Due to the cardiotoxicity and uncountable side effects brought by the prevailing treatment strategies, demands are growing for targeted drug delivery using nanomaterials. For this the most commonly used drug, doxorubicin (DOX) is encapsulated within several type of nanovesicles to observe their anticancer activity. Among them, DOX encapsulated liposomes gained popularity because of their clinical success and lower toxicity. To enhance their efficiency and site specific delivery, attempts are made to modify the liposomes by combining them with peptides, aptamers, antibodies etc to develop pH, thermal, UV-sensitive and electro-magnetic liposomal nanocarriers for controlled drug release. The novel strategies for the treatment of Breast, Lung, Liver, Pancreatic, Prostate, Ovarian, Cervical, Blood, Brain and Colon cancer using modified liposomes encapsulating DOX are illustrated in this review.Item A domain and noise adversarial bird tune classification pipeline using deep neural network(BRAC University, 9/29/2022) Riya, Aparna Sarker; Roy, Arpita; Fahim, Md. Abrar; Tasnim, Zarin; Islam, Rakibul; Mostakim, Moin; Reza, Md TanzimBirds are an important category of animals that ecologists keep track of utilizing autonomous recording units as a key indication of environmental health. Because of the consequences of climate change and the rising number of endangered species, many experts suggested developing an animal species recognition system to help them in specialized research. Researchers can improve their ability to assess the state of biodiversity and its patterns in crucial ecosystems by precise sound detection and categorization, which is supported by machine learning, allowing them to better support global conservation efforts. However, producing analysis outputs with high precision and recall remains a difficulty. Due to a lack of appropriate methods for efficient and accurate extraction of interest signals, the vast bulk of data remains unexplored (e.g., bird calls). Moreover, due to strong source-domain specific features and artificial/natural noises, these acquired raw data create different distributions in datasets. So, to ensure a generalized feature learning, domain adaptation [1] techniques will be implemented in this work to make the networks familiar towards both acquisition sensor noises and background noises without having to do intensive dataset specific augmentations. We used 3 popular and powerful DNN models, including CNN, VGG19 and ResNet50. Out of them, for the bird species classification task VGG19 achieved the best accuracy of 96.02% in testing and 94.01% in training. To the best of our knowledge, this will guide towards convenient and deployable in real life models which will allow future works into the pipeline to ensure better coverage.Item Central Composite Designed Fast Dissolving Tablets for Improved Solubility of the Loaded Drug Ondansetron Hydrochloride(Daffodil International University, 2022-08-21) Thalluri, Chandrashekar; Amin, Ruhul; Mandhadi, Jithendar Reddy; Gacem, Amel; Emran, Talha Bin; Dey, Biplab Kumar; Roy, Arpita; Alqahtani, Mohammed S; Refat, Moamen S.; Safi, Sher Zaman; Alsuhaibani, Amnah MohammedOndansetron tablets that are directly compressed using crospovidone and croscarmellose as a synthetic super disintegrant are the subject of this investigation. A central composite, response surface, randomly quadratic, nonblock (version 13.0.9.0) 32 factorial design is used to optimize the formulation (two-factor three-level). To make things even more complicated, nine different formulation batches (designated as F1-F9) were created. There were three levels of crospovidone and croscarmellose (+1, 0, -1). In addition to that, pre- and postcompressional parameters were evaluated, and all evaluated parameters were found to be within acceptable range. Among all postcompressional parameter dispersion and disintegration time, in vitro drug release experiments (to quantify the amount of medication released from the tablet) and their percentage prediction error were shown to have a significant influence on three dependent variables. Various pre- and postcompression characteristics of each active component were tested in vitro. Bulk density, tap density, angle of repose, Carr's index, and the Hausner ratio were all included in this analysis, as were many others. This tablet's hardness and friability were also assessed along with its dimension and weight variations. Additional stability studies may be conducted using the best batch of the product. For this study, we utilised the Design-Expert software to select the formulation F6, which had dispersion times of 17.67 ± 0.03 seconds, disintegration times of 120.12 ± 0.55 seconds, and percentage drug release measurements of 99.25 ± 0.36 within 30 minutes. Predicted values and experimental data had a strong correlation. Fast dissolving pills of ondansetron hydrochloride may be created by compressing the tablets directly.Item Cyclodextrin Nanoparticles for Diagnosis and Potential Cancer Therapy(Daffodil International University, 22-09-08) Karthic, Anandakrishnan; Roy, Arpita; Lakkakula, Jaya; Alghamdi, Saad; Shakoori, Afnan; Babalghith, Ahmad O.; Emran, Talha Bin; Sharma, Rohit; Lima, Clara Mariana Gonçalves; Kim, Bonglee; Park, Moon Nyeo; Safi, Sher Zaman; Almeida, Ray Silva de; Coutinho, Henrique Douglas MeloCancer is still one of the world’s deadliest health concerns. J.; Alsayari, Abdulrhman; Wahab, Shadma; Khan, Sharuk L.; Akter, Noor Jahan; Islam, Md. Rezaul; Roy, Arpita; Islam, FahadulHabb-e-Suranjan (HES), an Unani formulation, has been studied for its anti-inflammatory properties in both in vitro and in vivo experiments. HES is recommended for arthritis, gout, and joint pain. The current endeavor is an attempt to put it to the test and verify its efficacy scientifically. It was tested for DPPH, hydroxyl, and nitric oxide scavenging activities. It was shown that HES had the greatest TAC and FRAC values when compared to catechin and ascorbic acid. HES exhibited DPPH and hydroxyl radical scavenging activity that was dose-dependent. Incubation of sodium nitroprusside solutions in PBS at 25°C for 150 min resulted in the production of nitric oxide. Nitric oxide production was effectively decreased by HES. Anti-inflammatory medications boosted the migration of PMN cells toward the chemoattractant FMLP in an agarose experiment of PMN chemotaxis. In carrageenan-induced rat paw edema, in the HES-treated group, paw thickness was 3.021 ± 0.084 at t = 0, but it showed an increase in paw inflammation after one hour, i.e., 3.195 ± 0.082 cm which again showed a decrease in paw thickness up to 4th hour, i.e., 3.018 ± 0.078, 2.98 ± 0.032, and 2.684 ± 0.061 at t = 2, 3, and 4, respectively. It showed again getting back to the normal thickness of paw at t = 24 hrs, i.e., 3.029 ± 0.118 cm. It is concluded that the formulation is potent enough and can be used effectively for the treatment of inflammation and associated health issues. Moreover, there is much scope to evaluate its effectiveness using different in vitro and in vivo models.
