Item A Case Study and Fraud Rate Prediction in e-Banking Systems Using Machine Learning and Data Mining(Scopus, 2021) Nuha, Musfika; Mahmud, Sakib; Sattar, AbdusRecently banking sector of Bangladesh is undergoing in a revolutionizing change. Over the last few years, Bangladesh’s banking industry has achieved remarkable momentum. Especially radical change has come in e-banking and mobile banking sectors. Because of convenience, easy to use, time saving and less complexity, both educated and uneducated people are using those facilities. At the same time, fraudulent activity is also rising rapidly. It is noticed that fraudsters use scary tactics and emotional manipulation to obtain sensitive or confidential customer information instead of coding-based hacking process. As a result, cyber security is the main challenge for the banking sector in Bangladesh. The purpose of the research is to determine the key factors behind increasing fraudulent activities. Concurrently, this study focuses on the relationship between lack of awareness and likeliness to be affected by fraud. In order to acquire the specified purpose of this study, several investigations were conducted on primary and secondary data. Results show that there is a strong correlation between lack of awareness and likeliness to be affected by fraud. 76% people have no idea about e-banking and mobile banking fraud. Furthermore, our findings show that 86.3% of victims of e-banking or mobile banking fraud had no prior knowledge of this type of fraud. Simultaneously, 13.7% of victims in those sectors had prior knowledge of fraud. The aim of this paper is to review the overall scenario of the circular economy (CE) model in Bangladesh toward sustainable development. The study relies on the descriptive analysis of both qualitative and quantitative data, collected mostly from secondary sources with some in-depth interviews of the experts in the relevant field. The overall environmental status of Bangladesh, prospects, prac- tices, and challenges of the circular economy model were thoroughly discussed in this paper. Though there are prospects to switching towards CE, the study reveals that the CE model's applicability is very limited in Bangladesh, being exercised mostly through recycling processes in some industries. Most importantly, we attempted to explore what is holding the CE practice in Bangladesh back, and iterated some policy, technical, and public participation barriers existing in Bangladesh. This paper will benefit the policymakers in developing countries in general and Bangladesh in particular to look more into the matter and hope to present ideas for future researchers to work on the idea of CE in the context of particular sectors and subsectors of Bangladesh.Item Crime Rate Prediction and Spot Detection System Using Machine Learning and Data Mining(Daffodil International University, 2020-07-26) Mahmud, Sakib; Nuha, MusfikaAnalysis of crime is a methodological approach to the identification and assessment of criminal patterns and trends. We have to go to many places every day for our daily purposes and many times in our everyday lives we face numerous safety problems such as hijack, kidnapping, harassment, etc. In general, we see that when we need to go anywhere at first, we are searching for google maps, google maps show that one, two, or more ways to get to the destination, but we always choose the shortcut route, but we don't understand the path situation correctly. Is it really secure or not that's why we face many unpleasant circumstances, in this job we use different clustering approaches of data mining to analyzing the crime rate of Bangladesh and us also used K-Nearest Neighbor(KNN) algorithm to train our dataset, For our job, we are using main and secondary data, By, analyzing the data, we find out for many places the prediction rate of different crime and use the algorithm to determine the prediction rate of the path. Finally, to find out our save route, we use the forecast rate. This is a global competition organized by Microsoft Corp since 2003, where students compete to come up with ideas to solve different global crisis or problems using modern technology. The response of this competition from the youth of Bangladesh is huge. Tackling minor drawbacks, hundreds of students from different backgrounds and universities takes part in the Imagine Cup. This research paper is prepared to assess the most recent version of Imagine Cup took place in Bangladesh, “Imagine Cup 2016, Nation Final, Bangladesh.” To assess the competition, primary sources have been used to collect the data. The participants in the final were asked to fill up questionnaires which had quantitative as well as qualitative questions. Those questionnaires have been analyzed by me and the findings have been deduced based on the quantitative portion of my questionnaire. In the recommendation of part of this research paper, help was taken from the qualitative portion of questionnaire to suggest what can be done to make the competition better and more efficient. In the findings section, 4 variables and a question have been analyzed to conclude the feedback of the participants. After analyzing each of those variables, the individual variable rating is shown along with pie chart in the finding section. The result of all the variable were then used to conclude the ultimate outcome of the research paper. And the result of satisfaction among the participants were really impressive, with almost 100% plans to participate in the upcoming events. In the discussion part, results of all those variables have been discussed in details. To assess the effect of this competition, ideas of the national champion and runners up team is highlighted on the latter part of the report. The ideas were really impressive and is believed will help general people significantly and change lives for the better. Last but not least, the impact on Microsoft through Imagine cup is also discussed briefly. In the concluding section, some recommendations were made by me to improve the completion better and more accessible to the youth of our country. Microsoft is really successful organizing such events to meet global crisis by the hand of future leaders. The youths of our country is also contributing to that and they are coming up with brilliant ideas to make the world a better place to live. The contribution of Microsoft Bangladesh is invaluable to our youth as they help them promote their ideas to a worldwide platform through Imagine Cup.Item MIM based plasmonic Refractive Index (RI) sensor, Demultiplexer and Filter with Resonant Cavities.(Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering(EEE), Islamic University of Technology(IUT),, 2022-05-30) Mahbub, Tahmid; Rabbani, Qazi Mahabub-A-; Mahmud, SakibThree high-yielding plasmonic refractive index (RI) structures are proposed in this the- sis. Those are sensor, demultiplexer and filter. To meet contemporary sensing demands in various industries, such as medical, forensic, and industrial, a sensor consisting of a U-shaped cavity connected with a sub-annular circle was developed. An ultra modern plasmonic 1x2 demultiplexer was made to meet the lackings of conventional demulti- plexers such as reduction of bandwidth wastage and minimization of signal delay. The final proposed model of this thesis is a triple ring resonator filter. The optimized filter shows promising results with the minimum possible transmittance. All three struc- tures were constructed using gold as the metal base to ensure minimum oxidation. The wave-solver is COMSOL Multiphysics, which uses the Finite Element Method (FEM) by default. The computational precision of COMSOL Multiphysics is demonstrated through re-simulations of existing structures. Furthermore, the refractive index and the resonant wavelength are linearly related in all three proposed sensors created using the nanoimprint lithography technology. To perceive unknown materials, this linear relationship is used. Furthermore, plasmonic structures’ structural properties are sus- ceptible to changes. As a result, the proposed structures are subjected to intensive simulations and optimization processes in order to improve their performance. The proposed sensor was a plasmonic refractive index sensor that had an initial sensitivity of 1320 nm/RIU. After proper optimization, a maximum sensitivity of 3120 nm/RIU was obtained. The proposed second work with triple ring resonators with rectangular stubs had an initial transmittance dip of 0.062 is observed at the wavelength of 974.7 nm. This re- sult was optimized by adding and varying various structural parameters. The optimized transmission dip obtained is 0.0023 at the wavelength of 912.5 nm which is very low and thus most of the energy is blocked or filtered. The final structure is a 1×2 channel demultiplexer with concentric ring and nanodisk directly coupled with MIM waveguide. Despite using gold, high quality factor of 22 and 25 were achieved for port 1 and port 2 respectively after intensive optimization. Besides channel spacing of 124 nm was also found.
