Item A comparison between open-source and commercial translator tools(BRAC University, 2007-01) Rahman, Atiqur; Abdullah, Matin SaadWhen staring to analyze the tools used for translation, I have chosen Pootle as the first tool to consider is an open source tool that performs translation by means of analyzing the whole sentence first before parsing for translation. This tool is used by Ubuntu, leading distribution of Linux, and because it is open source, it can easily be modified to one’s own language and hence be extended. Then for studying a commercial translation tool, the popular tool that I have found and studied is Trados. Despite being closed –source it has a good tutorial and documentation for use. It works by creating a project and keeping the file to translate then translating it. However, the creation of project is only available to the software that is bought with a certain price. Performance wise, Trados has a different way for translating, it translates each word before going for grammatical parsing. This might give rise to certain difficulties or even inconsistencies in the translation process and eventually lead to grammatically complex or incorrect sentences. However, Trados has ways of correcting for these issues but doesn’t document how they do it as they are closed-source. Now, which method to use is a debate that needs to be resolved in a scientific way. Hence this project is concerned with the analysis between the two leading yet distinct tools for translation.Item Analysis of Self-Organizing Maps and Explainable Artificial Intelligence to Identify Hydrochemical Factors That Drive Drinking Water Quality in Haor Region(Elsevier, 2023-12-04) Mia, Md. Water resource protection and management require knowledge of water hydrochemistry and drinking water quality characteristics, mechanisms, and factors. Self-organizing maps (SOM) have been developed using quantization and topographic error approaches to cluster hydrochemistry datasets. The Piper diagram, saturation index (SI), and cation exchange method were used to determine the driving mechanism of hydrochemistry in both surface and groundwater, while the Gibbs diagram was used for surface water. In addition, redundancy analysis (RDA) and a generalized linear model (GLM) were used to determine the key drinking water quality parameters in the study area. Additionally, the study aimed to utilize Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) techniques to gain insights into the relative importance and impact of different parameters on the entropy water quality index (EWQI). The SOM results showed that thirty neurons generated the hydrochemical properties of water and were organized into four clusters. The Piper diagram showed that the primary hydrochemical facies were HCO3−-Ca2+ (cluster 4), Cl---Na+ (all clusters), and mixed (clusters 1 and 4). Results from SI and cation exchange show that demineralization and ion exchange are the driving mechanisms of water hydrochemistry. About 45 % of the studied samples are classified as “medium quality”,” that could be suitable as drinking water with further refinement. Cl− may pose increased non-carcinogenic risk to adults, with children at double risk. Cluster 4 water is low-risk, supporting EWQI findings. The RDA and GLM observations agree in that Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, Cl− and HCO3− all have a positive and significant effect on EWQI, with the exception of K+. TDS, EC, Na+, and Ca2+ have been identified as influencing factors based on bagging-based XAI analysis at global and local levels. The analysis also addressed the importance of SO4, HCO3, Cl, Mg2+, K+, and pH at specific locations.Item Antibacterial and Free Radical Scavenging Activity of Methanol Extract of Crystella Denatata (Leaves)(Pharmacology online, 2019-08-30) Azad, A.K.; Khan, Shajib; Das, Nandita; Rahman, Atiqur; Ferdous, Jannatun; Khairuzzaman, M.; Rahhman, MizanurAntibiotic resistance is getting global treat and also many diseases are associated with oxidative stress caused by free radicals. The present study evaluated the in vitro antioxidant and antibacterial activities of methanol extract of Crystella denatata. In vitro antioxidant activities of the plant extract were determined by DPPH scavenging method as compared with standard antioxidants. Extract showed significant radical scavenging activity as IC50.25.27 µg/ml comparable IC50 8.687 µg/ml of standard ascorbic acid. Mild antibacterial activities were comparable with standard drug, Kanamycin. The present study provides evidence that Crystella denatata prove to be potent natural antioxidants and could replace synthetic antioxidants. Plants can also be used against pathogenic bacterial strains.Item Bengali Slang Detection Using State-of-the-Art Supervised Models From a Given Text(Institute of Advanced Engineering and Science (IAES), 2023-08-15) Hamid, Md. People from different regions occasionally employ regional Slang that is unfamiliar to outsiders and confuses the meaning of the sentence. Nearly all languages can now be translated thanks to modern technology, but only in very basic ways, which is a concern. Bengali Slang terms are difficult to translate due to a dearth of rich corpora and frequently occurring new Slang terms developed by people, making it impossible for speakers of other languages to understand the context of a sentence in which Slang is used. We developed a solution to this issue. To create models that can detect Bengali Slang terms from social media, we gather various Slang phrases from various regions and develop a modest corpus. Our suggested method nearly always succeeds in extracting Bengali Slang terms from fresh material. We create a total of 7 supervised models and assess which is the most effective for our study. One of them has a 70% accuracy and 86% recall rate for successful identification. TowfiqulSoil salinity is a pressing issue for sustainable food security in coastal regions. However, the coupling of machine learning and remote sensing was seldom employed for soil salinity mapping in the coastal areas of Bangladesh. The research aims to estimate the soil salinity level in a southwestern coastal region of Bangladesh. Using the Landsat OLI images, 13 soil salinity indicators were calculated, and 241 samples of soil salinity data were collected from a secondary source. This study applied three distinct machine learning models (namely, random forest, bagging with random forest, and artificial neural network) to estimate soil salinity. The best model was subsequently used to categorize soil salinity zones into five distinct groups. According to the findings, the artificial neural network model has the highest area under the curve (0.921), indicating that it has the most potential to predict and detect soil salinity zones. The high soil salinity zone covers an area of 977.94 km2 or roughly 413.51% of the total study area. According to additional data, a moderate soil salinity zone (686.92 km2) covers 30.56% of Satkhira, while a low soil salinity zone (582.73 km2) covers 25.93% of the area. Since increased soil salinity adversely affects human health, agricultural production, etc., the study's findings will be an effective tool for policymakers in integrated coastal zone management in the southwestern coastal area of Bangladesh.Item Design and Development of NIDPort(Daffodil International University, 2019-12) Rahman, Atiqur; Sultana, SurayaWe are living in a development country, with emerging technology and digitalization. Although the way of leaving is changing rapidly, but still the peoples of our country are facing many problems regarding Birth Certificate, NID Card, and Passport. Problems like NID card information doesn’t match with passport or birth certificate information, birth certificate information doesn’t match with passport or NID. Also big problems arises when someone try to fix or correct those documents. The ugliest side is that people face corruption, harassment, and waste their time in this way. There should a centralization of all those documents so that this type of problem can be fixed all together. This NIDPORT project can help people to get rid all of this problems. As we know in current process when a new baby born, a birth certificate need to make for the baby, then when they grow up they have to provide same information as they used to provide at the time of birth certificate to make NID card then again same information’s for passport. So our plan is when a baby born a smart NIDPORT will created for him/her with proper information, then after certain age they will become voter automatically. Because all the information needed for NID is already exists in the NIDPORT database. Which will also help them to get passport easily. If someone update their information in the NIDPORT, the birth certificate, NID card and passport information will be updated as well.Item Geographic Inequalities and Determinants of Anaemia among Preeclamptic Women: A Cross-sectional Sample-based Study in Bangladesh(Springer Nature, 2024-06-20) Ali, Ahasan; Islam, Jahirul; Paul, Ratna; Parvin, Shahinur; Chowdhury, Abu Taiub Mohammed Mohiuddin; Islam, Rafiqul; Siddique, Sharmina; Rahman, Atiqur; Tasnim, Sayeda Tamanna; Hasna, Suraiya"Background Anaemia among preeclamptic (PE) women is a major undefined health issue in Bangladesh. This study explored the risk factors associated with anaemia and mapped the regional influences to understand the geographical inequalities. Methods Data from 180 respondents were prospectively collected from the Preeclampsia ward of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), Bangladesh. Anaemia was defined as a blood haemoglobin level less than 11.0 g/dl. Preeclampsia was defined as systolic blood pressure (SBP) ≥ 140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) ≥ 90 mmHg with proteinuria. Factors associated with anaemia were explored using the chi-square test. Logistic regression (LR) was done to determine the level of association with the risk factors. Results Among the participants, 28.9% were identified as having early onset and 71.1% reported late onset of PE. 38.9% of the subjects were non-anaemic, whereas mild, moderate, and severe anaemia was found among 38.3%, 17.8%, and 5% of patients respectively. The following factors were identified; including age range 25–34 (OR: 0.169, p < 0.05), a lower education level (OR: 3.106, p < 0.05), service-holder mothers (OR: 0.604, p < 0.05), pregnancy interval of less than 24 months (OR: 4.646, p < 0.05), and gestational diabetes mellitus (OR: 2.702, p < 0.05). Dhaka district (IR: 1.46), Narayanganj district (IR: 1.11), and Munshiganj district (IR: 0.96) had the highest incidence rates. Conclusion Determinants of anaemia must be considered with importance. In the future, periodic follow-ups of anaemia should be scheduled with a health care program and prevent maternal fatality and fetus morbidity in patients with PE."Item Hypoglycemic and Analgesic Activity of Ethanol Extract of Polyalthia Longifolia Leaves on Experimental Mice(Pharmacology online, 2019-04-30) Khairuzzaman, M.; Azad, A.K.; Habib, Ahsan; Rahman, Atiqur; Ferdous, Jannatun; Islam, Ariful; Rahman, Tauhidur; Chowdhury, Tawabul AlamDiabetes is emerging new threats through different complications with time. Present study was designed to evaluate a hypoglycemic activity of Polyalthia longifolia leaves ethanol extract of along with analgesic activity. Oral glucose tolerance test showed significant result at dose 500mg/kg body weight of mice but not significant at dose 250mg/kg compare to control group where metformin was used as a reference standard. Analgesic activity of Polyalthia longifolia extract by acetic acid induced writhing method also showed mentionable effects that was 58% at dose 500mg/kg and 70% at 250mg/kg compare with standard diclofenac 78% writhing inhibition.Item Infusing public interaction in mixed use development through architectural intervention at Mirpur 2(BRAC University, 2012-08) Nova, Rahfatun Nisa; Mallick, Dr. Fuad H.; Ali, Zainab Faruqui; Khan, Tariq Mahbub; Shimul, Shakil Ahmad; Rahman, AtiqurDhaka city has been highly populated & the same time dense with both the planned & unplanned buildings. Some of them are governmental complexes which are sustainable & more open for mass gathering in comparison with the private commercial one. These commercial buildings are more than the governmental in number whereas these only serve for the spaces for the economic purposes. These growing high-rises have no scopes for public gathering whereas a proper public space is mostly needed for the people in Dhaka. Publicly interactive spaces are more important than any other things behind a successful marketplace. On the other hand, a commercial complex can bring a good example of cultural development through giving such spaces for societal activities in their complexes. This project site is in mirpur .Mirpur is physically the largest Thana of Dhaka. Mirpur was established as a sub- urban area.Since the urban spaces of the Dhanmondi Lake have transformed the lifestyle of Dhanmondi dwellers; public spaces in Mirpur can also be influential for local dwellers as it has an intense need for public spaces. Mirpur is quiet potential for public spaces, as it is known mostly after its landmarks such as National Zoo , National Botanical Garden ,National Cricket stadium, Shah Ali Mazar & National Intellectual Memorial . Although these are not completely ticket free places, the peripheral spaces of these complexes remain crowded most of the days & the eventful days show the extremity of demands for public spaces. Shahriar; Rahman, AtiqurIn healthcare, different data mining methods are used to mine dataset and then predict diseases using medical data with the help of many machine learning methods. Diabetic disease is spread out in the whole world comprehensively. A prosperous/advanced and skillful method is presented in this research including IoT to gain a better result from the diabetic dataset. The proposed system transmits diabetic data to the database through the cloud system using mobile or smart device or hospital management. If in the dataset has any missing value or abnormal value than the proposed intelligent system will handle it and will predict disease properly. The predicted data are also stored in the database, when users or medical management send a request by legal authentication it will give the predicted results from its system. The proposed system is evaluated using “Pima Indians Diabetes” data set. We use two words, one is RAW data set and another one is NEW data set. Raw data set refers to the “Pima Indians Diabetes Data Set” as it is and the New dataset is the manipulated dataset of the raw dataset. In the new dataset we manipulate some missing and some abnormal value using our technique. Rafeen; Islam, Md. IfranulGraphene nanoribbons and carbon nanotubes represent a novel class of low-dimensional materials. All these graphene based nanostructures are expected to exhibit the extraordinary electronic properties and therefore these are the promising candidates for a wide range of nanoscience and nanotechnology applications. So, in this work, the performance potential of ballistic graphene and silicon nanowire field effect transistors are examined for future high performance applications. CNT is graphite sheet with a hexagonal lattice that has been wrapped up into a seamless cylinder. GNR consists of carbon atoms arranged in a 2-dimensional honeycomb crystal lattice. And rode like silicon crystals with a diameter of less than 100 nm is referred to as SiNW. These materials are being used as the channel materials of the transistors. In this work drain current ID, transconductance gm, number of mobile charge, quantum capacitance CQ, gate capacitance CG, gate delay τ and cut off frequency fT of GNR, CNT and SiNW transistors have been calculated using ballistic top of the barrier model and then we plot those variables with respect to gate bias. To realize the performance of these three types of transistors, it is necessary to compare those characteristics with each other. On-current in carbon based channel is higher as well as ION/IOFF is higher than SiNW channel due to lower effective mass. Higher on-current indicates sharper slope in current curve which ensures higher transconductance. So, CNT transistor has the highest transconductance. The density of states(DOS) of CNT and GNR transistors are lower than SiNW transistor. And the reason behind small gate capacitance is low density of states. On-current, transconductance and gate capacitance control the switching speed of a transistor. So from the simulations it seems that graphene transistors can be the candidates for future digital switches. But it is also important that SiNWs in particular are potentially very attractive, given the central role of silicon in the semiconductor industry and the existing set of known fabrication technologies.Item Tomato Pest Recognition Using Convolutional Neural Network in Bangladesh(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2024-02-01) Polin, Johora Akter; Hasan, Nahid; Habib, Md. It is interesting to note that in Bangladesh, it is the second most significant vegetable consumed. Moreover, tomato is served not only as a vegetable, but it is also served as sauce, jam, etc., and used in making different types of cuisines. But the fact is due to the pests, thousands of tons of tomatoes are harmed every year in Bangladesh. The production of tomatoes in Bangladesh is harmed by a number of dangerous pests. We develop a solution to recognize pests at an early stage. Five different pest types, including aphids, red spider mites, whiteflies, looper caterpillars, and thrips, have been studied in this research. To identify tomato pests, we curated image datasets from online and offline repositories and processed them using a convolutional neural network (CNN) model. We used features from CNN layers for three machine learning algorithms: Random Forest (RF), support vector machine (SVM), and K-Nearest Neighbors (K-NN). This comprehensive approach allowed a thorough comparison of these algorithms in tomato pest recognition. For recognizing tomato pests, our methods generate excellent results. The accuracy of our experiment is 95.49% which indicates the successful completion of the experiment.Item Travelfy- a Web Application for Managing Tour Guide(Daffodil International University, 22-09-13) Rahman, Atiqur; Anik, MD.Sazzad HossainThe main goal of this project on an Advance tour guideline is to make travel for visitors simple and convenient, starting with locating the destinations and additional services like lodging and transportation. Two modules, Admin and User, make up this project. The admin of this Advanced Tourism System project will log in using the default username and password, and the admin has the power to add the travel package form Dhaka to any other location of different duration of travel and different budget, and can add hotels in different location. Admin will also add facilities available in those hotels such as parking space so that general user will find out about those facilities before booking those hotels. Admin can also add, remove, edit information any time. On the other hand, user will be able to search and book hotels only after they send their email and user name to the admin. They can also sign up in the website. The booking system will set the username and email direct form the account information. User will be able to find out the best available package within their budget. User will able to find hotel and book those hotels by submitting their request to the admin form booking form. No payment get way is integrated with it. So, after requesting for the booking the admin will perform remain actions manually. After choosing the appropriate details, following a successful payment, the booking confirmation will then be presented. The user can provide the administrator comments if he believes it is necessary.
