Abstract
A field experiment was carried out at the soil science research field in Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Dinajpur during the rabi season of 2022. This study was done to examine the short-term red amaranth growth with different survey of nitrogen. The experiment was laid out in the Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. There were six treatment combinations viz. T1 = Control (No fertilizer use), T2 = Urea @ 20 g plot-1 (soil application), T3 = Urea @ 20 g plot-1 (spray), T4 = NPKS @ 115 g plot-1 (spray), T5 = NH4Cl @ 14 g plot-1 (soil application), T6 = NH4Cl @ 14 g plot-1 (spray). The yield contributing characteristics like plant height, number of leaves plant-1, fresh weight plant-1, dry weight plant-1, yield t ha-1 was significantly influenced due to different treatments. The highest plant height (At 15 DAS, 25 DAS and 63 DAS, 9.66 cm, 16.66cm and 32.02 cm, respectively), fresh weight plant-1 (24.21 g), dry weight plant-1 (15.57 g) and yield t ha-1 (14.07 t ha-1) was recorded in the treatment T5 where NH4Cl @ 14 g plot-1 (soil application) applied, Among the combined application of nitrogen fertilizer, NH4Cl @ 14 g plot-1 (soil application), exerted beneficial effects on yield and yield contributing characteristics of red amaranth compared to control. A significant increase in the nitrogen contents as well as their uptake due to the combined application of NPKS was observed. Analyses of post-harvest soil fertility status revealed that the application of NPKS fertilizer positively influenced the total N, available P, exchangeable K, and available S contents in soils, while all the treatments showed slightly decreased pH value of soil.
