Item A review on Donepezil in the treatment of Dementia(BRAC University, 2024-02) Islam, Shahidul; Yasmin, HasinaDementia is a syndrome of acquired deficits in multiple domains of cognition severe enough to interfere with everyday life and not due to impaired consciousness or the effects of a systemic illness. Memory is usually the most severely affected domain initially and gradually it affects other cognition related activity like orientation, language, judgement, perpetual ability and praxis (the ability to carry out complex actions). Alzheimer disease is the most common cause of dementia, and may be involved majority of the cases. It is a primary degenerative disease which leads to dementia of insidious onset, most commonly in later life. Donepezil a second-generation cholinesterase inhibitor used in the treatment of dementia due to Alzheimer disease which helps to improve cognition and behavior.Item Development deposit products Of National Bank Limited(Uttara University, 2021-05-22) Islam, ShahidulThis report provides a comprehensive overview of National Bank Limited (NBL), a prominent scheduled commercial bank in Bangladesh registered under the Bangladesh Bank. Ismail; Islam, Shahidul; Islam, Mohammad SaifulThis study investigates the dynamicity of behavior of IT users in Bangladesh. By collecting data from 300 IT users in Dhaka Metropolitan City, researchers conducted descriptive statistics, a number of chi-square tests, and t-test and found a number of key findings as to the behavior of IT users in Bangladesh. First, Most of the IT users fall in the age category less than 35 years. IT users are highly educated and have income category of BDT 5000-BDT 30000. Second, young people, who are students or joined the job recently, are mostly influenced by family members and friends/co-workers. Third, students and fresh executives, who are the critical mass of this study, mostly use IT for accessing internet. Finally, quality, brand, service facilities, and product configuration are the most important attributes to IT users and have significant relationship with the entire demographic variables under study.Item Financial analysis of introducing renewable lithium battery storage system for Dongjin Longervity Industry Limited(BRAC University, 2026-01) Islam, Shahidul; Hoque, Mohammad EnamulI have been recruited as a Finance Intern at Dongjin Longervity Industry Limited. I have analyzed the market feasibility for introducing a lithium renewable battery storage system in Bangladesh. The nation’s energy demands have been increasing. There are possibilities of supportive government policies for renewable energy in the future. On the contrary, electricity costs have been rising. Thus, the lithium renewable battery market has potential growth opportunities. Dongjin has good networks with engineering firms, biomedical equipment manufacturers, and government projects. Thus, the company can think about introducing renewable energy storage solutions. Nevertheless, a complete analysis provides major opportunities and challenges. Regulatory unpredictability, huge initial investment costs, technological adaptation challenges, and economic instabilities affect consumer behavior and are the major challenges in this regard. Furthermore, environmental awareness regarding battery disposal as well as uncertainty regarding supply chain carry probable risks. Though these challenges linger in the corner, my analysis shows that going into this market would align with Bangladesh's sustainability goals. In the long run it will benefit Dongjin. To achieve the goal, Dongjin needs to focus on selecting strategic partners and exhaust their existing resources. Dongjin Longervity Industry Limited may avail a big piece of cake in the growing demand for sustainable energy solutions. They should foster an environment of long-term growth and profitability. This analysis will shed light on these vital points.Item Perspectives on the Molecular Mediators of Oxidative Stress and Antioxidant Strategies in the Context of Neuroprotection and Neurolongevity(Daffodil International University, 2022-08-26) Shohag, Sheikh; Akhter, Shomaya; Islam, Shahidul; Sarker, Tonmoy; Sifat, Moinuddin Khan; Rahman, Md. Mominur; Islam, Md. Rezaul; Sharma, RohitMolecules with at least one unpaired electron in their outermost shell are known as free radicals. Free radical molecules are produced either within our bodies or by external sources such as ozone, cigarette smoking, X-rays, industrial chemicals, and air pollution. Disruption of normal cellular homeostasis by redox signaling may result in cardiovascular, neurodegenerative diseases and cancer. Although ROS (reactive oxygen species) are formed in the GI tract, little is known about how they contribute to pathophysiology and disease etiology. When reactive oxygen species and antioxidants are in imbalance in our bodies, they can cause cell structure damage, neurodegenerative diseases, diabetes, hypercholesterolemia, atherosclerosis, cancer, cardiovascular diseases, metabolic disorders, and other obesity-related disorders, as well as protein misfolding, mitochondrial dysfunction, glial cell activation, and subsequent cellular apoptosis. Neuron cells are gradually destroyed in neurodegenerative diseases. The production of inappropriately aggregated proteins is strongly linked to oxidative stress. This review’s goal is to provide as much information as possible about the numerous neurodegenerative illnesses linked to oxidative stress. The possibilities of multimodal and neuroprotective therapy in human illness, using already accessible medications and demonstrating neuroprotective promise in animal models, are highlighted. Neuroprotection and neurolongevity may improve from the use of bioactive substances from medicinal herbs like Allium stadium, Celastrus paniculatus, and Centella asiatica. Many neuroprotective drugs’ possible role has been addressed. Preventing neuroinflammation has been demonstrated in several animal models.Item Report of the baseline survey of potential erosion and flood affected areas of Jamuna Multipurpose Bridge Project(BRAC, 1997-04) Chowdhury, Pijush Kanti; Rafi, Mohammad; Jakariya, Md.; Islam, ShahidulThis is a reoort on the baseline survey of the households within the area demarcated by the Jamuna Multipurpose Bridge Authority (JMBA). This area spreads over 12 km to the north and 10 km to the south of the bridge. This area covers both charland and mainland. In the mainland. The survey area covers half a kilometer inland from the riverbankline on both sides of the river. The survey covers households in 44 chars and 132 villages which spread over 13 unions and 5 than as under the two districts. namely Tangail and Sirajganj. JMBA issued identity cards to those households whose lands were acquired in 1992 and 1993 for the bridge. About 7% of the households covered by this survey are holders of these identity cards. The percentage of households with ID cards is 9.3% for Tang ail and 4.25% for Sirajganj. The total number of households under this survey is 24,035. These households have a population of 129,031 and the average size of these households is 5.4. Of these households 6.9% are female headed. The survey covered 44 chars of different age and size. The age (habitation period) of these chars varies from 4 to 65 years. These chars have a number of community facilities such as mosque, madrasah, primary schools etc. ln certain unions of Sirajganj and Tangail districts, there is a concentration of handloom weaving factories. The survey area has a total of 416 factories with a total of 3875 workers under them. The value of land per decimal in these chars as reported by the local people varies from Tk.30 to 1300 in the case of agricultural land and from Tk. 30 to 1200 in the case of homestead land. The average size of households under the survey is 5.4 for Tangail. 5.3 for Sirajganj and 5.1 for erosion affected areas. The percentage of household members within the age group of 15-59 is 50.3 in the survey area while this percentage is 49.24 at the national level (1991 census). The population pyramid of the survey area as a whole is almost symmetrical with that of the national level. The unmarried population of the households under the survey constitutes 55.7 and the married 39.9. The difference between these percentages for the charland and that for the mainland is small.
