Item Antimicrobial susceptibility of Neisseria gonorrhoeae isolated in Bangladesh (1997 to 1999): rapid shift to fluoroquinolone resistance(2002) Rahman, Motiur; Sultan, Zafar; Monira, Shirajum; Alam, Ashraful; Nessa, Khairun; Islam, Sonia; Nahar, Shamsun; Shama-A-Waris; Khan, Shahnewaz Alam; Bogaerts, Jozef; Islam, Nazrul; Albert, JohnItem Biodiversity of intestinal microflora in severely malnourished children with cholera(© University of Dhaka, 2025-05-04) Monira, ShirajumItem Effects of Time on Dyeing of Different Cotton Fabrics with Reactive Dye(Daffodil International University, 2012) Monira, Shirajum; Haque, Md.Rashedul; Hasan, M.K.Aim of this project is to evaluate the effect of time, absorbency of dyed material reflectance (%) value of different cellulose fabrics by dyeing of 100% reactive dye. We have cotton knit and woven fabrics for dyeing. These will specifically address the subject of dyeing at single stage and consideration to the selection of dyeing agent. It is to be hoped that by the end of theis paper the reader will have a better idea about the time, what are the importance of time in a dye bath and which time is better and widely used in the dyeing operation.Item EPIDEMIOLOGICAL STUDY OF DENGUE VIRUS INFECTION IN HOSPITALIZED PATIENTS(Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Khulshi, Chattogram-4225, Bangladesh, 2020-06) Monira, ShirajumAn Arboviral infection, Dengue Fever (DF), which has emerged as its two severe forms including Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever (DHF) and Dengue Shock Syndrome (DSS) is found in tropical and subtropical regions around the world. It has shown a massive global increase in frequency of epidemics along with an increase in disease incidence over the past three decades predominantly in urban and peri-urban settings. This study was conducted to assess the sero-epidemiology of dengue viral infection among the clinically suspected patients admitted in two medical facilities such as Enam Medical College (EMC) and Savar Upazila Health Complex (UHC)) in Savar, Dhaka during January to December 2019. Blood samples were collected from total 449 suspected patients and separated sera were tested for NS1 dengue antigen, anti-dengue IgM, and IgG antibodies using commercially available diagnostic test kits. Out of 449 patients 329 (73.27%) were serologically positive for dengue specific antigen and antibodies. Among them, 136 (60.7%) from EMC and 166 (73.8%) patients from UHC were found positive for Dengue NS1 Antigen. Total 28 were positive for anti-dengue IgM and IgG antibodies test and among them only 2 patients showed recent infection. IgM positive dengue patients were 5.8% in EMC and 6.7% in UHC. The percentage of IgG positive dengue patients from both hospitals were similar and it was 5.8%. This study represents the presence of Dengue virus in Savar Upazila of Dhaka district and corresponds one of the few studies to evaluate the seroprevalence of Dengue virus in Bangladesh. A substantial percentage of suspected patients in this study was negative by dengue tests suggesting other infections of similar clinical presentations that are becoming prevalent in the study area.Item Evaluation of Photo-degradation of Alatrol® (Cetirizine Hydrochloride) Under different Extreme lighting Condition: An UV Analysis(East West University, 8/4/2017) Monira, ShirajumThis work was aimed for the determination of photo-degradation of Cetirizine Hydrochloride. The objective of this study was to determine the effect on Cetirizine Hydrochloride under various extreme lighting conditions which comprised of sunlight, incandescent bulbs of 25watt & 40watt bulb. In normal lighting condition degradation of cetirizine hydrochloride was not reported. Under different extreme lighting conditions potency ceased differently with a percent deviation of 3.67% (1.54%) , 9.34% (2.53%) and 16.58% (3.09 %) respectively for 25 watt,40 watt and direct sunlight respectively. So it can be said that the Alatrol® containing Cetirizine Hydrochloride is light sensitive and coating alone is not sufficient to protect the drug from light. So that package should be opaque thus light cannot pass through the package.Item Fastness Properties Analysis Between Levafix Blue CA and Levafix Fast Red CA During Jute-Cotton Union Fabric Dyeing(©Daffodil International University, 2022-07-17) Iqbal, Md. Asib; Maniruzzaman, Mohammad; Ali, Engr. Taher; Monira, Shirajum; Akter, SoniaReactive dyes are extensibly used for dyeing and printing cellulosic fibre containing cellulosic portion. Levafix Blue CA & Levafix Fast Red CA both is Reactive dyes widely used in Jute and jute-cotton union fabric dyeing. From the experimental result, it has observed that the result of strength & fastness properties is different from Levafix Blue CA and Levafix Fast Red CA. Here we showed that Levafix Blue CA is better than Levafix Fast Red CA.Item Psychosocial factors mediating the effect of the CHoBI7 intervention on handwashing with soap : a randomized controlled trial(2017) George, Christine Marie; Biswas, Shwapon; Jung, Danielle; Perin, Jamie; Parvin, Tahmina; Monira, Shirajum; Saif-Ur-Rahman, K.M.; Rashid, Mahamud-ur; Bhuyian, Sazzadul Islam; Thomas, Elizabeth D; Dreibelbis, Robert; Begum, Farzana; Zohura, Fatema; Zhang, Xiaotong; Sack, David A; Alam, Munirul; Sack, R.
