Mahmudur; Chakrabarty, Dr. Amitabha; Sabuj, Dr. Saifur RahmanBase Transceiver Station is considered as the heart of mobile telecommunication system. Millions of phone calls, SMS and enormous number of data is being sent and received in every second through these BTS all over the world. Therefore, BTS are the devices which need to run 24/7 without being disturbed by any sort of electric crisis or shortage. Bangladesh is not fully compatible to meet the growing electricity demand of the whole country. Although it varies from day to day, on an average we predicted there are two hours of load shedding period in every distribution line of entire country. Therefore, it requires 24/7 electricity supply to all the BTS of all operators. Our concern is during the off grid period. It is found that all the operators use diesel generators for the off grid time. Our target is to compare the feasibility of using alternative power sources to minimize the cost of the system, minimizing carbon emission and reducing the dependency on the fossil fuel. Firstly, we have analyzed the previous and recent data of diesel, solar and fuel cell power sources. A new we model is proposed to combine the sources with backup of diesel generator which can minimize the cost and fulfill our target. We also analyzed the future of carbon emission which our proposed model can reduce after a certain period of years.Item COMPARISION OF DIFFERENT TECHNIQUES FOR MITIGATION OF UNDER VOLTAGE PROBLEM OF BANGLADESH POWER SYSTEM AND THEIR EFFECT ON STABILITY(DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL, ELECTRONIC AND COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING, 2017-12) Sarker Utsha, Manobendro; Nabil, Shadman Shakib; Rahman, Md. MahmudurPower quality has become a major concern because of increasing number of loads being connected to the power system. Abnormal conditions in a power system create fluctuations to electrical quantities such as voltage, frequency and current. An important factor in the normal and healthy operation of the power system is to maintain security in power generation, transmission and distribution. System security can be assessed by solving under-voltage problem. In this thesis power flow analysis of Bangladesh Power System is performed by PSAF (Power System Analysis Framework) and three different solution method of under-voltage problem is shown along with cost calculation for each of the methods. Afterward, transient stability analysis is done for each of the methods considering four different abnormal events taking one at a time. A comparative conclusion is shown on the basis of cost effectiveness and stability for the adopted solution methods.Item Evaluation of Machine Learning Approaches for Prediction of Dengue Fever(Springer, 2022-10-14) Rahman, Tasmiah; Rahman, Md. MahmudurDengue is a mosquito-borne, deadly viral disease that is a major threat to public health all over the world. Dengue and covid-19 symptoms are almost same, and sometimes, people are confused about which disease they are infected with. This year in Bangladesh dengue and covid-19 patients have been increasing at an alarming rate, and most of the time people didn’t properly recognize the disease. A developing country like Bangladesh has faced many difficulties to handle this situation. The target of this research work is to analyze the symptoms and predict the chances to get infected with dengue fever. Machine learning techniques are widely utilized in the health industry to detect fraud in treatment at lower cost, predictive analysis, cure the disease. Four machine learning algorithms are used which are support vector machine, decision tree, K-nearest neighbor, random forest to predict dengue fever based on symptoms. The results were compared for percentage split and K-fold cross-validation method for before and after applying principal component analysis. The experimental result shows that the support vector machine algorithm provides the highest performance compared to others algorithms.Item Online IELTS Test Exam Practice - Online IELTS Exam(Daffodil International University, 2019-04) Rahman, Md. MahmudurOnline examination project could be a web portal which is developed or implemented in PHP domain or platform. IELTS interested student can practice. This project will help students to get practiced to online examination method by taking mock tests from this web portal. This website must have some main section. Such as activities, notes, videos /audios. In Activities section student can practice some model question of previous IELTS exam. After finishing any model question, they can see his/her score and the correct answer. In video/audio section contains some file that are related with the model question. So that, it can be easy to solve the model question. Our next section is Note. Speech of video/audio section will be documented here.To develop this project, the various tools are used. ShamimIn this modern world, LC is so much important for a company. In Bangladesh, it is not different in this case. An export company can not run without selling its product and they have to do import. But for import and export it is very risky to buy or sell because it has no guarantee that a seller will send his product and buyer will pay for it. But by LC, banks take this risk. It is not an easy process but safe for an organization. I did my work with account and commercial department. I did my work related LC. This internship program and preparation of this report helped me a lot to learn about the practical environment and situation of a financial institution and also make up a bridge between the theoretical and practical aspects. The main part of the report includes theoretical overview of LC, LC related operations practiced in this company, analysis of gathered information and finally recommendations depending on analysis.Item Preparation and Characterization of Granular Activated Carbon from Rice Husk for the Treatment of Textile Effluent(Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET), Khulna, Bangladesh., 2011-01) Rahman, Md. Mahmudur; Bari, Prof. Dr. Quazi HamidulImportance of activated carbon for utilization in treatment of liquids especially water and wastewater has been increasing due to its high adsorption capacity of different impurities. In this study an attempt has been undertaken to produce activated carbon from rice husk applying simple technology and to apply them for the treatment of textile wastewater. In this study production, characterization and application for effluent treatment is observed. For production three low-cost furnaces are designed and fabricated in the workshop of this university and named as Type A. B & C. Thermal activation is adopted for the production of carbon. Different treatment options are applied to treat the two types of effluent collected from textile industry.Different selected tests are done in the laboratory for the characterization of activated carbon.Physical properties of the activated carbon like ash content, volatile content, moisture content, fixed carbon content are performed. Specific characteristics of activated carbon like adsorption study; kinetic study; column study is also performed using different color, dye and reactive dye. Before using the effluent their physical-chemical tests are also done. Several hatch experiments are done in laboratory for the treatment of textile effluents. It is observed from the study that the activated carbons prepared in Type A. B and C furnaces are found 48%. 76% and 35% of total raw material, respectively. The production cost of Type A. B and C furnace are about 500.00 BDT, 40.00 BDT, and 35.00 BDT per kg of activated carbon. respectively. The ash contents of produced activated carbon are 56%. 42% and 58%, respectively and the volatile contents are 4.0%, 7.94% and 6.0%. respectively. The bulk density of the produced activated carbon is 0.38 g/cc, mean pore diameter is 43 A arid the adsorption capacity is 0.96 g/l00g Methvlene blue. The maximum adsorption of color occurred at an optimum temperature of 40°C with the retention time of' 60 minutes. These properties of produced activated carbon are similar to other activated carbon as described in literature.The color adsorption capacity of the produced activated carbon during application in diluted textile effluent is found to be 80.60% whereas for locally available activated carbon, the adsorption capacity is 62.96% for the same time interval. Adsorption studies with activated carbon derived from rice-husk gave comparable better performance than that of industrial grade activated carbon for decolorization of textile effluent which is 75~90% and 12~35%,respectively. The produced activated carbon also reduce 99% color. 67~80 % COD, 20~70% acidity, 50~56% Manganese, 63~87% Phosphate and 50~60 % Chloride from enzyme wash and desizing wash wastewater. Therefore the produced activated carbon can successfully be applied for the treatment of textile effluents especially the color parameter:Item Stigma Toward People With COVID-19 Among Bangladeshi Older Adults(Daffodil International University, 22-09-13) Mistry, Sabuj Kanti; Ali, A. Ashfikur; Lim, David; Ghimire, SarunaThe onset of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic and its overwhelming physical and mental health burden can result in stigmatization toward the disease and those affected. This study aimed to measure the prevalence of COVID-19-related stigma and its associated factors among older people in Bangladesh. This cross-sectional study was conducted among 1,045 Bangladeshi older adults aged 60 years and above through telephone interviews in September 2021. The outcome was measured using an eight-point Stigma Scale, adapted to the Bengali language. Level of stigma was indicated by the cumulative score of the eight-items, ranging from 0 to 8, with a higher score indicating a higher level of stigma. On average, participants had stigmas on three of the eight items, and 62.6% had a high stigma score. The most prevalent stigmas were as follows: COVID-19 is a punishment from God (79.3%), patients with previous COVID-19 must be isolated (67.3%), and people infected with COVID-19 did not meet hygiene standards (63.9%). Participants who lived in rural areas (β: 0.67, 95% CI: 0.39 to 0.95) and who perceived needing additional care during the pandemic (β: 0.35, 95% CI: 0.09 to 0.60) had a higher average stigma score, whereas stigma scores were lower among unemployed/retired participants (β: −0.22, 95% CI: −0.45 to 0.00). The study findings suggest implementing interventions to raise awareness through appropriate health literacy interventions and mass media campaigns.Item The role of the gut microbiome in modulating anti-cancer drug response: mechanisms, clinical evidence, and therapeutic strategies(BRAC University, 2025-12) Shakib, Md. Mahmudur; Sharmin, SabrinaThis thesis shows and gives us an idea about how the gut microbiome influences the efficacy, effectiveness, and safety of anti-cancer treatments. Our intestine holds a large community of bacteria, fungi, viruses that modulate breakdown, metabolism, immunity, and our health. Modern research shows that these microorganisms can directly influence how carcinogenic drugs act in the body with both of their advantages and their side effects, toxic effects and adverse effects. Microbial enzymes can activate or metabolize anti-cancer drugs. Thus, providing stronger treatment, weaker, or more harmful one. Any hindrance in the gut microbiome (dysbiosis) can induce inflammation, weaken the gut wall, and decrease treatment response. This study has talked about some microbial metabolites, like short-chain fatty acids. This one can either support anti-cancer immunity or, in other cases, induce tumor growth that depends on context. Evidence from clinical trials shows that patients with more microbial ecosystems and specific good species led to responses better in both immunotherapy and chemotherapy. But some other patients suffer increased drug toxicity when their gut microbiome is hampered. Finally, the thesis talks about the major challenges in this area. It also drafts future paths. To conclude, the gut microbiome is an important but underused weapon in carcinogenic medicines. It has a strong potential to improve treatment strategies and outcomes.Item Upper Limb Joint Angle Estimation Using Wearable IMUs and Personalized Calibration Algorithm(Daffodil International University, 2023-02-14) Rahman, Md. Mahmudur; Gan, Kok Beng; Aziz, Noor Azah Abd; Huong, Audrey; You, Huay WoonIn physical therapy, exercises improve range of motion, muscle strength, and flexibility, where motion-tracking devices record motion data during exercises to improve treatment outcomes. Cameras and inertial measurement units (IMUs) are the basis of these devices. However, issues such as occlusion, privacy, and illumination can restrict vision-based systems. In these circumstances, IMUs may be employed to focus on a patient’s progress quantitatively during their rehabilitation. In this study, a 3D rigid body that can substitute a human arm was developed, and a two-stage algorithm was designed, implemented, and validated to estimate the elbow joint angle of that rigid body using three IMUs and incorporating the Madgwick filter to fuse multiple sensor data. Two electro-goniometers (EGs) were linked to the rigid body to verify the accuracy of the joint angle measuring algorithm. Additionally, the algorithm’s stability was confirmed even in the presence of external acceleration. Multiple trials using the proposed algorithm estimated the elbow joint angle of the rigid body with a maximum RMSE of 0.46°. Using the IMU manufacturer’s (Wit Motion) algorithm (Kalman filter), the maximum RMSE was 1.97°. For the fourth trial, joint angles were also calculated with external acceleration, and the RMSE was 0.996°. In all cases, the joint angles were within therapeutic limits.Item Voice Based E-Commerce(Daffodil International University, 2018-11) Karim, MD. Zahedul; Islam, Mohammad Sirajul; Rahman, Md. It’s meant to put or at least offer an alternative to using our keyboard or mouse in order to navigate E-commerce sites and buying items. In our site, all other function will be work like a normal E-commerce site. An Admin can add the item, edit the item, delete the item, login etc. Some of the voice E-commerce platforms bear sophisticated voice acknowledgment capabilities and maximum of them conquer the very primary ‘yes’ or ‘no’ and can process more difficult sentences and reaction. Voice E-commerce reducing the quantity of time it takes to fulfill a purchase dramatically and allows one to shop in any condition; While we showering, working out or in bed. Since technology is continuously changing, we don't want to type in hand, so we try to a different way. ComScore predicted that 50% of all searches will be voice searches by 2020. They use smartphones for playing various games and watch the cartoon as well as funny videos and movies also. The addiction to using smartphones through children is increasing day by day. Maximum parents now want to teach their children via smartphones. In that case, they try to find various learning apps and games. From that sense, we decide to make a child learning apps by using Virtual Reality. VR is the most powerful way of interaction nowadays. On the VR apps, we design some 3d environments according to our survey. Inside the environment, there will some alphabets in some fixed placed according to sequence and the child has to collect them by walking inside the environment. When he/she pick any alphabet than the apps will tell the name of the alphabet.Item Vulnerability to Water-Logging and Livelihood Security in South-Western Region of Bangladesh(University of Rajshahi, Rajshahi, 2020) Rahman, Md. Mahmudur; Paul, Shitangsu KumarWater logging constitutes the main hazard in the South-West region of Bangladesh. The severity of this hazard turns into a disaster and creates vulnerability due to existence of high population density with poor socio-economic status. Thus, this study examines the present status of the vulnerability situation of the affected households by water logging with the reference of Jessore district, the worst affected area by water logging. Moreover, this study looks into the livelihood security status and tries to sort out its significant determinants. The study uses field survey data and several mathematical and statistical methods to obtain the objective and total sample size are 377 out of 20576 households for measuring vulnerability, the study firstly uses Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) for giving weights to each variable. Secondly, it adopts Leon's matrix for calculating vulnerability score for each factors. Thirdly, the overall vulnerability level of the study area is calculated by aggregating the vulnerability scores of each factor. Livelihood security status is measured by using Household Livelihood Security Index. Moreover, the study applies econometric technique (2SLS) for determining the factors that influence the livelihood security of affected people by water logging. The study results reveal that rural people in the study area face the problems of social disruption in terms of school, housing, health, sanitation and market facilities. It is found that 40. 34 percent households are in very high vulnerable condition and on an average; overall livelihood security is lower in the study area. The estimation of econometric model finds that all the security variables (economic, food, education and health) positively influence the economic security in the study area whereas family size and dependency ratio are significantly negatively associated with economic security as expected. Therefore, the study recommends facilitating financial and capital supports and livestock/fisheries based livelihoods may be encouraged. Trial and error based education enhancing programs are also marked as suitable policy of improving livelihood security status.Item Web Application and Development in Skill Jobs Training Center(Daffodil International University, 2020-09-12) Rahman, Md. Such as I used HTML3, HTML4, HTML5, CSS, Bootstrap Framework etc .We developed a web base application that is easy to access from anywhere of the world and it is very helpful for our every section in our life. I understand how to solve real life problems, how to handle client, group-wise work, etc. This internship report takes us details were web design application and development knowledge to gather during my whole internship time.
