Abstract
The purpose of this study was to look at the actual scenarios of the qurbanir hat and the cattle management system before bringing animals in Qurbani hat. The location of the Qurbani hat, Bibirhat, Chattogram, was chosen for data collection. Farmers who purchased cattle at the hat were directly questioned to obtain data. For the purpose of gathering data, about 50 farmers were chosen and 500 animals were observed at random. The questionnaire used for the interview included questions regarding available breeds, characteristics of cattle, housing, breeding, feeding, transportation of animals, disease prevalence and medications, among other topics It was discovered that medium-sized cattle make up the largest group at 57.2%, followed by smaller cattle at 25.2%. Larger and extremely large cattle account for 10.8% and 6.8%, respectively. Red Sindhi and Sahiwal breeds are the most common and 88.3% of the cattle were cross-bred, and only 11.7% of the cattle were native. Of farmers, 26% bought cattle from other sources, while 74% owned their own livestock. Cattle coat color shows considerable variation, with red tones being most common. Of the farmers, 58% used roadside grass and vegetable waste as primary roughages, and the remaining 48% used planted fodder such as Napier, Para, and German. Of the producers, 64% used vitamin mineral premix for fattening cattle, and 42% fed UMS. 76% of farmers consistently deworm their animals, and 58% of farmers conduct regular immunization. Trucks transport 55.2% of the animals, making them the most used vehicle. Of the 500 illnesses evaluated, Acidosis (5.4%) and LSD (2.8%) are the most prevalent. Despite these issues, 86.2% of the cattle remain healthy. The majority of farmers fattened their animals for a longer period of time; 54% did so for five months. 32% of farmers have received training from various NGOs and veterinary hospitals. This study will assist in educating farmers about the management of cattle fattening in advance of Eid-ul-Azha.
