Audit Committee Characteristics and Sustainable Firms' Performance: Evidence From the Financial Sector in Bangladesh
(Scopus, 2024-12-25) Karim, Rejaul; Roshid, Md. Mustaqim; Dhar, Bablu Kumar; Nahiduzzaman, Md.; Kuri, Bapon Chandra
This study examines how audit committee characteristics influence sustainable firms' performance within Bangladeshi commercial banks. Using data from 26 publicly traded banks over 13 years (2011–2023), this research investigates the impact of audit committee size, independence, and meeting frequency on both financial and market-based performance metrics. Specifically, the findings reveal that larger audit committees (ACs) are associated with higher market valuation, indicating that committee size contributes to strategic oversight and governance effectiveness. Independent audit committee members also enhance both financial (Return on Assets) and market-based (Tobin's Q) performance, underscoring their role in promoting transparency, accountability, and alignment with sustainable goals. However, frequent audit committee meetings correlate with diminished performance, suggesting that overly frequent sessions may lead to inefficiencies rather than improved oversight. These results indicate that structuring ACs with balanced size and independence and avoiding excessive meetings, is essential to support sustainable growth, particularly in emerging economies such as Bangladesh. The study contributes to corporate governance and sustainability literature by providing empirical insights into audit committee practices that align governance structures with long-term corporate strategy and sustainable growth. Practical implications include the potential for regulatory reforms that enhance corporate governance, focusing on committee composition and meeting practices to foster sustainable firm performance in the financial sector.

Detection of Monkey pox Disease Using Computer Vision-Based Transfer Learning Models: A Comparative Study
(Daffodil International University, 23-02-13) Rahman, MD Mizanur; Nahiduzzaman, Md.
The world is now concern about monkey pox where the world is still infected by the deadly covid-19 virus. Monkey pox is not as infectious as covid-19 but it is a contagious disease. Monkey pox cases are being reported in many different countries in recent time . It is assumed that world will be facing another pandemic due to monkey pox if necessary precautions are not taken. Monkey pox transmitted through human to human or animal to human or animal to animal directly (physical contact: sex, skin to skin touch) or indirectly. It will be catastrophic if community transmission takes place. Artificial Intelligence(AI) has great improvement on image processing . It extracts unique features from the image. Machine learning has been used on the medical purpose by image diagnosis like cancer detection, covid detection. It is also used for classification. Monkeypox eruptive phase includes maculopapular rash on the skin. But it is difficult to identify because rash can be appeared for many reasons. Also monkeypox and smallpox lesions are quite similar so it makes more difficult to distinguish for doctors which one is it. Medical test such as PCR needed to identify monkeypox which is costly. Machine Learning provides some algorithms for image processing and classification. As skin lesion occurs due to monkey pox, monkey pox can be detected by image diagnosis in the early stage. People can then do tests to confirm monkey pox. Thus, Community transmission can be lessened and unnecessary cost for PCR or other diagnosis will be saved by adopting such machine learning application. We used MSLD dataset and deep learning algorithms: Mobile Net, InceptionResNet-V2 and DenseNet-201 to classify into monkey pox and Others. We developed a CNN model SkinNet-9 for monkey pox detection. Mobile Net and DenseNet-201 gave the best accuracy of 95.42% among these algorithms.

    Traffic Case e-Service
(Daffodil International University, 2021-06-17) Nahiduzzaman, Md.
This project entitled “Traffic Case e-Service” is a web-based application. This will work for the traffic police of Bangladesh to register new cases, and the victim can dismiss their case from anywhere in Bangladesh. The user will have their account registered and log in with this system by the account type. They will be able to access their own functionality. It is a very helpful project for Bangladesh traffic police. The main purpose of my system is to register a new case against the vehicle driver or owner and sent information to the vehicle owner. Nowadays most of the time the traffic police have to bear an invoice to write a new case, on the other hand, the vehicle owner doesn’t know about their driver's offense which he or she occurs on the road. Besides, there are many types of syndicates and also many corrupted officers who try to make money by enforcing some unlawful act with normal people. So, people face many types of hassle. In this system, the traffic police can write a case on the internet, and the vehicle owner can know about their driver's offense. The other functionality is that the driver or victim can dismiss their case from anywhere in Bangladesh, they don’t need to go to any specific police station for dismisses their case. This system will help the traffic police register a new case on the internet, as well as inform the vehicle owner, and also the victim can dismiss their case from anywhere in Bangladesh from any authorizer traffic police. The modern technology is used to implement an automated system to make it more secured. So, here is the proposed online-based solution “Traffic Case e-Service” to solve their traffic case issue in a short time.
