Cyber Protection & Awareness for Females

Abstract

Nowadays, cybercrime against women is a very familiar issue. According to BTRC, the total number of Internet users in Bangladesh was 120.95 million in June 2021. The total number of social media users in the country is 45 million according to the report released in February 2021. Though it is a boon on one side, on the other side it has created insecurity in the virtual world. The advent of technology has led to cybercrime and the victimization of females, which is a great threat to the security of a person. Understanding the concept of cybercrime is not radically different from the concept of conventional crime. Any criminal activity that uses a computer either as an instrumentality target or a means for memorializing further crime comes within the scope of cybercrime. Although there are provisions like section 57 of the ICT act for cyber violence, these acts are not specific about cyber violence against women or do not recognize the variety of technology-middle violence against women as offenses.
