Abstract
United Commercial Bank PLC Limited (UCB) Limited is one of the pioneer financial
companies in Bangladesh. This organization organizes different types of training and
development programs to increase its employees’ performance for achieving better output.
United Commercial Bank PLC spends a huge amount on its training sessions, which is not an
expense but an investment for securing better returns.
The bank arranges training and development programs at different levels. For senior officers,
the bank sometimes sends them abroad to join various types of seminars and training sessions
organized by banking institutions. Junior officers and fresh recruits receive training from the
bank’s own training institute, which is located in Dhaka. All training sessions are coordinated
and managed by the United Commercial Bank PLC Limited (UCB) head office.
These training sessions help identify the strengths and weaknesses of employees and provide
them with ways to improve. This enables employees to better understand how to achieve the
company's goals.
However, some trainees may not be initially interested in attending training programs. The
importance of these programs must be clearly explained to the employees to motivate and
encourage their participation. This will help employees understand and contribute to
organizational goals more effectively. Without this buy-in, the training initiatives may fail to
achieve their intended outcomes.
