Item Clinical profile, antibiotic susceptibility pattern of bacterial isolates and factors associated with complications in culture‐proven typhoid patients admitted to an urban hospital in Bangladesh(Wiley Online Library, 2/12/2018) Khatun, Halima; Islam, Shoeb Bin; Naila, Nurun Nahar; Islam, Syed Aminul; Nahar, Baitun; Alam, Nur Haque; Ahmed, TahmeedTyphoid fever is one of the major causes of morbidity and mortality in typhoid endemic countries like Bangladesh. However, data on the clinical and microbiological profile as well as factors associated with complications of typhoid in Bangladesh are scarce. We intended to characterise the clinical and microbiological profile of culture-proven typhoid fever and to identify factors associated with complications. Methodology: Retrospective analysis of clinical data from 431 patients with culture-confirmed typhoid fever admitted to Dhaka hospital of International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh, between January 2010 and December 2014. Clinical and microbiological profiles of the patients including age, sex, and duration of illness prior to hospital admission, haematological parameters and the antimicrobial resistance profile of the infecting isolate, duration of hospital stay and defervescence time were examined by logistic regression to identify the factors associated with complications. Result: About one of three patients were children under 5 years, and 21.5% of them were severely malnourished. During hospitalisation, 17.4% patients developed complications; mainly encephalopathy (6.7%), ileus (6.5%) and pneumonia (3.5%). Among culture-positive cases, 28.3% isolates showed multidrug resistant (MDR) and more than 90% of isolates were resistant to nalidixic acid and had intermediate sensitivity to ciprofloxacin. Five isolates were resistant to azithromycin; all isolates were sensitive to cefixime and ceftriaxone. Complication was independently associated with duration of fever before admission (adjusted odds ratio: 0.85; 95% CI: 0.074–0.97; P < 0.05), thrombocytopenia on admission (AOR: 2.84; 95% CI: 01.06–7.57; P < 0.05), duration of hospital stay (AOR: 1.34; 95% CI: 1.15–1.57; P < 0.01) and defervescence time (AOR: 0.83; 95% CI: 0.70–0.99; P < 0.05). Conclusion: The high prevalence of typhoid fever among under-five children and complications among hospitalised patients are matters of concern. Sensitivity of Salmonella Typhi to ceftriaxone and cefixime was better than to other conventional antibiotics. Shorter duration of fever and thrombocytopenia on admission can be considered as early signs of complications. © 2018 John Wiley & Sons LtdItem Food Rotting Prediction and Detection System for warehouse(Independent University, Bangladesh, 2023-07) Rahman, Mahfuzur; Shafi, Fardin Ahsan; Khatun, Halima; Oshin, Nabilah Tabassum; Sufian, MD Abu Sauri; Kabir, Ashraful; Uddin, Mohammad Rejwan; Shidujaman, Mohammad; Hasan, Mahadythis thesis paper presents an elementary approach to food spoilage detection and prediction in a warehouse setting, offering a practical and cost-effective solution to reduce food waste and improve food safety. This project develops a device that can predict and detect food spoilage in a timely and accurate manner by utilizing different gas sensors, temperature, and humidity sensor to predict and detect the presence of spoilage in stored food. The gathered data from the stored food is then processed and analyzed by the system. The output is displayed on an LED screen and a buzzer goes off to alert the food keepers. The project also involves the development of a user-friendly interface to allow for easy monitoring and management of the system. It uses a Bluetooth module to transmit the resulting data from the system. The findings of the study demonstrated the effectiveness of the Food Rotting Prediction and Detection System, with the sensors providing reliable data for predicting and detecting food spoilage. A mixed method analysis including thematic analysis and predictive modeling allows for more robust validation of the findings, as the results can be triangulated across different data sources.Item "RFAD automation process” of Air Alliance Ltd. (UPS)(BRAC University, 2018-12) Khatun, Halima; Al-Din, Zaheed Husein MohammadWe learn knowledge from different things, experiences and environments by reading different categories of books. Generally, as a student, we gather theoretical knowledge in our whole life. So, we need practical knowledge in our life. We gather practical and theoretical knowledge which are different from each other. We gain practical knowledge which is require for matching theoretical knowledge. Internship Program which was taken by BRAC University is an effective step for the student of BRAC University to gain practical knowledge. As a Business Graduate Student, seeing the business in real life is very important for gaining practical knowledge. The objective of Internship program is to prepare the graduate with the practical organizational environments so that we can make ourselves fit for the future job and can get an opportunity to reconcile the theoretical knowledge with real life situation. For this purpose, internship program is essential for the BBA Program. Assignment is an inseparable part of university education. It is the combination of university education as well as practical knowledge. Considering the above facts, faculty of BRAC Business School, BRAC University has given an opportunity to prepare a report for BBA student. I have prepared my internship report on the basis of experience and activities that I have observed and performed during my internship period. I have put my level best effort to submit this report and overcoming the limitations.Item U flow-net: integration of flow estimation and kernel-based method in a modified u-net architecture for video frame interpolation(IUB, 2025-01) Tabib, Fatin Israq; Khatun, Halima; Sarker, Shuvro Souravarchitecture relies on the addition of flow estimation layers during the downsampling process, which allows relevant motion details to permeate into frame synthesis. This design, in conjunction with a progressive refinement approach, guarantees high-fidelity output while remaining computationally efficient. Extensive experimental evaluations with Tarzan were performed using the Vimeo90K, UCF101, and Middlebury datasets. Extensive experiments evaluate UFlow-Net's performance against many previous optical flow models in terms of Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) and Structural Similarity Index (SSIM) of the interpolated results, with improved maintaining of structural detail and spatial coherence in UFlow-Net interpolated frames. Though UFlow-Net outperforms current methods by a large margin, it may still struggle in very complex background scenes or images with highly rapid motion. The following are limitations that guide further studies in video frame interpolation technology. This research has significant practical implications. The accuracy and computational efficiency balance of UFlow-Net renders it especially applicable to real-world video enhancement tasks. This work makes a major step forward in the development of high-quality video processing systems and looks positive for future work.
