An Analysis on Constitutional Prohibition against Forced Labour and Legal Issues in the Context of Bangladesh
(East West University, 2023-01-18) Islam, Shafiqul
Forced labour or compulsory labour or in some cases slavery refers to perform involuntary work under the menace any of penalty or coerced to work under violence or intimidation, or manipulated debt, threats etc. While the major portion of forced labour is out of sight, the conditions that create forced labor are clearly visible. They are the most vulnerable and come from impoverished communities or from areas of conflicts and disasters. That is why, traditionally, most of the time they cannot be attracted by the existing law and prohibition. They deprive of their constitutional rights and other legal protections. The goal of this research is to determine which parts of Bangladesh's constitution guarantee the prohibition against forced labour and regarding with this what are the other constitutional and legal rights which they are actually deprived of. The research also tries to identify possible reforms that the government may implement in compliance with international legal regime. To that end, this research looked at the effectiveness of existing legal frameworks concentrating on constitutional law and concluded with a thorough scenario on the topic.

Bangla character recognition for Android devices
(BRAC University, 2015-12) Manzur, Shahrin; Islam, Shafiqul; Foysal, Abu; Chowdhury, Aparajita
In this paper, we illustrate our attempt to create editable documents from images by retrieving the text. The process is widely known as Optical Character Recognition (OCR). We have tried to build an Android application for detecting Bengali characters. Previously, several attempts have been made in developing a Bengali OCR. However, there were a few limitations which drove us to work on this project. In order to recognize more characters and joint letters, we decided to work on reducing the error rate to preserve more texts. To serve our purpose, we found the Tesseract OCR engine and Leptonica Image Processing Library to be the best option. Tesseract is used in order to recognize the characters and Leptonica is used to build an Android application by extracting data from the text. We are using the Tesseract 3.03 version currently available to work on this project. Moreover, we demonstrate how we obtained better results by manipulating Tesseract along with Serak to create box files and trained data. In addition to that, we discuss how we dealt with joint letters, dangerous ambiguity and contrast issues in order to increase efficiency. Furthermore, we explain our analyzed data, our progress and the future scopes of improvement.

(BRAC University, 2021-07) Islam, Shafiqul; Kabir, Eva Rahman; Yasmin, Hasina
Pain management is an integral part of treatment in cancer. Researchers are constantly trying to find effective and efficient ways to manage pain, particularly in cancer patients, as well as devices to administer the drugs without further causing pain to the patient. Microneedles (MNs) are small needle-like devices, used to distribute drugs across the skin's membranes, are non-invasive and cause little or no discomfort at the site of administration to the skin. They can be considered to be used in the delivery of medications for managing pain in cancer patients, efficiently and effectively with minimal discomfort. The aim of this review is to compile current ideas and treatment methods for cancer patients' pain management in order to spur further progress.

Mood Predictor an IoT Based Robot
(Daffodil International University, 2020-12-31) Hasan, Hamidul; Johra, Fatematuz; Das, Partho Sharothi; Islam, Shafiqul
‘Mood Predictor IoT Based Robot’ is an IoT based project in which a webcam will capture a video. Then it will compare that image with the database. Here we’ve used the deep face database. We’ve got this idea from Facebook. In the earlier days, the number of data in the deep face was not very big but nowadays it is increasing day by day because Facebook users are uploading images more and more. It’s a kind of facial expression system. We’ve stored the data by getting the idea from the deep face. Like the deep face, we’ve stored pictures with some expressions. In our database, we have stored some data like happy, sad, neutral expressions. From the taken image it’ll compare whether the image is happy, sad, or neutral. Firstly, it’ll compare it with a happy expression if it's true then the system will show the output. If not, it’ll compare with sad and again it fails then lastly, it’ll compare with neutral. And play song on YouTube depends on mood. We can capture all the information and compare it with all possibilities of human emotion which is stored in our dataset. If no data is matched then it’ll show a message like EXIT. Our project is not complicated. There is no contradiction in this project. Corresponding to the expressions it’ll show the output.

Fabric inspection process is most important stages in garments sector. Whether fabric faults is an important parameter for rejection of fabrics. We have gathered a large experience about this project. We have increased our knowledge about how the inspection is done, problems of inspection & how those problems are minimized. This study investigated the knit fabric inspection process in a garment industry for the reasons of increasing faults and the priorities were determined for the improvement studies regarding rejection percentage. During data collection, the fabric inspections faults were determined. As a result, the knit fabric production process was concluded statistically. In addition, there was a statistically significant relation the faults amounts in term of rejection. Finally some suggestions are made for improving the quality of fabric inspection by minimizing the fabric inspection faults.
