionality at reasonable cost. However, it is a laborious
dc.description.abstractand time-consuming manual task for them to extract the useful
dc.description.abstractbehavioral data from these videos. We recently proposed a
dc.description.abstracttracking method for unmarked multiple honeybees in a flat
dc.description.abstractarena, named the “K-Track” algorithm. The algorithm can
dc.description.abstractsuccessfully identify and track nearly 90% of interaction cases of
dc.description.abstracttargets. In this study, we proposed an improved method for the
dc.description.abstractexisting K-Track algorithm by tracking results using backwardplay
dc.description.abstractmovie. If the tracking results differed between the forward
dc.description.abstractand backward episodes, one of them had probably resulted from
dc.description.abstractcorrect tracking. Therefore, by comparing the forward and
dc.description.abstractbackward trajectories of the same interaction, we assumed that
dc.description.abstractthere is the potential for an increase in tracking accuracy. In the
dc.description.abstractexperiments, K-Track using backward movies successfully
dc.description.abstracttracked four out of five situations that was failed by original KTrack
dc.description.abstractand we confirmed that the method has the potential of
dc.description.abstractimproved tracking accuracy.
