    EFFECT OF SOWING DATE AND NITROGEN ON THE GROWTH AND YIELD OF FRENCH BEAN (Phaseolus vulgaris L.)

    The experiment was conducted to investigate The effect or Sowing date and nitrogen on the growth and Yield or French bean (OARI Zhar Shecm-I) at the farm of Sher-e-Bangia Agricultural University. Dhaka. 111C experiment included two factors: A: Sowing date (TI -15 November, Tz -30 November. T, -IS December and T. -30 December) and Factor 0: Nitrogen level (N. - 0 kg N/ha, NI -45 kg N/ha. N1- 90 kg N/ha and Nj -135 kg Nllm). The experiment was laid out in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCI3() with three repltcations. The results of this study revealed that treatment TI gave the highest yield of the green pod (15.6 t/ha) among the other treatments. Nitrogen fertilizer also showed significant variation among the truncate and '1 produced the highest green pod yield (15.7 rha). Thus. th" ,Iudy demonstrated that TI ! gave the highest green pod yield of French bean (17.9 (1113)as well as the highest net return (TK. I. 70.023/b:l) and benefit-cost ratio (2.7) among the other treatment combinations.
