This research paper explores innovative approaches to improve the quality of single images through the application of Deep Learning techniques, specifically GAN architectures. The research focuses on developing an efficient and feasible model that can be trained in a consumer-grade GPU. Among various architectures, the research focused on the RRDB model for further development. With the modification of the RRDB model and the implementation of activation functions combination and proper loss functions, this research seeks to achieve enhanced performance and effectiveness. Finally, the proposed model MSRGAN was developed which was capable of training on a consumer-grade GPU with an average amount of video RAM. The model possesses the capability for 4x upscaling. For testing the performance, the research used PSNR and SSIM evaluation metrics where the MSRGAN has outperformed the basic SRGAN and ESRGAN.Item A Global Study on the Correlates of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution(Daffodil International University, 2022-02-10) Abir, Tanvir; Mamun, Abdullah Al; Zainol, Noor Raihani; Khanam, Mansura; Haque, Md. Rashidul; Milton, Abul Hasnat; Agho, Kingsley EmwinyoreThis study aimed to explore the association between the GDP of various countries and the progress of COVID-19 vaccinations; to explore how the global pattern holds in the continents, and investigate the spatial distribution pattern of COVID-19 vaccination progress for all countries. We have used consolidated data on COVID-19 vaccination and GDP from Our World in Data, an open-access data source. Data analysis and visualization were performed in R-Studio. There was a strong linear association between per capita income and the proportion of people vaccinated in countries with populations of one million or more. GDP per capita accounts for a 50% variation in the vaccination rate across the nations. Our assessments revealed that the global pattern holds in every continent. Rich European and North-American countries are most protected against COVID-19. Less developed African countries barely initiated a vaccination program. There is a significant disparity among Asian countries. The security of wealthier nations (vaccinated their citizens) cannot be guaranteed unless adequate vaccination covers the less affluent countries. Therefore, the global community should undertake initiatives to speed up the COVID-19 vaccination program in all countries of the world, irrespective of their wealth.Item A Hotel Booking Web App(DAFFODIL INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY, 2024-09-12) Mamun, Abdullah AlBook Ease is an easy-to-use online solution for hotel room bookings. Rokebul; Rhaman, Dr. Md. KhalilurAs the number of vehicles is increasing day by day; traffic jams are becoming very common in big cities like Dhaka. Due to this frequent traffic jams at major junctions, lots of man hours are being wasted. Lack of trained traffic police officers and old manual traffic light control system made this problem worse in many cities like Dhaka, Chittagong. Thus it creates a need for an efficient traffic management system. The paper proposes to implement an intelligent traffic control system which is based on the measurement of traffic density on the road using real time video and image processing techniques. The image sequences from a camera are analyzed using object detection and counting methods to obtain the most effective techniques. As in Bangladesh Rickshaw is the most popular vehicle and detection of Rickshaw was never done before efficiently. This model has addressed that problem efficiently. The number of vehicles at the intersections is evaluated and traffic condition could be smartly managed. The computed vehicle density can be compared with other parts of the traffic lanes in order to control the traffic signal intelligently. The system will detect vehicles under different challenging conditions and it has an advantage that we will use RFID sensors to ensure law enforcement. Thus any car or vehicle which breaks traffic rules can be easily caught. By this paper we intend to present an improvement in existing manual traffic control system. It also discusses about using the timer for each phase and detecting vehicles through images instead of using electronic sensors embedded in the road. Finally the traffic lights will be controlled according to the traffic conditions on road.Item An Ethnographic History of Film in Bangladesh, 1956-2015(University of Rajshahi, 2020-10) Haider, Kazi Mamun; Ahmed, Bokhtiar; Mamun, Abdullah Alবাজার ব্যবস্থাপনা, বিপণন, বাজারিকরণ ও মান বিবেচনায় বাংলাদেশের চলচ্চিত্র অন্য সব সময়ের চেয়ে বর্তমানে ভয়াবহ সঙ্কটের মধ্যে রয়েছে। এর সবচেয়ে বড়ো উপসর্গ সারাদেশে একের পর এক প্রেক্ষাগৃহ বন্ধ হওয়া। পরিবর্তন এসেছে দর্শক ও আধেয়তে। বিষয়টি সামাজিক স্তরবিন্যাসের সঙ্গে সঙ্গে সামাজিক শ্রেণির সঙ্গেও সম্পৃক্ত। এই পরিস্থিতিতে চলচ্চিত্রের পরিসরকে নিচ থেকে মানে প্রান্তিক মানুষ যেমন, প্রেক্ষাগৃহ সংশিষ্টø ব্যক্তি ও সমসাময়িক দর্শকের দিক থেকে অনুসন্ধান করা হয়েছে। সেই অনুসন্ধানে যেমন গবেষকের নিজের অভিজ্ঞতাকে মেলানো হয়েছে, তেমনই এ সংμান্ত বিদ্যমান যে তত্ত¡, তথ্য ও বোঝাপড়া আছে, তারও সমন্বয়ের চেষ্টা করা হয়েছে। আর এই তিনে মিলে যে ইতিহাস রচনা করা হয়েছে, তাই বাংলাদেশের চলচ্চিত্রের নৃতাত্তি¡ক ইতিহাস হয়ে উঠেছে। ১৯৫৬ তে মুখ ও মুখোশ দিয়ে পূর্ববঙ্গে যে চলচ্চিত্রযাত্রা শুরু হয়েছিলো তা দর্শকের কাছে প্রযুক্তির জাদু-বাস্তবতা হিসেবে হাজির হয়। এই সময়ের চলচ্চিত্রের দ্ইুটি বিষয়কে মাথায় রাখতে হয়েছে। একটি গ্রামীণ কৃষিজীবী সমাজের যে আখ্যান, উপাখ্যান, রূপকথা, পরিচিত সাহিত্য ও তাতে জাদু-বাস্তবতা প্রয়োগ এবং অন্যটি শহুরে শিক্ষিত মধ্যবিত্ত শ্রেণি, যারা তাদের নিজেদের গল্প চলচ্চিত্রে নির্মাণের চেষ্টা করেছেন। জাদু-বাস্তবতা, মধ্যবিত্তের নিজের গল্প বলার চেষ্টা ও গ্রামীণ উপাখ্যান এই তিন মিলে ৬০ দশকে তখনকার রাজনৈতিক ইতিহাস ছাপিয়ে সামাজিক ইতিহাসের টানাপড়েন চলচ্চিত্রে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ হয়ে উঠেছে। ৭০ দশকে রাষ্ট্রবিপ্লবের উচ্ছ¡াসে রাষ্ট্রীয় বিনিয়োগে জাতীয় চলচ্চিত্র নির্মাণের আকাক্সক্ষা সৃষ্টি হলেও তা শিক্ষিত মধ্যবিত্তের সমাজ-বাস্তবতার সঙ্গে সমন্বয়হীনতার কারণে ঠিক যা ঘটার ছিলো তা ঘটেনি। রাষ্ট্রীয় বিনিয়োগে জাতীয় চলচ্চিত্র নির্মাণের আকাক্সক্ষায় কিছু না হওয়ায় তা ৮০’র দশকে ইন্ডাস্ট্রি অর্থে চলচ্চিত্রের প্রতিবন্ধকতা হয়ে দাঁড়ায়। একটা পক্ষ এ সময় ব্যাপক বিনোদন বাণিজ্য শুরু করেন, সফলও হন। ফলে ৯০ দশকে গিয়ে সামাজিক প্রতিষ্ঠান হিসেবে প্রেক্ষাগৃহের ভিত্তি নষ্ট হতে থাকে। এছাড়া স্যাটেলাইট টেলিভিশন, সিডি প্লেয়ার চলচ্চিত্রের সমান্তরালে দাঁড়িয়ে যায়। সব মিলিয়ে উল্লেখযোগ্য সংখ্যক নারী দর্শক প্রেক্ষাগৃহ ত্যাগ করেন। তখন কেবল অন্য প্রাযুক্তিক সুযোগ নেই এমন লোকজন প্রেক্ষাগৃহে আসতে থাকেন। ফল হিসেবে নারী দর্শকবিহীন প্রেক্ষাগৃহে সহিংস ও যৌনচলচ্চিত্র প্রদর্শন শুরু হয়। শূন্য দশকে তা চরম আকার ধারণ করে এবং সামাজিক প্রতিষ্ঠান হিসেবে প্রেক্ষাগৃহ তার সর্বশেষ চরিত্রটুকু হারিয়ে ফেলে। এই পরিস্থিতিতে ৭০ ও ৮০’র দশকের উত্তরাধিকার বহন করা একটি পক্ষ নতুন ধরনের চলচ্চিত্র, সিনেপ্লেক্স বাণিজ্য ও ইন্টারনেট ভিত্তিক বিনোদনে সম্পৃক্ত হয়। সেই বিনোদনে মধ্যবিত্ত, উচ্চবিত্ত প্রবলভাবে উপস্থিত থাকলেও গণমানুষ নেই বললেই চলে। এ রকম একটা বোঝাপড়ার আলোকে এই অভিসন্দর্ভে বাংলাদেশের চলচ্চিত্রের নৃতাত্তি¡ক ইতিহাস লেখার চেষ্টা করা হয়েছে।Item Antidiabetic Potential of Commonly Available Fruit Plants in Bangladesh: Updates on Prospective Phytochemicals and Their Reported MoAs(Scopus, 22-12-08) Alam, Safaet; Hasan, Anik Dhar Muhib; Richi, Fahmida Tasnim; Emon, Nazim Uddin; Aziz, Md. Neamul Kabir; Haque, Mohammad Rashedul; Mohamed, Isa Naina; Rashid, Mohammad A.Diabetes mellitus is a life-threatening disorder affecting people of all ages and adversely disrupts their daily functions. Despite the availability of numerous synthetic-antidiabetic medications and insulin, the demand for the development of novel antidiabetic medications is increasing due to the adverse effects and growth of resistance to commercial drugs in the long-term usage. Hence, antidiabetic phytochemicals isolated from fruit plants can be a very nifty option to develop life-saving novel antidiabetic therapeutics, employing several pathways and MoAs (mechanism of actions). This review focuses on the antidiabetic potential of commonly available Bangladeshi fruits and other plant parts, such as seeds, fruit peals, leaves, and roots, along with isolated phytochemicals from these phytosources based on lab findings and mechanism of actions. Several fruits, such as orange, lemon, amla, tamarind, and others, can produce remarkable antidiabetic actions and can be dietary alternatives to antidiabetic therapies. Besides, isolated phytochemicals from these plants, such as swertisin, quercetin, rutin, naringenin, and other prospective phytochemicals, also demonstrated their candidacy for further exploration to be established as antidiabetic leads. Thus, it can be considered that fruits are one of the most valuable gifts of plants packed with a wide spectrum of bioactive phytochemicals and are widely consumed as dietary items and medicinal therapies in different civilizations and cultures. This review will provide a better understanding of diabetes management by consuming fruits and other plant parts as well as deliver innovative hints for the researchers to develop novel drugs from these plant parts and/or their phytochemicals.Item Application of Big Data(Daffodil International University, 2021-05-11) Mamun, Abdullah Al; Sochy, Rifat JahanRice is the staple food of Bangladesh's 135 million people. It accounts for nearly half of all rural jobs, two-thirds of the total calorie supply, and one-half of total protein intake for the average person in the region. In Bangladesh, the rice sector accounts for half of the agricultural GDP and one-sixth of national income. Rice is grown by nearly all of the country's 13 million farm families. Rice is grown on approximately 10.5 million hectares, a figure that has remained nearly constant over the last three decades. Rice is cultivated on about 75% of the total cropped area and over 80% of the total irrigated area. As a result, rice is critical to the Bangladeshi people's survival. In our paper, we have worked on different types of rice. They are- Aus, Aman and Boro. We also worked with potatoes. Potato is a major tuber crop in Bangladesh. Potatoes can lower the risk of hypertension, stroke, increases antioxidant activity and prevent diseases. During the winter, potato is widely grown in all of Bangladesh's districts. During 1997-98, 1,36,332 ha of land were used for potato cultivation. To feed its 135 million inhabitants of Bangladesh, it is important to predict the yield of these major crops accurately. There are some weather parameters including humidity, temperature, sunshine, cloud coverage influences the yield of crops. Thus, in our study, we aim to predict yield of rice (Aus, Aman, Boro) and potato utilizing Data mining and Machine learning techniques. We applied 6 regression algorithms to predict the Yield of these crops. We have used- Gradient Boosting Regression, Neural Network Regression, Decision Tree Regression, Random Forest Regression, SVM, Linear Regression and Lasso Regression. Our study also shows that Gradient boosting Regression algorithm performs better than the other six algorithms used in this study to predict the yield of Rice and Potato. Our study will be a baseline study for future work to predict the yield of cereal crops (e.g., rice, and wheat) and potato in Bangladesh.Item Association between socioeconomic status and prevalence of non-communicable diseases risk factors and comorbidities in Bangladesh: Findings from a nationwide cross-sectional survey(BMJ Open, 3/13/2019) Biswas, Tuhin; Townsend, Nick; Islam, Md Saimul; Islam, Md Rajibul; Gupta, Rajat Das; Das, Sumon Kumar; Mamun, Abdullah AlObjectives This study aimed to examine the prevalence and distribution in the comorbidity of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) among the adult population in Bangladesh by measures of socioeconomic status (SES). Design This was a cross-sectional study. Setting This study used Bangladesh Demographic and Health Survey 2011 data. Participants Total 8763 individuals aged ≥35 years were included. Primary and secondary outcome measures The primary outcome measures were diabetes mellitus (DM), hypertension (HTN) and overweight/obesity. The study further assesses factors (in particular SES) associated with these comorbidities (DM, HTN and overweight/obesity). Results Of 8763 adults, 12% had DM, 27% HTN and 22% were overweight/obese (body mass index ≥23 kg/m2 ). Just over 1% of the sample had all three conditions, 3% had both DM and HTN, 3%DM and overweight/obesity and 7% HTN and overweight/obesity. DM, HTN and overweight/ obesity were more prevalent those who had higher education, were non-manual workers, were in the richer to richest SES and lived in urban settings. Individuals in higher SES groups were also more likely to suffer from comorbidities. In the multivariable analysis, it was found that individual belonging to the richest wealth quintile had the highest odds of having HTN (adjusted OR (AOR) 1.49, 95% CI 1.29 to 1.72), DM (AOR 1.63, 95%CI 1.25 to 2.14) and overweight/obesity (AOR 4.3, 95%CI 3.32 to 5.57). Conclusions In contrast to more affluent countries, individuals with NCDs risk factors and comorbidities are more common in higher SES individuals. Public health approaches must consider this social patterning in tackling NCDs in the country.Item Automated cheque clearing system: tools and practices in Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited(BRAC University, 12/26/2013) Mamun, Abdullah Al; Islam, Md. TamzidulThis report is my academic learning and practical observation of clearing system of bank. I have prepared this report on the ground of Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited (SJIBL). Since the inauguration in 2001, SJIBL has been able to keep up strong position in all key areas covering capital adequacy, good asset quality, sound management, good earning and strong liquidity. It has also been able to emerge as a leading financial institution with highest level of reputation in the country. SJIBL is governed by its Shariah board and is consider one of the largest 'islami' banks in Bangladesh. As it is consider that payment systems are a vital part of the economic and financial infrastructure of the country. Safe and efficient payment systems are critical for maintaining the stability of the overall financial system. The report is mainly focus on comprehensive study about the automated cheque clearing system, tools and mechanism required to operate the automated clearing system. It highlights the comprehensive benefit of automated system for different stakeholder like Bangladesh Bank, business people, commercial bank and the clients itself. In line with the Core Banking Solution, Shahjalal Islami Bank Ltd. has successfully implemented Bangladesh Automated Cheque Processing System (BACPS) as well as Bangladesh Electronic Fund Transfer Network (BEFTN) as per Bangladesh Bank Guideline. For betterment of Customers’ services, Bank has expressed and deployed different channels like ATM, POS, and Debit Cards etc. services. To make the Banking operation faster, easier, more efficient and even more effective to serve its valued customers on 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, Bank also provide the Internet and Mobile Banking facilities to their clients. Automated clearing system is a new horizon in the financial infrastructure development initiative in Bangladesh. Following the worldwide pattern, the Government of Bangladesh (GoB) introduced its first contribution-based Universal Pension Scheme (UPS) on 17 August 2023, aiming to address the economic security concerns of the country’s rising older population. In this type of model data we are dealing with does not possess any relation that is persistent, rather this data have some different properties. They arrive in real time, continuous, time varying, rapid and infinite streams of data. This paper introduces a model for the delayed and unordered arrival of streams. In addition, this thesis work also introduces the concept of using buffers and algorithmic issues for stream management purpose reviewing the past related works and also the ongoing research in this area. This thesis proposes a model and an algorithm that will deal with the coordination of the tuples that do not arrive in due time and in some cases they just lost forever. The sites are vanishing and the cell phone is rising it. It has turned into a piece of our everyday life. It gives us more agreeable and a superior UI. These days, everybody loses or loses things or items all over. In any case, there are a few people who will, in general, be in a steady condition of looking for lost things. We frequently observe a few people who loses his keys, ID card, wallet, or telephone and so forth at any rate once every day. They need to get back those. Some of the time it would be exceptionally troublesome for anybody to get those items or things. That’s why we have developed an Android application for finding missing products or things. This application contains functionality to add the complaint about both lost user and found a user. Users can add their product details like product name, model, IMEI number and others specific things. It will store in the database. Similarly, if any user finds that product he or she can also add product details by using this app. Then they can both check their data if someone already has found or lost. Actually, it will be matched from the system and let the user know whether it is matched or not. This ingenious system involves a cap-mounted accelerometer hooked up to an Arduino Nano microcontroller, which detects movements and maps them to directional instructions. This enables the exact functioning of motors with the help of a dual motor driver which is powered by a 24V battery. To guarantee the safety of the device, a voltage regulation mechanism on the exporting side acts to protect components by holding power at a specific point. Thanks to adaptive code logic, the hands-free device is made smoother and more stable throughout the project. The joystick-free system benefits user function ability but could be a cause for concern for users with a restricted hand motion. A completely new hardwired configuration (and some coding to eliminate signal noise while moving). This outcome is a cost-effective, intuitive solution that significantly enhances independence and quality of life for the end-user. It demonstrates a robotic unit based on Arduino UNO and Adafruit Motor Shield where the code is written in Arduino IDE Software. Obstacle avoidance is one of the considerable key factors for developing mobile robots. The implementation of the Ultrasonic Distance Sensor placed on the Micro-Servo Motor yielded more precision for detecting the surrounding objects. This designed robot is different than other available robots because of the integration of a Magnetic Buzzer and a CC RGB Diffused LED by which it has achieved the ability to indicate object detecting procedure and control the speed of DC Gear Motors in 4 types of circumstances. As an autonomous robot, the potentiality to maneuver through unknown conditions without creating any impact was executed. Furthermore, this designed technology can be deployed for military operations and humanitarian assistance by improving the capacity of object detection in diverse environments.Item Determination of Standard Measurements of T-shirt for Young Adults of Bangladeshi Origin(Daffodil International University, 2021-01-18) Mamun, Abdullah Al; Hossain, Md. Ready-made garments production requires standard measurement for each age group which depends on anthropometry. Measurement of ready-made garments varies on the anthropometry of a nation. The goal of the study was to develop a measurement chart and identify the size ratio and color preferences of both male and female young adults of Bangladeshi origin which is not in literature. A different point of measurement along with their heights of 409 males’ and 356 females’ young adult for the Tshirt was taken. Based on height, the male and female young adults were categorized into five sizes (S, M, L, XL, and XXL). It is found that the size ratio was around S: M: L: XL: XXL = 6: 32: 37: 18: 7 and 17: 30: 34: 13: 6 for male and female respectively. Proposed standard measurement of Length from highest point of shoulder, Centre front length, Armhole, Sleeve length, Neck width, Across shoulder, Half chest and Hem Width for size L for male is 68 cm, 63 cm, 23 cm, 19.5 cm, 21 cm, 44 cm, 49 cm and 49 cm for respectively. Preferences of color are quite wide of both male and female, most preferred color is blue among the male and black among the female. Two-third female adults preferred short sleeve t-shirt. One of the main causes of this problem is manual control of the traffic. If the traffic signaling system can be automated then this problem could be solved to a greater extent. In this work, an automatic traffic control system has been developed using a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). For this purpose, we used Allen-Bradley MicroLogix PLC. The system is developed for a junction of four roads only. Traffic light models are implemented using several red, green and yellow Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) that are connected to the output ports of the PLC. According to the PLC programming, the LEDs are operated in a definite sequence. For energizing different parts of the system, a 24 V DC voltage source is used. The Rockwell software is used for PLC programming. Electric potential is generated on the beam surface. How much electric energy is generated, was simulated by comsol multiphysics. However, there is no understanding of the familial and socio-cultural factors that provide barriers to ensuring tobacco-free homes in Bangladesh either in urban or rural areas (U&RAs). This study therefore investigates those barriers to help enable a move towards tobacco-free homes in Bangladesh. Design Comparative cross-sectional study. Settings Data were collected from both urban and rural settings in Bangladesh. Participants A probability proportional sampling procedure was used to select 808 participants in U&RAs out of a total of 3715 tobacco users. Semi-structured interviews through the use of a questionnaire were conducted with the participants followed by a multivariate logistic regression analysis of the data in order to explore the familial and socio-cultural factors associated with tobacco use at home. Results The prevalence of tobacco use at home was 25.7% in urban areas and 47.6% in rural areas. In urban areas: marital status (adjusted OR (AOR)=3.23, 95% CI 1.37 to 6.61), education (AOR=2.14, 95% CI 1.15 to 3.99), the smoking habits of elderly family members (AOR=1.81, 95% CI 0.91 to 2.89), offering tobacco as a traditional form of leisure activity at home (AOR=1.85, 95% CI 0.94 to 2.95) and lack of religious practices (AOR=2.39, 95% CI 1.27 to 4.54) were identified as significant socio-cultural predictors associated with tobacco use at home. In rural areas: age (AOR=5.11, 95% CI 2.03 to 12.83), extended family (AOR=3.08, 95% CI 1.28 to 7.38), lack of religious practices (AOR=4.23, 95% CI 2.32 to 7.72), using children to buy or carry tobacco (AOR=3.33, 95% CI 1.11 to 9.99), lack of family guidance (AOR=4.27, 95% CI 2.45 to 7.42) and offering tobacco as a traditional form of leisure activity at home (AOR=3.81, 95% CI 2.23 to 6.47) were identified as significant determinants for tobacco use at home. Conclusion this study concludes that socio-cultural traditions and familial norms in Bangladesh provide significant barriers for enabling tobacco-free homes. The identification of these barriers can aid policymakers and programme planners in Bangladesh in devising appropriate measures to mitigate the deadly consequences of tobacco use in the home. The consequences also include the dangers involved in family members being exposed to secondhand smoke.
