Item Estimation Of Fecundity And Gonadosomatic Index (Gsi) Of Paradise Threadfin, Polynemus Paradiseus (Linnaeus, 1758) From The Meghna River Estuary, Bangladesh(Daffodil International University, 2013-07) Rahman, Md. Mofizur; Sultana, Afrin; Hasan, Mehedi Mahmudul; Sarker, Bhakta Supratim; Rahman, MahabuburThe present investigation was conducted to assess the fecundity and gonadosomatic index of female Polynemus paradiseus (L.) of the Meghna river estuary during the spawning season. A total of 75 samples were collected from local fish markets Chairmanghat, Sonapur and Maijdee of Noakhali. Mean total length and mean body weight of the collected fish samples were 16.38 ± 0.29 cm and 25.01 ± 1.45g respectively. The mean total fecundity was found 11383.33 ± 343.35.Variation in fecundity, GSI, total length, body weight and gonad weight of the studied species was found across the spawning season (April- June). Gonadosomatic index was found higher in May-June than April. The relationships of fecundity with body length, body weight and gonad weight were found to be linear and correlation coefficient (r) values were 0.6861, 0.7823 and 0.8049 respectively. The linear relationship between body weight and fecundity was found more valid than the relationship between body length and fecundity. The present study revealed that the fecundity of P. paradiseus was comparatively low than other estuarine fish species. Basic information on the size at sexual maturity and fecundity of P. paradiseus will be helpful to evaluate reproductive potential of individual fish species in similar studies.Item In Vivo Evaluation of Analgesic, Anti-Inflammatory and Antidiabetic Activities of Methanol Extract of Carallia Brachiata L. MofizurMost of analgesic and anti-inflammatory drugs cause hyperacidity and peptic ulcer. The present study was carried out to evaluate analgesic, anti-inflammatory and anti-diabetic activities of methanol extract of Carallia brachiata L. leaves on experimental mice. Carallia brachiata L. leaves showed significant analgesic effects (*p<0.01) on acetic acid induced writhing of mice compared to the control group where diclofenac sodium was used as standard.Carallia brachiata L. leaves decreased thecarrageenan induced paw edma notably (*p<0.05 and **p<0.01) compare to control group in which standard was diclofenac sodium. The methanol extract of Carallia brachiata L. leaves was administered intraperitoneally as a single dose of 150 mg/kg body weight to alloxan induced diabetic rats and found to reduced blood lipid level (Total cholesterol and Triglycerides) significantly (*p<0.05). The extract also exhibited correlation of altered biochemical parameters viz., SGOT and SGPT levels in diabetic rates. The effect of plant extract was compared with the standard drug metformin. MofizurInformation and communication Technology (ICT) is now a source of value for many organization both public and private across many industry sectors and in many countries both developed and less developed. A gain in productivity across the whole economy that benefits all citizens can be shown to flow from effective use of ICT. The major objective of this study was to explore the use of ICT in academic and administrative activities in higher educational institutions especially the public universities in Bangladesh for quality education. The major focus of this thesis is to investigate the current status of availability of ICT in higher education of Bangladesh. To explore the volume of using ICT in higher education academic and administrative activities. To gain competitive advantage in higher education sector it is urgently need to adopt E-Management in our work place to keep pace. In this qualitative and empirical research, we conducted an intensive field study and, therefore, the information presented based on both primary and secondary sources of data. Primary data was collected through questionnaire, observation and semistructure interview. Moreover, a special emphasis was given to the participatory approaches in all aspects of primary data collection of the study. The primary sources were the institution itself, teachers, students and classroom teaching learning activities of higher educational institutions. The prime method of data collection was mainly participatory field investigation. The semi-structure interview was conducted and recorded. The different categories of respondents were selected for collecting primary data which were: Public University Teachers, Dean, Chairman or Head of the department, Classroom/teaching learning activities and Learners/Students. The secondary data was gathered through analysis of ICT documents, research reports, seminar reports, articles and government documents. The expenses of private university are not payable by all citizens. Thus, the public universities are considered as the core Higher education providers in Bangladesh. Thus 3 public universities (BUET, DUET, BSMRAU) and 3 private universities (AUST, UIU, Uttara University) were selected purposively as the sample for this study. 5 teachers were identified from each 6 universities. The stratified sampling strategy was employed for teacher sampling. One of the teachers was selected who are the Head of the department and the Dean of the faculty. Two classroom/teachinglearning observation activity from each 6 universities had been selected purposively. Thus, a total of 12 classroom teaching-learning activities had been observed for collecting data. Ninety students were taken on availability and their interest. This includes exploring the existing infrastructure of ICT, capacity of teachers & staff on using ICT, availability of ICT facilities in the institutions and future challenges. Therefore Readiness of E-Management integration in Higher Education of Bangladesh attempts to explore the situation.Item Smart Diagnosis of Malabar Spinach Diseases Using ML and Deeplearning(Daffodil International University, 2025-09-16) Rahman, Md. Mofizur; Omi, Khalad MhamudMalabar spinach (Basella alba) is a healthy vegetable that is actively grown in Bangladesh and is a source of many vitamins, minerals and antioxidant. But the productivity of leaf is greatly hit by diseases that lower yield and economic returns of farmers. Quality crop production and sustainability requires early and correct disease detection. This study provides a deep learning-based leaf disease detection model of Malabar spinach with the following diseases; Anthracnose, Bacterial Spot, Downy Mildew, Healthy Leaf and Pest Damage. We gathered 4,221 pictures, 1,215 of which were field pictures and 3,006 online pictures. Background removal and cropping followed, then the dataset was curated and 2,531 usable images were partitioned into 70% training, 20% validation and 10% testing. We adopted ViT-B/16 as the classifier and YOLOv8n and YOLOv11n models in terms of classifying objects. Accuracy, precision, recall, F1 score, and mAP at 0.5 were used as a measure of performance. ViT model scored 79.53 percent accuracy, which was a highest result in the Healthy Leaf classification. YOLOv8n with a mAP at 0.5 of 0.914 and a peak F1 of 0.83 was the best at Pest Damage recall. YOLOv11n was better at precision with an mAP of 0.895 and F1 of 0.81 on Anthracnose. YOLOv8n is suitable in tasks based on recall, YOLOv11n in precision and ViT in Healthy Leaf verification. The framework allows detecting diseases in real time, which will contribute to sustainable agriculture by minimizing the use of pesticide.Item Tubular Network Formation by Mixing Amphiphilic Polypeptides with Differing Hydrophilic Blocks(Biomacromolecules, American Chemical Society, 2019-09-18) Rahman, Md. Mofizur; Ueda, Motoki; Son, Kon; Seo, Siyoong; Takeoka, Shinji; Hirose, Takuji; Ito, YoshihiroArtificial tubular networks are promising structures for biomaterial applications because of their large surface areas. A tubular network was formed by co-assembling two different amphiphilic polypeptides, poly(ethylene glycol)-b-(L-Leu-Aib)6 (PL12) and polysarcosine-b-(L-Leu-Aib)6 (SL12). They both have the same hydrophobic 12-mer helical block (L-Leu-Aib)6 but different hydrophilic chains, poly(ethylene glycol) and polysarcosine. In water, both polypeptides self-assembled into a tubular structure having a uniform 80 nm diameter that was formed by packing among the hydrophobic L12 blocks. The SL12 nanotubes were short (200 nm), straight, and robust. PL12 formed long (>1 μm), bendable, and fusogenic nanotubes. The amphiphiles were then co-assembled with various mixing ratios to form tubular networks. Higher concentrations of PL12 made the nanotubes more bendable and fusogenic between open tube ends, which produced branching junctions under heat treatment.
