Abstract

ABSTRACT The main purpose of the study was to determine the extent of adoption of brinjal production technologies by the farmers. Attempts were made to explore the relationships between the selected characteristics of farmers and adoption of selected technologies. Data were obtained from 100 randomly selected farmers from a total of 500 in Betgari union under Gangachara upazila in Rangpur district during 10 August to 10 September 2020 with the help of an interview schedule. Appropriate scales were developed in order to measure the variables. Correlation test was used to ascertain the relationships between the concerned variables of the study. The findings revealed that, majority (67 percent) of the farmers had medium adoption while (18 percent) had low adoption and (15 percent) had high adoption of selected brinjal production technologies. Correlation analysis indicate that among the selected characteristics of the farmers, education, family size, farm size, annual family income, farming experience, extension contact, training exposure and organizational participation showed significant positive relationships with the adoption of brinjal production technologies. On the other hand, age and Cosmopoliteness of farmers did not show any significant relationships with their adoption of brinjal production technologies.
