An Approach to Create a High Frequency Ultrasound System to Project Agricultural Field From BATs
(Daffodil International University, 2019-05) Rahman, Md. Hafizur
Ultrasonic bat Banisher disposes of bats by radiating persevering ultrasonic sound waves. Bat control is best tended to with a physical hindrance or an ultrasonic Bat Banisher. Bats chase after dim and perch during the day. Their vision isn't exceptionally intense and they explore utilizing echolocation. Thus, ultrasonic bat Banisher gadgets are the most straightforward and viable approach to dispose of bats. Bats convey high-recurrence commotions that, by methods for a reverberation, are come back to the bat's ears, telling them the separation, course, and size of the space or object(s) before them. This is called echolocation. It is the motivation behind why bats are incredibly delicate to sounds in this recurrence go. Ultrasonic bat Banisher gadgets help control bats by transmitting sound waves that meddle with echolocation, making the influenced region unwelcoming to bats. Ultrasonic sound waves are characteristic bat hindrances and don't cause hurt. The bat province will look for another perch in unprotected structures or normal regions. We are the main providers, exporters, and makers of top quality, superior Ultrasonic Bat Banisher.

The purpose of the “Design and Development of a News Portal for DIU” is to gather all the news of Daffodil International University in a single place so that students can easily find a specific news or a specific category of news without spending lots of time by searching manually. As this system is online based, so valuable data/information can be stored for a longer period with easy accessing and manipulation of the same. The required software and hardware are easily available and easy to work with. Online news portal as described above, can lead to error free, secure, reliable and fast management system. Although Daffodil International University has their own website where they store all information including news, but user may distract from his goal when he/she finds a large number of sections provided by the university. It can assist the students to concentrate on their other activities rather to concentrate on the other activities. Thus it will help organization in better utilization of resources. The organization can maintain computerized records without redundant entries. That means that one need not be distracted by information that is not relevant, while being able to reach the information. The aim is to make a specific system that provides only news of the university by the help of computerized equipment and full-fledged computer software, fulfilling their requirements. Basically the project describes how to manage for good performance and better services for the students and teachers.

Design of an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)
(2014-07-06) Rahman, Md. Hafizur; Rahman, Md.Habibur
Digital equipment such as computers, telecommunication systems and instruments use microprocessors that operate at high frequencies allowing them to carry out millions or even billions of operations per second. A disturbance in the electrical supply lasting just a few milliseconds can affect thousands or millions of basic operations. The result may be malfunctioning and loss of data with dangerous or costly consequences (e.g. loss of production). That is why many loads, called sensitive or critical loads, require a supply that is protected. Many manufacturers of sensitive equipment specify very strict tolerances, much stricter than those in the distribution system for the supply of their equipment, one example being Computer Business Equipment Manufacturer’s Association for computer equipment against distribution system disturbances. The design of this uninterrupted power supply (UPS) for personal computer (PC) is necessitated due to a need for enhanced portability in the design of personal computer desktop workstations. Apart from its original functionality as a backup source of power, this design incorporates the unit within the system unit casing, thereby reducing the number of system components available. Also, the embedding of this unit removes the untidiness of connecting wires and makes the whole computer act like a laptop. Not to be left out is the choice of a microcontroller as an important part of the circuitry. This has eliminated the weight and space-consuming components that make up an original design. The singular use of this microcontroller places the UPS under the class of an advanced technology device.

Development of a framework to reduce overhead on database engine through data distribution
(IEEE Xplore, 2015-01-22) Rahman, Md. Hafizur; Akter, Md. Nasim; Ahmad, R. Badlishah; Nader-uz-zaman, M.; Rahman, Mostafijur
Software driven solutions are limited to the amount of memory size and storage capacity, but the sizes of databases are increasing every day. Hence, now a day, handling data and accessing it in an acceptable time is one of the biggest challenges especially in a large database system. In a database, the records can be categorized according to the access frequencies; some records are very frequently accessed (hot data), some records are hardly accessed (cold data) and other records accessed occasionally (warm data). In a conventional database we keep all hot, warm and cold records in a single database. In case of record access (query, update etc.) a query might takes longer time even if a good data accessing algorithm (clustering/mining) incorporate with the database. Thus categorizing of the data set, i. e. clustering in terms of access frequency may improve data accessibility. In this paper, we are proposing a data clustering mechanism based on data access frequency. Finally, the expected result shows how and why data accessibility time should outperform other available data clustering techniques. Full Text Link: http://doi.org/10.1109/ICED.2014.7015773

Development of Capital Market in Bangladesh : A Study on Dhaka Stock Exchange Limited
(University of Rajshahi, 2003) Rahman, Md. Hafizur; Abedin, M . Zainul
In the context of development of capital market in Bangladesh , Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), occupies a very important and significant place. Some scholars earlier did some limited works relating to the capital market development in Bangladesh. But no in-depth study was earlier done on capital market development in Bangladesh. The present study, therefore, aims at evaluating the overall performance of capital market development in Bangladesh with special reference to Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE,pFor this purpose required data were collected from secondary and primary sources. In a developing economy like Bangladesh, stock exchange has a vita l role to play in the economic growth and development of the country through which capital market development can be ensured. It is not so easy task to evaluate the performance of DSE and its role in the development of capita l market. However, attempts have been made to analyze the activities of DSE and to see to what extent its objectives were achieved. This work also examines and analyses the historical profile including objectives and function of DSE with a view to see to what extent its basic operations are successful. It also finds out the deviation, their causes and suggests the remedies. However, the specific objectives of the study are ( 1) to review and analyze the growth trend of the activities of DSE and to evaluate its performance; (2) to evaluate the performance of Mutual Funds in the development of Capital Market of Bangladesh; (3) to evaluate the role of ICB and other Development Financing Institutions (DFls) in the development of capital market of Bangladesh; (4) to analyze the risk return relationship in the DSE before and after automation; (5) to analyze the dividend payment practices of listed companies and its impact on security prices in the DSE over the years; and (6) to identify the problems and to suggest measures for improving its performance. The study was primarily based on secondary data and information in relation to the stock exchange. The secondary sources include: dissertations, research article, scientific papers, journals, editorials of national dailies and such other articles and research reports on stock exchange. In the analysis of growth trends, simple growth rate, compound growth rate and trend growth rate were calculated. In addition to these, mutual funds' rates of return were calculated on the basis of Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM). Moreover, Krusal Wallis Test was also used in analyzing the risk return behavior of DSE before and after automation. In this work, growth trends of the activities of DSE are analyzed. Over the last 25 years, DSE expanded a lot of business and operational activities. After liberation, trading activities were resumed in 1976 with only nine (9) listed companies. At that time, the total paid up capital of the listed companies of the Exchange was only Tk. 137.53 million. The study reveals that the growth trends of different activities of DSE over the last 25 years were positive in all respects. But the growth trends of DSE's all share price index show insignificant compound growth rate, (i.e. , 7 02% only). Growth trends of public issue, turnover of share and debenture, listed companies' paid-up capital, market capitalization show the signs of better management and good performance. But th e current management practice of DSE, in managing the share price index and individual share price, is not sound. Manipulation activities and short selling or insider trading is going on in the DSE. After the crash in 1996, the capital market authority took several reform measures but still the market is not corrected . This is very alarming for the development of capital market in Bangladesh. Mutual funds' performance has been examined and analyzed in this th esis. A risk adjusted measure of performance has been done by using the Treynor index, the Shape index and the Jensen index. Those show that the first ICB mutual fund is one of the best performing fund. But the other funds were performing better than the market with a considerable degree of flu ctuations. For the development of capital market in Bangladesh , Investment Corporation of Bangladesh (ICB), and other Development Financing Institutions (DFls) are playing a significant role since long . Role of ICB including DFls has been examined and analyzed in this thesis. The findings suggest that merchandising operational performance of ICB may be considered efficient. But the current management practice of ICB in connection with financial assistance operation is not sound. Various companies enjoy underwriting and bridge financing facilities but they are not repaying their loans in time. The present loan recovery position of ICB is not satisfactory. For sound development of capital market, th is situation is harmful. In providing underwriting and bridge financing facilities to the enterpreneurs, the Corporation should be cautious and selective After implementation of projects, supervision activities should be carried on and strengthened. Before disbursing any financial assistance to any entrepreneur, efficient professionals should appraise and examine the projects. The research findings show that the appraisals as well as other associated personnel are not doing their jobs efficiently and they are not in a position to detect weak cases. Dividend policy of a company has great impact on the share price of a company. Event study methodology is employed to measure the security price performance. Before and after automation, the impact on security prices after the dividend announcement has been analyzed in this thesis. Dividend announcement is an instrument, which reflects information about the company. In this analysis, it is found that dividend announcement has a strong signaling device which influence the securities' prices. The analysis shows that in the DSE, there is no dividend announcement effect; and dividend announcement does not carry positive information about the company. The ineffectiveness of the regulatory agencies sometimes causes distortion in the market. It may be mentioned that presence of kerb market is an example of ineffectiveness of the regulatory bodies and the government policies. In risk return behavior analysis, Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM) has been used to evaluate the relationships between risk and return before and after automation. The expected relationship between risk and return is displayed by Securities Market Line (SML). The SML is a mirror where in, the risk-return combinations are reflected . Share price index in the DSE was high in November 1996 and the index reached upto 3600 points. To check the artificial bull market in 1996 several reform measures including automation in the DSE were taken by the government and some other donor agencies. Risk return behavior analysis and estimated SML has been computed in th is thesis. The test results indicate that the market didn't improve and even after automation manipulative activities continued till today. The damage caused by 1996 debacle seems to be irreparable for bringing back investors' confidence in the market. Bangladesh stock markets have grown significantly during the last two decades. Still, the size of the market is relatively small compared to other Asian markets. Moreover, liquidity was very insignificant in Bangladesh . So, Bangladesh's capital market can be characterized by a thin market having small market capitalization ratio and low level of liquidity. Adequate measures are to be taken to expand this market. It has been observed from the analysis that co-variance is very unusual in case of 81 h mutual fund i.e ., negative return which implies something abnormal. These abnormalities should strictly be checked by the controlling authority Other mutual funds were also performing better than the market but with a limited degree of fluctuations. So, it is recommended that for the development of capital market of Bangladesh, ICB should take adequate measures in investment sectors through which ICB can ensure smooth and healthy return for all the mutual funds for the benefits of the general public. The healthy growth of ICB is depended mainly upon two aspects i e , investment and recovery. Therefore, ICB should undertake feasibility studies for identification of proper investment projects in different sectors of the economy and take adequate measures for recovery. Proper monitoring and evaluation of investment projects is a pre-requ isite for ensuring good returns Introduction of automation in the DSE did not make any significant impact on risk return relationship of stocks of DSE. But it was expected that the automation measure would improve the situation. So, the authority should take more care in attaining better results. The stock price manipulation in 1996, heavily damaged the scope of emerging stock market for which the marginal investors lost the confidence. But it has been observed that all reform programs and regulatory measures to improve the unhealthy situation of DSE, failed to achieve the desired resu lt. If stock markets are considered leading indicators of an economy, then one should conclude that the economic fundamentals are not healthy for the economy as a whole. But this situation should not be allowed to continue for long. Attempts should be made at both public and private levels to improve the situation. Researchers observe that dividend announcement is a strong signaling device, which influences the security prices. The study shows that the Dhaka Stock Exchange's, dividend announcement does not carry positive information about the company. This effect may be a result of many factors. But those evil factors should immediately be removed. This price-pressure effect after the dividend announcement date may nullify the effect of dividend announcement on the stock price. So, th is tendency should be reduced by proper training and motivation. Capital market of Dhaka is still an in fant market, which still needs proper care taking and nursing to accommodate all the avenues of security trading here. So, the regulatory body should be stronger and effective enough to reduce the effect of kerb market All the listed companies in the DSE should maintain a good and healthy dividend policy through which capital market investment can be geared up Out of total 12 sectors, only a few sectors are providing a handsome and sound dividend payment to the shareholders, namely investment, engineering and pharmaceuticals and chemicals. Since the test result shows that there is no dividend announcement effect in the security price in the DSE, it is therefore suggested that manipulation, insider trading and presence of kerb market should be abolished to develop the capital market in Bangladesh.

Enzymatic Modification of Starch: Amylases and Pullulanase
(2024-06-20) Saeid, Abu; Akter, Farzana; Ali, Md. Aslam; Rahman, Md. Hafizur
Starch-modifying enzymes are crucial biocatalysts with unique properties, versatile modes of action, and wide-ranging applications. These enzymes, often sourced from microorganisms, plants, or animals, operate under mild conditions, demonstrating high catalytic efficiency, substrate specificity, and eco-friendliness. In terms of mode of action, amylases (α-amylase and β-amylase) hydrolyze starch by cleaving α-1,4-glycosidic bonds or removing maltose units. Glucoamylase converts maltose and isomaltose into glucose. Starch phosphorylases introduce phosphate groups, yielding phosphorylated products, while debranching enzymes like pullulanase facilitate access to branched starch regions. Unlike non-food applications span numerous industries, modified starch is now employed in several food application such as bakery products, snacks, soups, sauces and gravies, batters and coatings, and meat products due to their numeral functional properties. However, starch-modifying enzymes, characterized by their properties, mode of action, and applications, are indispensable biocatalysts that continue to drive innovation across diverse sectors and sustainable industrial practices. This chapter focused on the major properties, mechanisms of action, and industrial applications of starch-modified enzymes.

Preparation and Characterization of Alkylcarboxylate-Stabilized-Magnesium Nanoparticles
(Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET), Khulna, Bangladesh., 2011-10) Rahman, Md. Hafizur; Yousuf, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abu
Long chain carboxylate shell stabilized magnesium (Mg) nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized. In the core-shell type NPs the cores are Mg metal and the shells are long chain carboxylates. Synthesis of magnesium nanoparticles (Mg-NPs) involve: i) preparation of water soluble Na-salts of long chain fatty acids in alcoholic medium followed by ii) temperature controlled reaction with magnesium salts in aqueous medium in presence of suitable surfactant, poly vinyl pyrrolidone (PVP). The synthesis procedure used in this work was originally applied for the fabrication of long chain carboxylate capped magnesium nanoparticles. Structural and geometrical probabilities of prepared NPs were proposed on the basis of evidences from elemental analysis, optical and spectral studies. The compositions of the NPs were determined by elemental analysis. The experimental and calculated data for carbon (C), hydrogen (H), oxygen (0) and metal were compared. The presence and percentages of C, H and 0 revealed the presence of alkyl carboxylates and is proposed that these alkyl carboxylates act as protected shefls to the Mg-N Ps. From the titration of magnesium laurate, magnesium myristate, magnesium palmitate and magnesium stearate 7.83%, 7.02%, 6.54% and 5.93% Mg were found respectively. These values show that all the substances contain relatively higher amount of Mg than those of the molar ratio. These results exposed metallic Mg in the samples. It is proposed that this metallic Mg may be positioned at the core of the NPs. Melting point (MP) data also provide auspicious evidence about the formation of Mg-NPs. The Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) spectra provide information about the presence of moisture or adhering free water and/or crystalline water and alkyl carboxylates in the NPs. Broad peak at —3040 to 3520 cm 1 appears due to 0-H stretching vibrations of hydroxyl (—OH) group. This may be due to the presence of moisture absorbed by the sample or water of crystallization. Two characteristic peaks at —1510 to 1600 cm 1 and at —1400 to 1510 cm1 were found and these may be due to C=O stretching and C-O stretching of carboxylates respectively. V Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) photographs showed the particles have the dimensions over a range of 25-90 nm. At higher magnifications, the NPs were recognized as spherical or oval in shape in all cases. The NPs are hygroscopic in nature as they absorbed 8.54-12.22% moisture. The moistures and/or crystallized water are also evidenced by the Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA) and Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) of the respective NPs. Both DTA and TGA demonstrated the presence of alkyl carboxylates or organic part in the NPs. The loss of organic parts at higher temperatures also corresponds to the decomposition of the NPs at higher temperature in a normal furnace as investigated by FTIR analysis.

Voltammetric Studies of Paracetamol with Some Functional Amines at Different pH Media
(Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET), Khulna, Bangladesh, 2016-02) Rahman, Md. Hafizur; Motin, Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul
Electroactive paracetamol adducts such as paracetamol-diethylamine and paracetamol-diisopropylamine were synthesized electrochemically. The products has been studied by Cyclic voltammetry (CV), Controlled potential coulometry (CPC), Differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) and Chronoamperometry (CA) techniques using Glassy carbon (GC), Gold (Au) and Platinum (Pt) electrodes. The studies have been carried out in variation of paracetamol, diethylamine and diisopropylamine concentration, buffer solution of different pH, different electrodes and scan rate. After the insertion of diethylamine and diisopropylamine in paracetamol solution at the second scan of CV potential, new anodic and cathodic peaks appeared at the negative potential. In the presence of nucleophiles with paracetamol as Michael acceptors the oxidation and reduction peak shifted with respect of pure paracetamol. Also the anodic and cathodic peak current changes significantly compared with the pure paracetamol that indicates the participation of reaction of p-quinoneimine with diethylamine and diisopropylamine. The products generated from the reaction of paracetamol with diethylamine and diisopropylamine are assumed to be N-(3-(diethylamino)4- hydroxyphenyl)acetamide and N-(3-(diisopropylamino)-4-hydroxyphenyl)acetamide respectively that undergo electron transfer at more negative potentials than the paracetamol. The influence of pH of paracetamol in presence of diethylamine and diisopropylamine was studied by varying pH from 3 to 9. For diethylamine and diisopropylamine, it is observed that at pH 3-5, no new anodic peak appeared after monotonous cycling. In the pH 7, the pdienone endures nucleophilic attack by the amines that voltammetric new anodic peaks A1 and A2 appeared after monotonous cycling. Whereas in pH 9, the voltammogram display a new peak at the first scan of potential. In lieu of diethylamine and diisopropylamine, the maximum peak current is observed at pH 7. The slopes of the peak potential, E vs pH plot was determined graphically as the anodic peaks of paracetamol-diethylamine (37 mV/pH for first anodic peak A3) and paracetamol-diisopropylamine (23 mV/pH for first anodic peak A3) at 0.1V/s in the cycle. This ascribed that the oxidation reaction of paracetamol-diethylamine and paracetamol-diisopropylamine adducts proceeded via the 2ei2H process. This also indicates that during the reaction not only electron but also proton are released from the paracetamol-amine adduct. The reaction was strongly influenced by the pH as well as concentration of diethylamine and diisopropylamine. The reaction was mostly favorable in 150mM of diethylamine and 150mM of diisopropylamine with fixed 2mM of paracetamol at pH 7. The electrochemical reaction of paracetamol-diethylamine and paracetamol-diisopropylamine adduct are facilitated in neutral media. The effect of scan rate on cyclic voltammogram of paracetamol in presence of diethylamine and diisopropylamine were also investigated. The peak currents of both the anodic and the corresponding cathodic peaks increase with the increase of scan rate. The nearly proportionality of the anodic and corresponding cathodic peak ascribes that the peak current of the reactant at each redox reaction is controlled by diffusion process. The current function, I1,/v"2 of paracetamol-amine derivatives were found to be decreased exponentially with increasing scan rate. In all the studies of paracetamol-amine derivatives have been found to undergo electrochemical reaction with ECE (electron transfer-chemical reaction- electron transfer) type mechanism. Controlled-potential coulometry was studied of catechol in presence of diethylamine and diisopropylamine. During the course of coulometry, the appeared peaks height increase proportionally to the advancement of coulometry, parallel to the decrease in the height of paracetamol peak. These observations also indicate the participation of reaction of paracetamol with the studied nucleophiles. The electro-synthesized products originated from the bulk electrolysis of paracetamol with diethylamine and diisopropylamine were isolated. The formations of new products were also ascertained by FTIR spectra.

YIELD PERFORMANCE OF MUNGBEAN IN DIFERRENT LIGHT LEVEL A Thesis By Md. Hafizur Rahman
(HAJEE MOHAMMAD DANESH SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY UNIVERSITY, DINAJPUR., 2016-06) Rahman, Md. Hafizur; Prof. Dr. Md. Abu Hasan
A field experiment was carried out at the Research Field of Department of Crop Physiology and Ecology, Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Dinajpur during the period from April 20, 2015 to June 30, 2015 to evaluate the three mungbean varieties in regard to morpho-physiological parameters, yield and yield contributing characteristics under different light levels. The experiment was laid out in a split plot design with three replications. Three light levels i.e. 100, 75 and 50 percent of full sunlight were assigned in the main plot while three mungbean varieties (BINA mung 5, BINA mung 8 and BARI mung 6) were assigned in the sub-plot. Light levels were adjust using mosquito nets of different mesh sizes and color. Different light levels had a significant effect on morpho-physiological characteristics like plant height, number of leaves, leaf area, chlorophyll content, dry weight of leaf, stem and root of different days after sowing (DAS) of different mungbean varieties. In case of yield and yield contributing characteristics like number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod, thousand grain weight and yield of different mungbean varieties found higher at 100 percent of full sunlight compare to 75 and 50 percent of full sunlight. Among the three varieties, BARI Mung 6 showed lesser reduction in pods per plant, number of seed per pod, thousand grain weight and yield both at 75 and 50 percent of full sunlight and this variety may be used as tolerant variety under partial shade condition.
