Item Discover the Impact of Sulfur and Potassium on the Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Sulfur and Potassium Concentrations in Onion Bulbs(Asian Journal of Research in Crop Science, 2024-12-29) Manik, Md. Abul; Joha, Md Ruhul Kuddus; Hossain, AlifA scientific Research has been conducted using a RCBD technique with three replications, are focusing on two factors affecting onion growth. The purpose was to assess the impact of different sulfur levels S 1 = 5, S 2 =15, S 3 =25, and S 4 =35 kgha and potassium levels K 1 =100, K 2 =120, K 3 =140, and K 4 =160 kg /ha on the nutrient content of N, P, K, and S in onion bulbs was done in Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The time duration is October 2020 to June 2021. Based on the observations, it has been found that the bulb showed the highest level of nitrogen when treated with sulfur (5 kg/ha) and potassium (100 kg/ha respectively). In contrast, the lowest nitrogen level has been observed when the bulb was treated with sulfur and potassium (35 &140 kg/ha respectively). Furthermore, the bulb exhibited the highest concentrations of phosphorus (P), potassium (K), and sulfur (S) at a potassium 140 kg/ha and a sulfur 35 kg/ha. The development activities of Bangladesh are hindered by some related factors, the main objective of this study is to identify and eliminate these factors especially on construction contract wastes generated during procurement process. The factors impact on the development of Bangladesh are Corruption, Lack of skilled person, Favoritism, Bribery, Poor planning, Selection of Contractor (unethically), Political influence and Bureaucratic complexity in decision making in the construction contract. The resultant impact of these factors in procurement process are making the contract slow and reduce steadiness. These hindering elements are as slow poisoning in development activities and make the development work slower and ultimately the countries development goes slowly. In my study “I have tried to identify the infrastructural construction contract wastes in the procurement process”. Presently the large part of governments procurement of works is performed with e-GP (electronic government procurement) through the web portal www.egp.gov.bd. This web portal is introduced by CPTU, Ministry of planning. The operation, maintenance, rules implementation, amendments are the responsibility of CPTU. So, the primary responsibility of CPTU is to eliminate the construction contract wastes by introducing acceptable, transparent, reliable and value adding web portal for both Procuring entity and contractors of Bangladesh that will ensure the development of Bangladesh. The secondary and major procurement responsibility goes to Procuring Entity, Authority and implementing agency to eliminate the construction contract wastes. The unskilled planning in procurement, introduction of unreal specification in tender document for evaluation, unethical activities in contractor selection process, taking briberies in contractor selection process and giving them illegal facilities during implementation of the construction works. The third responsibility is imposed on government or ruling party. The government imposed some rules and regulations for different purpose, if it implies the acts and rules for transparent, anticorruption activities, reduces the process of bureaucracy and the change the fiscal year which will start from January to December instead of July to June. CPTU is trying to expand its mandate on implementing transparent, sustainability in public procurement in Bangladesh. Sustainability criteria which ensure the development is incorporated in STD’s PPA-206 and PPR-2008 should be amended to assure development issue more. Finally, there is plenty of opportunity to proceed further study on construction contract waste elimination in procurement process. Advance research will ensure more effective contract waste elimination process which enriches the sustainable development of Bangladesh.Item PERFORMANCE OF RICE CULTIVARS TO DIFFERENT CONCENTRATIONS OF ARSENIC AT SEEDLING STAGE(Sher-e-Bangia Agricultural University Research System (SAURES), 2016) Razzaque, Md. MonjurThe soil condition of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) area is different from other places due to its very soft nature up to a great depth and the existence of peat layer. As a result, the selection of suitable foundation type is a challenging job for the geotechnical engineer. In this region, even for a small project, a sub-soil condition is required to reveal completely for the safe design of structure. Since sub-soil exploration is expensive and time consuming, an evaluation of sub-soil condition in a comprehensive way may help designer in this context for the selection of suitable foundation for KCC area. In this study, samples were collected by auger boring from I 09 points within KCC. From test results of these samples and using correlation equations, the parameters are calculated. The samples from auger are disturbed sample from which moisture content, liquid limit, plastic limit and specific gravity are obtained. Unconfined compressive strength (qu) and compression index (Cc) are the important parameters for design purpose for which undisturbed samples are required. For these tests sample collection, preparation and testing need considerable amount of refinement, precaution and time, with the result that the procedure is costly. This situation calls for an alternative method by which this issue can be addressed. Correlation equation is available in literature verified in the context of Khulna soil. For this purpose available existing soil reports (202 nos.) were studied for where 617 nos. value· for qu and 2 IO nos. value for Cc were collected. Using existing correlation equations q0 and Cc were calculated from corresponding values of moisture content, liquid limit, plastic limit and specific gravity. Comparing the actual and calculated values, it was observed that the actual value of qu is approximately 1.98 times more than the correlation equations qu value and Cc is approximately 1.09 times more than the correlation equation Cc value, which means the q, and Cc from equation were much conservative and safe for structure. From the result of collected existing 112 nos. bore log and 109 nos. auger boring, the position and depth of peat layer are described. By combination auger boring and existing 202 nos. soil reports, the profile of q, and Cc are prepared. From this profile, q, and Cc may be measured from different places. The position of peat layer and instant observation water table are shown. The results accomplished in the study can be used by the practicing engineers as a background information for the selection of suitable foundation in KCC areas for the construction of relevant structures.
