Abstract
An experiment was conducted in the experimental field of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural
University, Dhaka. Bangladesh during the period I Ioni June to November 2007 to
study the influence of the seedling age and number of seedlings hilt' on the
perfonimnee of BRRJ dhan44. The experiment comprised three seedling ages (20, 30
and 40 days and four levels of number of seedlings hilt' (I, 2, 3 and 4 seedlings
hill4
). The experiment was laid out with two factor Randomized Complete Block
Design with three replications. The highest tiller (17.96 hilt'), filled grains (92.25
panicle1
), grain yield (5.52 t hi'), straw yield (5.94 t hi') was shown by 30 days old
seedling. Likewise, two seedling hilt' showed the highest plant height at harvest
(85.76
cm), effective tillers hilt' (12.63), filled grains (89.03 paniclej, grain yield
(5.36 t hi') and straw yield (5.87 t hi'). The interaction treatment of two 30 days old
seedling hilt' showed the highest effective tillers (13.99 hilt'). filled grains (93.74
paniel&'), grain yield (5.95 t hi') and straw yield (6.181 hi').
