Abstract

The study was conducted to observe the care and management and production performances of Cobb 500 broiler parent strain at Himaloy poultry and hatchery at Manikchary, Khagrachary district. The study was undertaken on 5000 parent stock broiler breeder for a period of 30 days from January 01, 2013 to January 30, 2013. Observe farm management including housing, feeding, watering, lighting, litter management, debeaking, deworming, vaccination, daily routine work of farm, record keeping and bio-security. The average observed body weight of Cobb 500 male birds at 30th, 35th , 40th , 45th , 50th weeks were 2089gm, 2204gm, 2265gm, 2215gm ,2295gm respectively. The average body weight of Cobb 500 female birds at 30th , 35th , 40th , 45th, 50th weeks were 1837gm ,1925gm, 1930gm, 1991gm, 1965gm respectively .The production average observed hen day egg production of the flock at 30th , 35th, 40th , 45th, 50th weeks were 81.51%, 83.75%, 75.58%, 77,26%, 74.25% respectively. The average hatchability observed at 30th ,35th ,40th ,45th ,50th weeks were 82.25%,85.63%,87.26%,89.79%,85.70% respectively. From the analysis of data it can be said that there are very insignificant amount of differences between the observed data and recommended data .Therefore it may be inferred that Cobb 500 performed well under the existing management system.
