Abstract

A field experiment was conducted at the Horticulture Farm of Sher-e-Bangia Agricultural University, Dhaka, Bangladesh during October 20 1,8to March 2019 '110 study the effects of variety and different: doses of ethrel on the growth and yield of squash ..The experiment 'had two factors (Varieties: VI ~ GS~l, V2 - Cherub and V3 ::: Cheonlima and different doses o:f ethrel: ,Eo::: ,0'ppm (control) EI ::: 25'0 ppm and E2 ::: ,5,0[0ppm), The experiment was laid lout in the Randomized Complete- Block Design with three replications, Significant variations were observed for most of the studied traits. as influenced by different varieties levels of ethrel and their interaction tOIO" But in case of Dumber of leaves and stem diameter at 15 D'AT the. ,',,_, _' _' __ ,' _ ,_', '_' ,_," , "_"'_ ,',' '_' __ '_,,_, _" .. _', ',,_', _,' _,,' .. __ ' ,_,' _-_ _' _ _" - _ '_ ,- _"_ '_' _'-"_ -""'" '_ , '_ inte-raction effects were non-significant. The highest fruit yield (37...34 t ha') was fOUD:d, 'from the variety V:1, ('GS~,l) whereas the lowest fruit yield (20 ..77 t ha') was fOUD:d, from the variety V2 (Cherub), The highest fruit yield (35.93 t ha") was, fOUD,d from E, (25,0 pp:m ethrel) where the lowest (22 ..8,8 t ha') was found from E2, (5100 ppm ethrel) ..The highest fruit 'yield ha' (45,.37 t) was found from the combination V1El (variety GS~l with 2,50 ppm ethrel) bnt the lowest fruit yield, ha" (17.,23 t) was fOUD:d from the combination V2E2 (variety Cherub with 5,0,0 ppm ethrel), The combination VlE:I, (variety lOS...I with 250 pp:m ethrel) W;8S 'found 'the 'best one for the cultivation of squash,
