INFLUENCE OF FERTILIZER DOSE AND IRRIGATION ON THE GROWTH AND YIELD OF SOYBEAN
    (DEPARTMENT OF AGRONOMY, 2008) YASMIN
An experiment was conducted at the Agrononw Field Laboratory of Slier-cl3angla Agricultural University. Dhaka -1207 during the period from December. 2007 to April 2008 to study the responses of different doses of fertilizer and different levels of irrigation on the groth and yield of soybean. The experiment comprised three doses of fertilizer viz, half of the recommended dose. recommended dose, and double of the recommended dose, and three levels of irrigation viz, at flowering stage. pod development stage and flowering pod development stage. The experiment was laid out in split plot design with three replications. The results showed that fertilizer dose and irrigation levels significantly influenced the growth, development, yield characters and yield of soybean. Fertilizer at recommended dose was found superior by producing higher seed yield with higher values of pods plant". seeds pod". 1000 - seed weight. stover yield, biological yield. and harvest index. Among irrigation levels, irrigation applied at flowering + pod development stage had maximum plant height. dry matter plant '. number of leaves plant". number of branches plant", pod length, number of pod plant", number of seeds pod', seed yield, stover yield, biological yield and harvest index . than single irrigation applied at flowering or pod development stages. In most of the cases fertilizer at recommended dose was found to influence yield but double of the recommended dose coupled with irrigation applied at flowering - pod development stage was found to be associated with better growth. The highest seed yield was found with the interaction of fertilizer at recommended dose irrigation applied at flowering ' pod development stage. This was achieved due to production of maximum number of pods plant number of seeds pod " ', greater pod length and larger seeds
