(Chattogram Veterinary & Animal |Sciences University, 2012-02) Mohammad, Nur
Antimicrobials are administered in food animals for two purpose; therapy against bacterial pathogens and for promoting muscle development. Residues of these substances may remain in meat and may pose a real threat to the consumer either through exposure to the residues, transfer of antibiotic resistance or allergy risk. This has exerted a great concern among researchers, clinicians and consumers worldwide. The present study was conducted for the detection of antibacterial residues in cattle muscle and liver. Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) method was used for detection of the presence of Oxytetracycline, Amoxicillin, Ciprofloxacin, Gentamycin and Cephalosporine residues in muscle and liver tissues. Samples (N=50) of cattle meat (muscles and liver) were collected from different market of Chattogram Metropolitan Area during the period of February, 2019 to March, 2019. The samples were extracted with trichloroacetic acid (30%), diethyl ether, followed by detection in pre-coated TCL paper on UV detector. Antibiotic residues were detected in 10% cattle meat. The residues of oxytetracycline were found in 4% of liver sample and 2% of muscle sample. Automated railway signaling system
(Department of Technical and Vocational Education (TVE), Islamic University of Technology (IUT), 2014-11-15) Mohammad, Nur; Al - Mamun, Md.
The railroad industry’s own desire to maintain their ability to provide safe and secure transport of their customers hazardous materials, has introduced new challenges in rail security. Addressing these challenges is important, as railroads, and the efficient delivery of their cargo, play a vital role in the economy of the country. The present project is designed to satisfy the security needs of the railways. This system provides the security in four ways: automatic gate opening/closing system at track crossing, signaling for the train driver, tracking the signals, and the track protection. The automatic gate opening/closing system is provided with the Reflection sensors placed at a distance of few kilometers on the both sides from the crossing road. These sensors give the train reaching and leaving status to the embedded controller at the gate to which they are connected. The controller operates (open/close) the gate as per the received signal from the Reflection sensors. The train driver always observes the signals placed beside the track. These signals are controlled from the control room. The green light denotes that the track is free and red light denotes the track is busy or damaged. These signals are controlled based on the train position which is sensed by using the Reflection sensors placed along the track. The position of the train can be estimated by using the Reflection sensor placed along the track and is displayed on the control room to indicate the train position along the track. The track protection is achieved by providing the closed loop along the track. If any crack or cut is occurred to the track simultaneously the same happens to the closed loop. This gives a signal to the controller at the control room. From control room we can give the red signal by knowing the position of the train through the Reflection sensors.

Converter Based Frequency Adjustment and Protection of Grid-tied Wind Farm
(1st International Conference on Advances in Science, Engineering and Robotics Technology 2019, IEEE, 2019-12-19) Ahmad, Kanij; Mohammad, Nur; Quamruzzaman, Muhammad
Frequency adjustment and protection of a wind turbine due to wind gust is a salient aspect of the grid-tied wind farm. Both of them require conserving system stability. This paper presents an investigation of the converter based frequency adjusting method and wind turbine protection. A grid-tied wind power system model using the Doubly Fed Induction Generator in MATLAB is used. To regulate the active power output, synchronization between wind velocity and wind turbine speed is adjusted. Thus, wind farm operated at grid frequency and maximize turbine output. The control strategy of the converter based frequency synchronization of a grid-tied wind farm also includes protection subsystem. The protection system executed by receiving information from the logical block implemented in the wind farm model. It provides wind turbine protection by terminating wind turbine from a grid in abnormal wind conditions. The Simulation result validates the results and control methods.

Perspectives and pathways to a Carbon-free Advanced Power Network (CAPN) in Bangladesh for sustainable development
(Cleaner Energy Systems, 2025-01-13) Shufian, Abu; Md Tanvir, Rahman; Shib, Sowrov Komar; Dipto, Durjoy Roy; Kabir, Shaharier; Fattah, Shaikh Anowarul; Mohammad, Nur; Mannan, Mohammad Abdul
The twenty-first century is marked by an urgent need to combat global warming and environmental degradation, primarily driven by the extensive use of fossil fuels for energy production over the past two centuries. As the world faces the severe consequences of climate change, the transition to renewable energy (RE) has become a critical focus of sustainable development strategies. Renewable energy sources (RES) such as solar, wind, and biomass are not only environmentally friendly but also essential for achieving long-term energy security and economic stability. The importance of RE is underscored by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG-7, which aims to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all. SDG-7 highlights the necessity of increasing the share of RE in the global energy mix, improving energy efficiency, and promoting international collaboration to enhance clean energy research and technology. This research explores how Bangladesh can achieve a 100 % reliable and adaptable renewable energy (RE) output by 2050, focusing on the transition away from gas, coal, and oil-based power systems as the primary strategy for reducing fossil carbon emissions. The study examines the pathways to establishing a fully decarbonized and cost-effective energy grid in Bangladesh, emphasizing the challenges of converting the existing non-renewable power grid into a flexible and reliable RE system. From both technological and energy perspectives, the research investigates alternative methods and technologies to conventional fossil-dependent power systems and their potential to lead Bangladesh into a post-fossil fuel era. As a result, the proposed Carbon-free Advanced Power Network (CAPN) 2021–2050 model will offer the most cost-effective and environmentally friendly energy generation solution, with minimal greenhouse gas emissions and a fully carbon-free output. Intelligent energy management systems will play a key role in this transition. According to the suggested roadmap, there will be no need to construct new gas, coal, furnace oil, or nuclear power plants, and the existing fossil fuel capacity will be gradually phased out as it reaches the end of its technological lifespan.

Report on Power Grid Company of Bangladesh
(East West University, 2011-04-28) Neela, Tania Tahmid; Mohammad, Nur
Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (pGCB) is created under the restructuring process of Power Sector in Bangladesh. This report is based on our internship work in Power Grid Company of Bangladesh at Manik Nagar branch. A power system has three basic segments, i.e. power generation, power transmission and power distribution. Basically Power Grid Company of Bangladesh deals with transmission part only. It primarily focuses on different processes of power transmission in power grid. We were introduced with various equipment of Power Grid, such as Relay, Circuit Breaker, Power transformer, Bus bars, Disconnector, Wave trap, Cable, DC battery. We worked at PGCB as intern for 80 hours. Each day our activities were divided into three parts. yustly our supervisor talked to us about the theory behind our day topic. Then we visited the grid with our supervisor to relate theory with practical implementation. Finally we visited the grid again to gather ourselves information about the equipment of that day. Here we learned about power transmission and the behavior of various equipment used in grids. This report contains a detail description about some of these equipments. As we did not complete any major course related to power prior to doing the internship, we had to face hurdles. It would be beneficial and better for us if we had completed the courses Switchgear, Power Station and Power Electronics.

Review on Frequency Adjustment for Power Systems with Grid Connected Wind Farm
(1st International Conference on Robotics, Electrical and Signal Processing Techniques, ICREST 2019, IEEE, 2019-02-21) Ahmad, Kanij; Mohammad, Nur; Quamruzzaman, Muhammad
Continues expanding of wind power harnessing demands an effective control system to improve quality power delivered from wind turbine to grid. A stable power system fully depends on the synchronization that means matching of frequency between the source of power generation and existing power grid. The prime objective of a wind farm controller is to ensure effective operation of the wind farm in any wind speed condition. Frequency deviation between the wind system and grid can challenge the well-built operation of a power system and can imbalance the synchronization between wind farm and grid. The strategy of frequency adjustment is developing time to time which starts from using droop controller based Induction generator to converter based Double-fed Induction generator. This paper summarizes an analytical study on various frequency adjustment mechanisms for a grid-connected wind farm.
