(University of Rajshahi, 2024) Sheikh, Md. Imran; Ali, Md. Borak; Nuruzzaman, Md.
Career planning has traditionally been defined as the process of evaluating personal strengths, values, and aspirations, setting up goals and objectives, determining the steps required to achieve them, and compiling this information into a written career plan that will be reviewed and updated on a regular schedule. Since the previous few decades, it has been one of the fastest-growing sectors of human resource management. The overall objective of the study was to examine the impact of career planning phenomena on the performance of academic professionals. This study aimed to explore the key dimensions of career planning for academic professionals. Besides, this study intended to assess the effect of career planning dimensions on the job satisfaction of academic professionals. Again, another purpose of the study was to examine the effect of career planning dimensions on the performance of academic professionals. In addition, this research wanted to measure the effect of job satisfaction on the performance of academic professionals. Moreover, this study was also designed to assess the mediation effect of job satisfaction between career planning dimensions and the performance of academic professionals. Furthermore, the present study also tried to examine the moderating role of motivation on the relationship between job satisfaction and the performance of academic professionals. The study employed a post-positivist research paradigm to address the issues underlying the career planning and performance of academic professionals in various job satisfaction and performance-related activities after carefully assessing the ontology, epistemology, methodology, and axiology of all four study paradigms. Therefore, this study used a mixed-methods approach as the outcome of one method complementing another method. Thus, this research employed a qual→QUAN-based approach as it belongs to the category of mixed-methods. The planned research was primarily qualitative, but the researcher would supplement its findings with quantitative data. For the qualitative study, the researcher conducted 21 in-depth interviews to collect the data for this study. The qualitative data was processed and analyzed with the help of NVivo 12 Pro software. Then, content analysis was performed for data analysis with the help of an interpretive phenomenological approach. After the completion of the qualitative study, a total of 459 respondents were used to analyze the quantitative data through the help of semi-structured questionnaires. The quantitative data was processed and analyzed by using the IBM SPSS 26 application program; the measurement model and structural relationship were analyzed with the help of SmartPLS version- 3.2.9. Thus, this study used a PLS-based SEM technique for quantitative data analysis. Besides, mediation and moderation effects were analyzed with the assistance of PROCESS macro in IBM SPSS 26. Therefore, the G*Power 3.1.9.2 software is utilized to conduct an analysis of the effectiveness of the research model.

(5th International Conference on Intelligent Computing and Control Systems (ICICCS), IEEE, 2021) Nuruzzaman, Md.; Hossain, Md. Shahadat; Rahman, Md. Mostafijur; Shoumik, Ahete Shamul Haque Chowdhury; Khan, Md. Abbas Ali; Habib, Md. Tarek
Potato is one of the tasteful vegetable in the list of our daily delicious food. At present, there are 42000 kind of potatoes available in the world. In Bangladesh, we cultivate 82 species every year. Potatoes are used for other purposes besides eating. So it is produced by thinking of other purposes besides eating. Different varieties of potatoes are used for different purposes. But People usually do not know which variety of potato is suitable for which work. We took this research step to solve this problem. There are currently some conventional common detection methods that are not very convenient. Therefore, we have introduced Machine Vision Recognition (MVR) procedure to discover a suitable technique. As if, through this method people can easily identify the potato species. In this research paper, we want to show how to identify different varieties of potatoes in Bangladesh using machine vision approach. We have been collected total 1200 potato imagers from four fact for our experience. To reach our aim, several machine learning algorithms have been applied to the datasets, like Random Forest Classifier (RF), Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA), Logistic Regression, Support Vector Machine (SVM), CART, NB, and KNN. Once we have been applied all the algorithms, different results have been shown by each algorithm. Logistic Regression shows the best result, which has an accuracy rate of 98%. In contrast, the lowest rate has been shown by the SVM. The accuracy rate of SVM is 33% which is not only a good fit for future research but also promising.

Promoting Factors of SMEs in Bangladesh: A Comprehensive Study
(University of Rajshahi, 2021) Rashid, Md. Abdur; Nuruzzaman, Md.; Mondal, A. K. M. Golam Rabbani
The specific objectives of this study are to investigate the effect of the promoting factors on the success of SMEs in Bangladesh and to identify the moderating effect of entrepreneur's skills between relationship of the promoting factors and the success of SMEs in Bangladesh. This study was conducted on 100 SMEs of Rajshahi District of Bangladesh by preparing the structured interview questionnaire in collecting the data about selected factors regarding SMEs of the owners and managers of the firm. Smart partial least squares (PLS) version 3.0 computer software based structural equation modelling (SEM) technique developed by Chin (1998); Gefen, Straub, and Boudreau (2000) was used to analyze the data as well as to test the associated hypotheses. A research model was developed after reviewing the literature and on the basis of that model hypothesis were developed. Quantitative approach and closed-ended questions were used in this study. The non-probability sampling specifically convenient sampling was used to draw the sample from research population. In this study, the survey was conducted among 450 respondents at the owner and managerial level of SMEs in Bangladesh where 399 questionnaires were usable. A 7-point Likert scale questionnaire was used to collect the information to measure the factors and constructs of the proposed model. In this research, data was analyzed by structural equation modelling. With the support of SPSS version 23 and Smart-PLS 3.0., this section deals with data. interpretation and conclusions in line with the hypotheses. The analysis is followed by the assessment of the measurement model in relation to convergent validity, construct reliability and validity, and eventually, discriminant validity in various sub-sections. To test the structural model, structural· model estimation, R2, f2, multi-collinearity (VIF) and predictive relevance (Q2) were used. The details of the path coefficient (direct relationship), the results of the study of moderation and mediation, the summary of “the hypotheses were presented. The result of this study shows that marketing network is most affecting factor that create the effect on the success of SMEs in Bangladesh. The findings of this study are beneficial to various stakeholders of SMEs in Bangladesh that includes owners, managers, employees, creditors, suppliers, customers, policy makers finally government and other various private organizations in making policy, strategy as well as setting goals. The most important contribution of the research is to identify the vital factors that affect the success of SME in Bangladesh.

Towards Socially Responsive Shrimp Farming: Land Tenure, Institutions and Sustainability in selected Commercial Shrimp Farming areas in South-Western Bangladesh
(© University of Dhaka, 2025-02-18) Nuruzzaman, Md.
This study investigates the land tenurial dynamics along with farming systems and land use patterns, and analyses the institutional relations seeking the social responses across the shrimp farming areas of south-western coastal districts. The research aim was to understand the land tenure issues with associated institutions, refute the criticisms that have been recycled over the decades, and describe the antecedent process of commercial shrimp farming growth in Bangladesh. In contrast, the previous studies explored mainly socially unresponsive activities, including land grabbing, dispossession, and salinity intrusion caused by farming systems. Little has been done in the context of positive social responses that have happened over time by the smallholder shrimp farmers towards addressing the sustainability issues and environmental problems. Using a mixed method approach that combines quantitative surveys, qualitative interviews, focus group discussions and case studies, this research examined land tenure, farming systems and institutional roles in three central shrimp-producing coastal districts: Bagerhat, Khulna and Satkhira. The study found the departure of influential outsiders, the successive fragmentation of large shrimp farms into smaller ones, farming shrimp on their land, lower productivity and less profitability, which resulted in reduced land-related litigations and illegal encroachment on adjacent crop lands. Secure access to land initiated new farming systems, and the land owners innovated and adopted indigenous techniques. Integration of shrimp-finfish- rice-vegetable farming systems emerged across the south-western coastal region, seen as a landmark transformation in land use patterns in small-scale shrimp farming. Less stock density, minimum use of feed and fertiliser, recycling of household and farm iii materials under a closed system of water use are considered the farming systems as environmentally benign in nature. The institutional role for developing shrimp farming and its sustainability in the study areas was not very favorable, while the de facto institutions played better roles than public sector institutions (de jure institutions). Most respondents demand technical and financial support from the public sector extension department, research institutions and government banks. This study also developed a conceptual framework termed “Socially Responsive Shrimp Farming (SRSF)‟, consisting of a list of criteria picked up from the national and international codes and principles to examine whether field practices are socially responsive. The thesis concludes that the small-scale aqua-agriculture farming is a dynamic system with several interconnections and operated mostly by smallholder land owners has now converted into a family-driven small-scale polyculture system where varieties of aquatic and agricultural foods are produced both for the global and local markets. The study recommends further research on performance evaluation and monitoring of the farming systems, as well as assessing the interconnections to devise a resilience-enhancing production system without compromising the environmental issues for the future development of the shrimp sector in Bangladesh.

(BRAC University, 2022-05) Sakib, Sadman Jashim; Joy, Baktiar Kabir; Rydha, Zahin; Nuruzzaman, Md.; Anik, Khaled Ahmmed; Rasel, Annajiat Alim; Abdullah, Matin Saad
Online education’s popularity has been continuously increasing over the past few years. Many universities were forced to switch to online education as a result of COVID-19. In many cases, even after more than two years of online instruction, colleges were unable to resume their traditional classroom programs. A growing number of institutions are considering a hybrid approach to education, in which some face-to-face teaching is augmented with online learning. Nevertheless, many online education systems are inefficient, and this results in a poor rate of student retention. In this paper, we are offering a primary dataset, a virtual teaching assistant named VTA-bot, and its system architecture. In addition, we are showing a first implementation of the suggested system, which consists of a chatbot that can be queried about the content and topics of the ‘Programming Language I’ course, an introductory programming language course offered by the CSE department of Brac University. Students in their first year of university will benefit from this strategy, which aims to increase student participation and involvement in online education.
