Abstract
There is much of information on vitamin D's importance in bone metabolism, but less is
known about how it affects other organs or systems. Vitamin D is receptor is found in the
kidney, pancreas, prostate, gut, platelets, and immune cells where it is synthesizing 1-
hydroxylase enzyme showing that it is actively connected in these cell populations and
disorders related to them. Diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, Behcets diseases, osteoporosis,
allergic disease and renal dysfunction. The frequency of genotype and alleles of various VDR
polymorphism with such disorders in Egyptian, Tunisian, Caucasian, Asian, German, Spanish
and some other European population has proved to be connected. The only suggested
treatment to maintain the homeostasis of Vitamin-d to regulate normal VDR activity is
vitamin D supplementation though more research work should be done focusing VDR
polymorphism related diseases and their treatment.
