There are millions of stuff being smuggled in and out, neighbour countries security forces having many ways to advance with gunning down people and entering the border area, seizing people and extortion. That's why it’s our effort to detect forces with a faster image processing method so the security personnel can use it to their benefit. Object detection in modern computer science has developed quite a lot in recent years. With the development of neural network algorithms, some notable of them are CNN, RCNN, and faster-RCNN algorithms. Our motive was to develop a real-time object detection system which can be used at the country border to help detect targets in order to increase security. That's why we used the YOLO (you only look once) algorithm to train and test out data. The YOLO algorithm takes a different approach in order to detect objects faster. In this research project, we trained raw data in YOLO and SSD (Single shot multibox detector) and compared their advantages and disadvantages for having a real-time level of detection and accuracy. This detection scheme can be applied in surveillance systems such as cameras, drones and video surveillance, which will require cloud and server-based processing in object detection Application Programming Interface. we’re hopeful that This research project could be one of the early steps to increase border area security.Item Effects of Triangular Core Rotation of a Hybrid Porous Core Terahertz Waveguide(SCIENDO, 2017-02-10) Ali, Sharafat; Ahmed, Nasim; Alwee, Syed; Islam, Monirul; Rana, Sohel; Bhuiyan, TouhidIn this paper, we investigate the effects for rotating the triangular core air hole arrangements of a hybrid design porous core fiber. The triangular core has been rotated in anticlockwise direction to evaluate the impact on different waveguide properties. Effective Material Loss (EML), confinement loss, bending loss, dispersion characteristics and fraction of power flow are calculated to determine the impacts for rotating the triangular core. The porous fiber represented here has a hybrid design in the core area which includes circular rings with central triangular air hole arrangement. The cladding of the investigated fiber has a hexagonal array of air hole distribution. For optimum parameters the reported hybrid porous core fiber shows a flat EML of ±0.000416 cm-1 from 1.5 to 5 terahertz (THz) range and a near zero dispersion of 0.4±0.042 ps/THz/cm from 1.25 to 5.0 THz. Negligible confinement and bending losses are reported for this new type of hybrid porous core design. With improved concept of air hole distribution and exceptional waveguide properties, the reported porous core fiber can be considered as a vital forwarding step in this field of research. The ability of interaction of ketotifen with paracetamol is dependent on pH of the solution and it has been found that ketotifen forms 1:1 complexes at different pH. The stability constants have been calculated from the Ardon’s spectrophotomeric measurements of the reaction systems. When ketotifen was interacted with paracetamol and the absorbance was determined at 300 nm the stability constants were found of -7.32 and -7.84 at pH 1.6 and 7.4 respectively.Item NEED ASSESSMENT FOR CAPACITY BUILDING OF DAIRY FARMERS IN POST DELIVERY MANAGEMENT OF CALF(A Production Report is submitted for partial fulfillment of the Degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), 2015-11) Rana, SohelABSTRACT The present study was assigned to determine the present status the dairy farmers about their calf management as it is the entry point of dairy farm initiation to make recommendation for development of small scales dairy farm. With this view, the empirical data were collected by using pre-tested questionnaire. The study was conducted at preselected (25+25) small dairy farms in Faridpur and Chittagong suburban area, and two months-long survey from 13th February to 13th March, 2015 & 29th July to 29 August, 2015. It appeared from the study that 40% farm owners belong to business class and remaining 60% to different categories. 46% took dairying as a side-business whereas only 54% took it as a main business enterprise. Major percentage of farm owner education level was Higher Secondary 44% and the average number of animal per farm was 13.01. The average monthly income of farm owners found in the study area was Tk. 4387. It was observed that farm owners had 85.4% crossbred (Indigenous cattle crossed with Friesian and Jersey) and was 14.6% indigenous cattle. Among the farmer 44% are trained & 56% are not properly trained in calf management. In case of small dairy farming, the farms were facing a lot of problems such as scarcity of feeds and fodder, high price of concentrate and lack of technical knowledge. Although the dairy cow owners face problems, the study observed that there were potentials particularly for the small dairy farmers. The farmers keeping 8-10 no. of crossbred cows professionally could earn a modest livelihood. However, the aim of raising calves is to find the best way to raise a healthy calf so that she will become a productive cow. The objective of this literature review was to determine the ideal management practices for raising a healthy calf from birth to weaning. This literature analyzed numerous articles that covered all aspects of calf management to determine the best practices for raising a dairy calf from birth to weaning. Raising calves can be difficult task for someone who does not understand the different elements that compose calf management.Item Neural network and modified butterfly architecture based key scheduling approaches for lightweight block ciphers(Institute of Information and Commutation Technology, 2021-11-03) Rana, Sohel; Mondal, Dr. Md. Rubaiyat HossainIn modern times, security has become a key issue for resource-constrained devices like embedded devices, wireless sensors, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices, which are increasing rapidly. These devices are expected to generate a massive amount of sensitive data for controlling and monitoring purposes. However, their resources and capabili- ties are limited. They also work with our valuable private data, thus making the security of those devices of paramount importance. As a consequence, an efficient and safe cryptographic algorithm can keep user data secret from intruders. Traditional encryption ciphers, such as Rivest–Shamir–Adleman (RSA) or the advanced encryption standard (AES), are computationally expen- sive, require a huge amount of memory, and hence hinder the performance of resource-constrained devices. The entire security strength of a cryptographic algorithm depends on the keys that are needed to encrypt and decrypt the message. Recently, most ciphers provide enough security for small computing devices based on complex number theories. However, the theory of complex numbers maximizes computing power and consumes more memory. Two dis- tinct key generation techniques are presented in this thesis. One of these is the Neural Network (NN) cipher, which is designed on a multilayer feedforward neural network with the concept of a nonlinear activation function to satisfy the Shannon confusion properties. Another is the Modified Butterfly architecture of the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) for Keys (MBFK) cipher. In the proposed NN cipher, it is shown here that NN consisting of 4 input, 4 hidden, and 4 output neurons is the best in the key scheduling process. With this architecture, five unique keys are generated from a 64-bit cipher key. Nonlinear bit shuffling is applied to create enough diffusion. The NN approach generates secure keys with a higher avalanche effect to meet Shannon confusion and diffusion properties while using less power, resulting in better performance than reported existing techniques. The MBFK cipher modifies the butterfly architecture of Fast Fourier Trans- formation (FFT) in the context of cryptography. With the butterfly architecture, the MBFK cipher has a higher avalanche effect, which ensures that the gener- ated keys are strong enough to protect information from different statistical attacks. It also meets the standard of the Shannon properties of confusion and diffusion. The proposed MBFK cipher is computationally lightweight because it uses simple logical operations like XOR and XNOR to generate the keys. As a consequence, the proposed MBFK cipher provides adequate security while also being energy efficient. The fair evaluation of lightweight cryptographic systems (FELICS) tool was used to evaluate the memory usage and execution cycle of both ciphers. The proposed ciphers were also implemented in MATLAB to test key sensitivity by plotting the histogram, correlation graph, and entropy of various encrypted images. In addition, a security analysis was performed in terms of the Number of Pixels Changing Rate (NPCR), Unified Averaged Changed Intensity (UACI), and correlation coefficients; the findings demonstrate that the suggested ci- phers offer the required scores to provide the intended security against attacks.Item Optimizing Wheat Growth and Yield: The Synergistic Effects of Nitrogen and Silicon Levels(Asian Journal of Research in Crop Science, 2024-11) Hossain, Maruf; Rana, Sohel; Nasim, Roconuzzaman; Rahaman, Sadia; Jote, Jannatul Ferdouse; Shahrin, Kazi Rifat; Begum, Mahfuza; Hasan, Ahmed KhairulEnhancing wheat production is essential to meet global food security needs, especially in sustainable agriculture. Among nutrient management practices, Nitrogen (N) and Silicon (Si) are known to improve growth and stress resilience in crops. However, while the individual effects of N and Si on crop performance are well-documented, limited research has explored their combined influence on wheat growth and yield. This study aimed to address this gap by evaluating the synergistic effects of N and Si fertilizer levels on wheat agronomic performance. A field experiment was conducted at the Agronomy Field Laboratory, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh, from November 2022 to March 2023. The experiment utilized wheat variety BWMRI 3 in a two-factor Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. Treatments consisted of four N levels (0, 80, 120, and 160 kg N ha-1) and four Si levels (0, 100, 150, and 200 kg Si ha-1). Statistical analyses using R programming revealed that the combination of 120 kg N ha-1 and 150 kg Si ha-1 (N2:S2) resulted in the highest growth and yield performance, including a 48.32% increase in tiller number, 33.63% improvement in effective spikelets, 12.97% increase in 1000-grain weight, 34.54% rise in grain yield, and a 15.88% increase in biological yield compared to the control (without N and Si). NazmulBackground Bangladesh is making progress toward achieving zero dog-mediated rabies deaths by 2030, a global goal set in 2015. Methods Drawing from multiple datasets, including patient immunisation record books and mass dog vaccination (MDV) databases, we conducted a comprehensive analysis between 2011 and 2023 to understand the effectiveness of rabies control programmes and predict human rabies cases in Bangladesh by 2030 using time-series forecasting models. We also compared rabies virus sequences from GenBank in Bangladesh and other South Asian countries. Findings The estimated dog population in Bangladesh was determined to be 1,668,140, with an average dog population density of 12.83 dogs/km2 (95% CI 11.14–14.53) and a human-to-dog ratio of 86.70 (95% CI 76.60–96.80). The MDV campaign has led to the vaccination of an average of 21,295 dogs (95% CI 18,654–23,935) per district annually out of an estimated 26,065 dogs (95% CI 22,898–29,230). A declining trend in predicted and observed human rabies cases has been identified, suggesting that Bangladesh is poised to make substantial progress towards achieving the ‘Zero by 30’ goal, provided the current trajectory continues. The phylogenetic analysis shows that rabies viruses in Bangladesh belong to the Arctic-like-1 group, which differs from those in Bhutan despite sharing a common ancestor. Interpretation Bangladesh's One Health approach demonstrated that an increase in MDV and anti-rabies vaccine (ARV) resulted in a decline in the relative risk of human rabies cases, indicating that eliminating dog-mediated human rabies could be achievable. Funding The study was supported by the Communicable Disease Control (CDC) Division of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) of the People's Republic of Bangladesh.Item Seasonal variation in proximate, fatty acid and amino acid profile of freshwater mud eel, Monopterus cuchia (Hamilton, 1822)(University of Dhaka, 2017-04-27) Rana, SohelThroughout the year, fish are subjected to considerable environmental changes and fluctuations in availability and compositions of feed that will affect their proximate, fatty acids and amino acids composition. The purpose of this study was to clarify the seasonal variation in proximate, amino acid and fatty acid profile of freshwater mud eel, Monopterus cuchia. The proximate compositions, total amino acid and fatty acid profile were determined by AOAC, HPLC and GC respectively. Results indicated that proximate (Moisture, Protein and Lipid), amino acid and fatty acid profile varied significantly (p<0.05) among these three seasons (pre-monsoon, monsoon and post-monsoon). However, ash content showed no significant variation among seasons. The amount of protein was higher in monsoon than in pre-monsoon and post-monsoon season. The fat and fatty acid as well as protein and amino acid contents of the investigated fish species showed a significant (p<0.05) seasonal dependency. Among the 14 recorded amino acids (Essential Amino Acid-6, Nonessential Amino Acid-8), the major amino acids in the total crude protein were lysine, glutamic acid, arginine, aspartic acid, leucine and methionine. The ratio of EAA/NEAA was higher in post-monsoon season than pre-monsoon and monsoon season. The findings of the present study also showed that unsaturated fatty acids represented 44.2142%, 57.2339%% and 66.0548% of the total fatty acids, whereas saturated fatty acids accounted for 55.7858%, 42.7661% and 33.9452% in pre-monsoon, monsoon and post-monsoon seasons. The major fatty acids in muscle ofM. cuchia were oleic acid (18:1), palmitic acid (16:0), linoleic acid (18:0),palmitoleic acid (16:1) and lauric acid (C12:0). Fatty acid profile resulted that some fatty acid: tridecanoic acid (C13:0), pentadecenoic acid (C15:1), eicosenoic acid (C20:1), eicosadienoic acid (C20:2), eicosapentaenoic acid (C20:5) and docosapentaenoic acid (C22:5) were not detected in pre-monsoon experimental fish. Most nutritionally important Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA, C22:6 n-3) was dominant fatty acid in monsoon than post-monsoon. Linoleic acid was the most abundant Poly Unsaturated Fatty Acid (PUFA) in M. cuchia. Fatty acid composition and n-3/n-6 is higher in monsoon than pre-monsoon and post-monsoon season which indicates fishes caught in monsoon season arenutritionally rich, thus advantageous for human health. Therefore, a comprehensive study on Monopterus cuchia (Cuchia) is required for the further confirmation of the result of present study.Item Study of Transformer Faults and Protection(Daffodil International University, 2014-09) Rana, Sohel; Motasim Billah, Md.This thesis describes different types of transformer faults and its protection scheme for transformers. Mainly, distribution type transformer has been considered. The first part of the thesis provides the background for different types of transformers faults and the differential thesis provides the background for different types of transformer faults and the differential protection schemes currently applied. After that we have focused a special sector that is a method of modeling transformer with internal winding faults. An internal fault is simulated by dividing the transformer winding into several sub-coils. The simulation of the terminal voltages and currents is based on known leakage factors between the various coils of the distribution transformer. These leakage factors are calculated by using a simple method analyzed in this paper. Then we analyzed a method for protecting turn to turn fault of transformer. Problems for the differential protection caused by transformer inrush currents and harmonics are also discussed. Whether the samples meet the quality requirement and having reasonable price, generously the buyers are to be attracted to place the order. So it is necessary that the samples having innovative and with up to the quality. By making samples, the supplier can calculate the consumption of yarn to develop the fabric, a clear concept on costing more ever the manufacturing difficulties. Besides by developing sample, the supplier can optimize the processing parameters for bulk production, which helps to avoid all kind of bottlenecks. All these works are conducted by the sample department that deals with the buyer at the frontier.Item Sustainable Grain Protection: Combatting Rice Weevils (Sitophilus oryzae) with Natural Plant Powders(Asian Journal of Research in Crop Science, 2024) Hasan, Rakibul; Rana, Sohel; Nasim, Roconuzzaman; Billah, Masum; Rahaman, Sadia; Shahrin, Kazi Rifat; Rahman, Anisur; Das, Krishna Rany; Ahmed, Kazi ShahanaraGrain storage plays a pivotal role in ensuring food security and sustaining agriculture for future generations. However, a wide array of insect pests, including the rice weevil (Sitophilus oryzae), pose a significant threat to stored grains. This study was conducted at the Laboratory of the Department of Seed Science and Technology, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh, from October 2019 to March 2020, to evaluate the efficacy of plant-based powders for managing rice weevils. The experiment was designed using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three replications and seven treatments. These treatments included five botanical powders—Ocimum tenuiflorum (Tulsi), Azadirachta indica (Neem), Polygonum hydropiper (Biskatali), Nicotiana tabacum (Tobacco), and Lantana camara (Lantana)—applied at three dosage levels: 1 g, 3 g, and 5 g per 100 g of grain. Additionally, a chemical insecticide (Sevin 85 SP @ 0.25%) and an untreated control were included for comparison. Results revealed that neem leaf powder was the most effective, achieving the highest adult insect mortality and the lowest adult emergence. In contrast, Lantana powder exhibited the least efficacy, allowing 94.38% more adult insects to emerge compared to neem powder. Untreated grains experienced a 20% weight loss due to rice weevil infestation after one month of storage, whereas treatment with 5% neem leaf powder reduced weight loss to a mere 0.14%. This reduction was statistically significant compared to all other treatments. These findings suggest that neem leaf powder at 5% is a highly effective, eco-friendly, and safe alternative to chemical insecticides for controlling rice weevils in stored grains.Item Unveiling Annona Reticulata's Bioactive Arsenal for Enhanced Antibiotic Effects(John Wiley & Sons, 2024-01-28) Uddin, Muhammad Ramiz; Shahriar, Asif; Mim, Halima Jahan; Papia, Bibi Khadiza; Siddiquee, Mohd. Q; Islam, Rahatul; Fatema, Nour; Parvez, Anwar; Roy, Goutam Kumar; Rana, SohelObjective: To study the antibacterial and phytochemical activities of bioactive elements in the leaves of Annona reticulata Linn, a historically used Bangladeshi medicinal plant. Methods: Shade-dried and crushed plant leaves were soaked with various solvents to obtain samples for different chemical analyses. All extracts were selected for antimicrobial, physicochemical, and Pharmacological investigations. The antimicrobial activity was evaluated using disc diffusion assay, and broth microdilution methods determined potentiation of the activities of the antibiotic antibacterial activity of the plant extracts was investigated using either gram-positive or gram-negative pathogenic wild-type bacteria. Results: From the initial phytochemical and pharmacological studies, it was clear that all extracts, methanol, chloroform, and ethyl acetate, of the leaves of A. reticulata, were proven to process potent bioactive constituents. While differential antimicrobial properties were found to be possessed by all extracts, methanolic extract was the most potent one against all tested microorganisms. It also has potentiated the activities of antibiotics in E. coli. Conclusion: Bioactive constituents in the plant extracts were shown to possess phytochemical and antimicrobial activities. More investigation is needed to segregate the chemical components responsible for the respective phytochemical and antimicrobial activities.
