A web Based Application on Parking
(Daffodil International University, 2018-05) Rahman, Md. Hasibur; Hossain, A. K. M. Ashraf; Tanveer, Mahfuzur Rahman
In our city, parking problems are majorly caused by combination of recent increasing number of motor vehicles with limited amounts of physical parking spots. Parking problems promote unsatisfied motor vehicle drivers communities and residents. Despite multiple mobile applications designed for locating parking spots, it is still an open problem, and the available solutions cannot solve it to the satisfactory level. Our main goal is to finding parking spot (availability) and design a web application for finding parking spots. In order to achieve our goal, we developed and conducted an application which help users to find the nearest parking spot in the least time & to reach their destination through the shortest way possible. Based on the current parking scenario of our city, we developed an innovative parking system that features a web application including mobile application that will save time and reduce traffic jam on the roads, give security, accuracy and reliability to the users and future proposals to support and relieve parking conflicts in our city

An approach to detect epileptic seizure using XAI and machine learning
(BRAC University, 2022-05) Bijoy, Emam Hasan; Rahman, Md. Hasibur; Ahmed, Sabbir; Laskor, Md. Shifat; Hossain, Muhammad Iqbal; Rahman, Rafeed
One of the most common neurological disorder in health sector is Epileptic Seizure (ES) which is occurred by sudden repeated seizures. Hitherto more than 50 million people in the whole world are suffering from Epileptic Seizures. The abnormal brain activity of the central nervous system often causes unusual behavior, losing awareness and psychological problems etc. Moreover, many risks associated with epileptic seizures include sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP) which is really a concerning problem discussed in this article. For abstaining from adverse consequences of epileptic seizure-like this health sector focuses more on the early prediction and detection of epilepsy. The complex signals of brain activity are reflected as swift-passing exalted peaks in Electroencephalogram (EEG). Initially, the specialist inspects the EEG signals over a few weeks or months to identify the presence of epileptic seizures, which is a very time-consuming and challenging task. Hence, Machine learning (ML) based classifiers are capable to categorize EEG signals and detect seizures along with displaying related perceptible patterns by maintaining accuracy and efficiency. In order to detect epileptic seizures, EEGbased signal recognition algorithms had been shown in this paper by applying both Multi-Class Classification and Binary classification. The algorithms were Decision Tree Algorithm, Random Forest Algorithm, Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) and K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN), Gradient Boosting Classifier, Gaussian Na¨ıve Bayes, Complement Na¨ıve Bayes, SGD Classifier, Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI), LIME Algorithm etc. However, K-Nearest Neighbor appears with pretty higher accuracy in certain conditions.

(2018-12) Rahman, Md. Hasibur; Rahman, Md. Masudur
This research is an attempt to measure the impacts of Solar Rooftop Systems (SRS) in Bangladesh. After a brief review of previous research works on SRS’s importance, benefits and prospect, the study mainly focuses on the issues of SRS’s impacts on energy economics. Solar energy is one of the most popular form of renewable energy. The use of solar panel is increasing rapidly all over the world. Fortunately, the location of Bangladesh is quite suitable for harnessing solar energy. The object of Thesis was to analyze the feasibility of on grid connected Rooftop system in Narangonj under (DPDC). However, large area is still uncovered either by grid electricity or by electricity generated from renewable sources. Our work was to survey the consumers total SRS and collect some Questionaries’ answers. We tried to know theirs SRS capacity, install cost, installation date and analyze the cost per unit energy. We wanted to convince them that in Bangladesh, where power generation is a huge challenge, solar rooftop system can play an important role. So, they should use the SRS in proper way.

    Food Waste Management System
(Daffodil International University, 23-02-18) Ahmed, Md. Hridoy; Rahman, Md. Hasibur
There is mounting evidence that a considerable quantity of food is wasted globally, negatively impacting sustainability. Food waste reduction is a key sustainability concern for the food service business. Despite its importance to the worldwide food service sector, the relationship between innovation strategies and food waste management has gotten little attention in academic research. Waste management improvements are used in this application. It is based on an evaluation of incremental and revolutionary waste management systems and innovations that combine practice-driven initiatives with waste management systems. The study shows a variety of waste management initiatives, demonstrating how management's beliefs, knowledge, goals, and actions affect how each initiative is implemented in the food service industry. Practitioners could gain a better understanding of the factors that influence the adoption of technologies to reduce food waste by using the concepts presented here.

Role of Management Information Systems in Disaster Management: An Exploratory Study in Bangladesh
(©University of Dhaka, 2024-03-13) Rahman, Md. Hasibur
The role of Management Information Systems (MIS) in disaster management and determinants of the adoption of MIS-based services for disaster management have not been adequately investigated in the context of Bangladesh yet. This fact leaves a blank space in the knowledge of the application of MIS in disaster management. However, this gap needs to be addressed to align with the government’s plans of making use of MIS to fulfill its objectives, such as mitigating and managing disaster events efficiently. Conversely, it's widely recognized that Bangladesh, situated in South Asia, is a country with low elevation, shaped by the deltas of the Ganges, Brahmaputra, and Meghna rivers. This geographical characteristic makes it susceptible to recurrent disasters. Therefore, some extensive changes have taken place, in terms of policy and IT infrastructure development for disaster management, over the last decade in Bangladesh. Sequentially, the need for an integrated MIS system for efficient disaster management as well as proper coordination among different governing bodies and stakeholders is realized more than ever. While a number of previous studies, which are specific to the Bangladesh context, have focused on disaster management in terms of context-specific solutions, gender inclusion, supply chain, policy, community-based disaster management, ICT integration, and so on, no studies have focused on the application of MIS in disaster management in terms of its roles and adoption by the users. Therefore, the major objective of the present study was to investigate the role of MIS in disaster management in Bangladesh. In this process, this study investigated the elements that impact end-users' acceptance of MIS based services for disaster management. Concurrently, the requirements and users’ perceived benefits regarding the integration of MIS in disaster management were also identified. The study was conducted through a mixed-method approach, consisting of both qualitative and quantitative studies. The qualitative study was conducted to identify the roles of MIS in disaster management by finding the perceived benefits of the use of MISbased services for disaster management through Key Informants Interviews (KII) and Focus Group Discussions (FGD). The participants of the 12 KIIs where the officials or stakeholders from different disaster management-related organizations, whereas, the participants in four FGDs were the end-users. Then, the researcher purposively selected the respondents whom at least used MIS-based services for disaster management was surveyed. Also, a total number of 815 respondents was identified as the sample for the quantitative study following purposive sampling. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data for the quantitative study. On the other hand, the semi-structured, checklist with open-ended questions was used for the qualitative study. The findings from the thematic analysis of KIIs reveal four major roles of MIS services for disaster management that are perceived by stakeholders. The roles are: 1) information access for disaster management, 2) strategic planning in the disaster management process, 3) operational management in disaster events, and 4) disaster risk assessment in disaster events. Similarly, the thematic analysis of FGDs reveals four major roles of MIS services for disaster management that are perceived by end-users. These are 1) affordability in disaster management, 2) connectedness in disaster events, 3) coordination in disaster events and 4) improvement in decision-making ability in disaster events. In the study, the literature and theory review helped the researcher to formulate a coherent set of hypotheses to identify the factors that influence the end-users in using MIS-based services for disaster management. Also, based on the Technology Adoption Model (TAM) and the Diffusion of Innovation Theory (DOI) model, a conceptual framework was proposed and tested to explain the variation in the actual use of MIS-based services for disaster management. For testing the conceptual framework, the researcher used Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The hypotheses testing reveals that except trialability (TR) (t = 0.948, β = 0.130, p > 0.05), the Perceived usefulness (PU) (t = 5.139, β = 0.601, p < 0.01), Perceived ease of use (PEoU) (t = 7.551, β = 0.288, p < 0.01), Behavioural intention (BI) (t = 11.326, β = 0.234, p < 0.05), Relative advantage (RA) (t = 9.112, β = 0.595, p < 0.05), Compatibility (Com) (t = 14.336, β = 0.489, p < 0.05), Complexity (Comx) (t = 5.962, β = -0.188, p < 0.05), and Observability (Ob) (t = 4.672, β = 0.446, p < 0.05) factors influence the adoption of MIS based services for disaster management by the end-users in Bangladesh. On the other hand, the structural model analysis tested the fitness of the model, where the R-squared value for the Actual Use factor was 0.593, which implies that the proposed conceptual model can explain up to 59.3 percent of the variance in the actual use. The present study provides several significant implications which would help to make use of MIS for disaster management. Knowing the factors influencing the adoption of MIS-based services for disaster management by the users and their perceived benefits will provide a broader knowledge of how to enhance the role of MIS in disaster management in Bangladesh. Other implications include that the providers of MIS-based services for disaster management should develop user-friendly services. Finally, the study is significant as the findings of the study not only provide important knowledge of the influencing factors in adopting MIS-based services for disaster management and the perceived user benefits by using MIS-based services but also no previous study with a similar objective was conducted in Bangladesh to enhance the role of MIS in disaster management. By fulfilling this research gap, this study contributes to the country’s objectives regarding Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), particularly, SDG 2 (strengthen capacity for adaptation to climate change), SDG 11 (decrease the economic losses caused by disasters), and SDG 13 (combat climate change and its impacts).

Studies on the fish marketing system in Mawaghat, Munshiganj district, Bangladesh
(University of Dhaka, 2017-04-23) Rahman, Md. Hasibur
The present study was carried out on fish marketing system of Mawaghat,Munshiganj district to find out marketing channel, market infrastructure market, constraints of fish marketing, price of fish species, market recommendation for future management and development. This research was conducted from June 2016 to February 2017 in three selected fish markets in Mawaghat. The study was based on existing marketing system and economic features of marketing activities. Data were collected from three different markets. A total of 120 consumers, 30 from each market were interviewed at the market centre. The market chain from fishermen to consumer passes through a number of intermediaries: local traders, agents/ suppliers, retailers and consumers. There are some fish species available in three different markets, such as Indian major carps i.e. rohu, catla, mrigal and exotic carps silver carp, grass and common carp, tilapia, pangas etc. The price of fish depends on market structure, species, quality, size, weight. All traders in three markets made a considerable amount of profit. Traders have broadly improved their food consumption facilities, standards of living, purchasing power, choice and ability as an economic sector than previous time. However, concerns arise about the sustainable marketing system due to higher transport costs, poor road and transport facilities, inadequate supply of ice, lack of money for this business, poor institutional support. Basic infrastructure such as, clean water supply, sanitary facilities, adequate drainage system, icing, flooring etc. should be ensured for promotion of fish marketing system. In Mawaghat, almost all fish traded internally move through the privet sector where a large number of people are dealing with fish distribution and marketing system. On the basis of a sample of 30 traders from the market, the usual amount of the daily turnover of fish in this market is between Tk 2.5 and 3 million and the volume varies relying on the variation in catches during peak or off-season.Virtually most of the fish (near about 70%) is locally supplied, near about 30% brings in from all over the country including Cox’s Bazar, Teknaf, Chittagong, Mohangang, Chandpur, Barisal, Kuliarchar, Jessore and Satkhira, Khulna, Bicrompur, Mymensingh. Study on Non Productive Time (NPT) of T-Shirt Manufacturing
(Daffodil International University, 2019-06-02) Alamin, Md.; Rahman, Md. Hasibur
NPT in Industrial Engineering term is Non-Productive Time. The time that is spent by an operator without producing any garment (standard minutes) like 'set up time' is called nonproductive time. This is the major problem of low production of garments manufacturing. In this thesis we have try to collect some data and how to improve productivity. We have find out the possible non-productive time (NPT) for sewing and other department, and captured the non-productive time (NPT) different type of problem. This thesis we have show the comparison of sewing section and other department. We have realize the major non-productive time continuously. If proper work has been done of NPT we can achieve proper production and minimize the higher cost of production.
