Item Admission control of multimedia sessions to a set of multimedia servers connected through an enterprise network(Department of Computer Science and Engineering, BUET, 2004-12) Monirul Islam, Md.; Akbar, Dr. Md. MostofaMultimedia transmission requires timely and ordered delivery of data with possibly no retransmission. As the number of users of multimedia applications is increasing day by day, overloaded servers and network congestion are also growing rapidly. These are among the main reasons for delay in accessing content from a server via a network path. Multimedia applications require a particular Quality of Service (QoS) level to be maIntained to fulfill users' satisfaction. But it has another goal: maximizing the earned revenue from the users for the network owner. As resources are not unbounded, some selection criterion is essential when the number of users requesting resources for multimedia data transmission is large and their requested QoS is to be maintained. A particular QoS can be maintained only when necessary server and network resources is reserved. Current technology like best-effort service is unsuitable for above-mentioned requirements because all packets compete equally for network resources. The necessity to develop better QoS solutions to address these issues of multimedia transmission has led Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). In this thesis we designed an admission controller for an Enterprise Network which maximizes the earned revenue from the admitted users among many of them requesting multimedia data transmission with guaranteed QoS in terms of both server and network resources. Our admission controller considers the selection of both a server from several alternatives as a source of multimedia data and a delivery route along with reservation of resources in the selected server and on the delivery route so that the satisfaction of all admitted users is achieved. We redefine the Service Level Agreement (SLA), a contractual agreement between a user and the network owner and specifying several levels of proposal in terms of QoS. Protocols for data transmission in different stages of the admission controller have also been pointed out. We designed necessary admission control algorithm and analyzed its complexity. Finally we simulated the admission controller, and performance data are collected extensively from a Java simulation program. We have also analyzed the performance 11 data with proper reasoning. The validation of the experiment has been presented by a graph theoretical analysis of the network and servers used for the simulation.Item Geotechnical characteristics of an expansive clay stabilized with lime and steel slag(Department of Civil Engineering, BUET, 2023-03-28) Monirul Islam, Md.; Mohamamad Shariful Islam, Dr.This study rigorously investigates the geotechnical characteristics of expansive soil when stabilized using lime and steel slag. Expansive soils are notoriously challenging in the field of civil engineering due to their propensity for significant volume changes in response to moisture variations. Such soils often lead to foundational instability in constructions, making their stabilization a topic of paramount importance. Lime and steel slag, recognized for their soil-stabilizing properties, are the focus of this study. Extensive laboratory experiments were conducted to evaluate the impact of these stabilizers on the geotechnical properties of expansive soil. The experimental design included varying percentages (wt %) of lime and steel slag, specifically 3%, 6%, 9%, 12%, and 15%. Additionally, combinations of lime and steel slag were tested, with ratios such as 1.5% lime with 1.5% steel slag, 3% lime with 3% steel slag, 6% lime with 6% steel slag, and 7.5% lime with 7.5% steel slag. All samples were meticulously prepared under optimal conditions: a moisture content of 25% and a maximum dry density of 15.17 kN/m3. These samples underwent rigorous unconfined compressive testing at intervals of 3, 7, 14, and 28 days. The results were illuminating: samples with a 15% lime content exhibited the highest strength, reaching 419 kN/m2, while those with steel slag and a combination of admixtures showed strengths of 342 kN/m2 and 339 kN/m2, respectively. An intriguing observation was made regarding the samples' preservation method. Stored in a desiccator and sealed in zip-locker plastic bags, the samples did not gain strength significantly after fourteen days, attributable to the hindrance of the cementation reaction in the absence of water. This insight underscores the critical role of environmental conditions in soil stabilization processes. Moreover, the study found that samples with a lime mixture containing 99% CaO outperformed those with steel slag and the combination of lime and steel slag in terms of strength enhancement. The swelling potential and pressure of the soil were observed to decrease with increasing additive amounts, with a 9% admixture ratio identified as optimal for reducing the swelling index. Additionally, the pH levels exhibited stable conditions when the lime and steel slag combination was utilized. A comprehensive microstructural analysis, conducted using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), revealed significant insights. The formation of a distinct microstructure was noted, along with a marked improvement in the soil's mechanical strength. This study contributes valuable knowledge to the field, offering practical solutions for addressing the challenges posed by expansive soils through the use of lime and steel slag.Item Investigation of Air Effluence Using IoT and Machine Learning(2023-12-20) Perbhez Shakil, Shalah Uddin; Abul Kashem, Mohammod; Monirul Islam, Md.; Mahmud Nayan, Nasim; Uddin, JiaAir pollution poses a significant issue in numerous cities worldwide, impacting public health and the environment. We study three significant cities under the Dhaka division, including Kuril Bishow Road, Uttara, and Tongi. Traditional air quality monitoring methods often need more coverage and accuracy. Leveraging Internet of Things (IoT) technology as well as machine learning (ML) algorithms, this study deploys an IoT-based sensor network using Arduino boards and various devices, including MQ135, DHT22, PM2.5, MQ9, and dust sensors to gather real-time values on air pollutants. The gathered data, including sulfur dioxide, ozone, particulate matter 2.5, nitrogen dioxide, particulate matter 10, as well as carbon monoxide, provides a comprehensive view of city pollution levels. ML models such as linear regression, decision trees, K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN), Naive Bayes (NB), Gradient Boosting (GB), and Random Forest classifiers are applied to predict pollution levels using environmental parameters. The Random Forest classifier achieves an impressive prediction accuracy of . Evaluation metrics, including precision, recall, F1 score, Kappa score, mean square error (MSE), root mean square error(RMSE), along mean absolute error (MAE), are used to assess the performance of the models. This study demonstrates the potential of IoT technology along with ML algorithms in accurately predicting air pollution levels, aiding in environmental management and public health efforts in urban areas.Item Neural network model for invariant pattern recognition(Department of Computer Science and Engineering, BUET, 1996-04) Monirul Islam, Md.; Shamsul Alam, Dr. Md.A pattern recognition system using Artificial Neural Network (ANN) classifier is proposed. The system is intended to recognize translated, rotated aod scaled versions of the exemplar patterns. The model proposed for this system consists of two parts. The first is a preprOCessor and the second is an ANN classifier. Preprocessing is done in two stages. In the first stage, projection from each active bit of the pattern is taken in such a way that for any rotated or scaled version of the exemplar pattern, the projected values become cyclically shifted of those of the exemplar pattern. For translated version of the exemplar pattern, the projected values remain same. The second stage performs Rapid Transform (RT) on the projected values. Thus, for an ideal case when rotated or scaled pattern is assumed to be noise free and distortionless, the outputs of the preprocessor are invariant to rotation, scal~g and translation. However, in practical case, rotation and scaling always insert some amount of noise in the input pattern. Therefore, the preprocessed outputs in response to a rotated or scaled pattern appear to be somewhat different from those of exemplar pattern. The second part of the system is an ANN classifier trained by backpropagation algorithm chosen especially for its good ability to deal with variation of inputs within the same category. The outputs of the preprocessor are then fed into the ANN classifier. In spite of the variation present in the preprocessed outputs due to rotation and/or scaling, the ANN classifier is expected to classify the input pattern correctly. The proposed model is tested extensively with teo numeric digits (0 - 9). With these patterns, the proposed model achieves considerably good degree of invariance to rotation and scaling. The performance of the system also depends on the number of input and hidden units of ANN classifier. Foreign buyer from all over the world put their order in Bangladesh for the low production cost and high profit. Because the worker wages are very low in Bangladesh. In recent time production cost increased in RMG sector by many causes. Garment defect is one of them. This article is encouraged by many unavoidable reason in rejection of large number of finished garments. The fast changing economic conditions such as global competition, declining profit margin, short lead time, new product development and buyer demand for high quality product at low cost push the manufactures to reduce their production cost. But they aren’t compromise to the quality. So this is the big challenge for the manufacturer to increase production and reducing cost garment against certain specification provided for quality standard. In this report investigates different causes that is responsible for garments defects, rejects and wastage and discusses some short- term and long-term solutions that should be taken for reducing wastage in the apparel industries. We completed our thesis project on Study on fabric and Garments Inspection of woven Garments factory. This paper clearly explains the trims and accessories reports, fabric inspection report, daily garments alter (%) report, In-line garments inspection report, pre final garments inspection report, final garments inspection report, daily styling check report, hourly measurement report, bottom quality inspection report, Rejection analysis report. This project based on the different types of fabric and sewing defects and their remedies. In the textile industry, Inspection is basically done before the shipment. This Project is done by Dekko Desings Limited. In this industry sewing section has 2nd, 3rd , 4 th and 5th floors. There are 8th sewing line per sewing floor and total sewing line are 32. Monthly production capacity 1049374 Pcs/month, number of line 32, number of M/C 3347, number of manpower 5560. In our study, we are focus on important of sewing defects and fabric defects, how to control sewing defect in garment industry, how to work pre-final and final and final ©Daffodil International University vi inspection and I am trying to identify that problem, reason and their remedies. In my project, I have investigated 20 sewing defect reports from sewing input to output of finishing section. From the analysis of the reports, we find different types of defect that are found in sewing and finishing section. But it was observed that sedimentation inside the. beels were not uniformly distributed in the previous and current TRM practices in Beel Kedaria and East Beel Khuksia due to technical and operational problems/limitations during TRM process. In the present practice of TRM operation, a link canal is constructed to connect the beel with the river. This results in sediment deposition at the mouth of the link canal, preventing further sedimentation inside the wider area of beel. In this study sediment management options for uniform sediment deposition in tidal basins have been identified in consideration of existing problems of current TRM practices through review of literature, related reports, studies and better sedimentation inside the beel. Three options for sediment management inside the tidal basins have been identified. In Option-I, existing khal is connected with the river by constructing one link canal and allowing sedimentation in the beel. In Option-2, beel is divided into three \ compartments by constructing embankment around the compartment and allowing sedimentation in the compartments one after another. In Option-3, embankments are constructed along both banks of the main khal through the beel and cutting the embankment part by part gradually from upstream to downstream. Technical feasibility of these options have been assessed by a cohesive sediment transport model using MIKE2I FM modelling system. Deposition volume in Beel Baruna in Jessore district for the three options have been assessed. The total deposition volume af1er four years operation for Option-I, Option-2 and Option-3 are 2.28, 2.97 and 3.12 million m3, respectively, in the beel area. Provision of dredging or manual re-excavation has been considered for all of the three options. It has been found that the maximum sediment deposition occurs in Option-3 and the minimum sediment deposition occurs for Option-I. Level of deposition for different options have been analyzed and found that deposition is more uniform in Option-3. The total construction costs of four years operation for different options also have been estimated. The minimum cost is required for Option-3.
