As health consciousness increases, the worldwide demand for cabbage continues to grow steadily. Cabbages come in various forms, varying in size, color, texture, and nutritional properties. An experiment was conducted to distinguish significant differences in relative water content (RWC of leaf and RWC of head), relative oxygen species (MDA and H2O2), and antioxidant properties (POD, APX, and CAT) between red and green cabbage varieties. Cabbage samples were grown under fertilizer and control conditions to observe the impact of fertilizers on the acquisition of these properties. The results indicated that fertilizer application positively influenced the acquisition of relative water content, relative oxygen species, and antioxidant properties in both cabbage varieties. The results emphasized that red cabbage excelled in antioxidants and ROS levels, containing higher amounts compared to green cabbage. Conversely, green cabbage showed greater relative water content in both cultivation conditions. These findings suggest that consumers seeking higher antioxidant and ROS levels in their diet may benefit from incorporating more red cabbage into their meals. Further research into the mechanisms behind differences in red and green cabbage could inform breeding programs, enhancing nutritional traits for agricultural and dietary purposes.Item Design and Manufacturing of a Low-Cost Synchronous Motor-Generator for Electrical Machine Laboratory(Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet, Bangladesh, 2011-01-11) Bhuyan, Muhibul Haque; Das, Debashish; Islam, RafiqulIn this work, we have developed a very low-cost synchronous machine that can be run as both a synchronous motor as well an alternator. When the machine runs as an alternator, an induction motor or a DC shunt motor is required as the prime mover. This has also been developed. The machine has four poles. Its stator voltage is 415 V (AC), stator current is 0.75 A, rotor voltage is 0 to 240 V (DC) and rotor current is 0.4 A. With this machine, at least eight experiments can be performed for undergraduate-level students. There are future expansion provisions in this machine. All the experimental results support theory. But general people can't understand the sign language so it becomes difficult for a speech impaired person to communicate with them. In this project an electronic speaking system was developed to ease the communication process of speech impaired people. A glove was developed which consists of five flex sensors. When a gesture is made with the glove, the change in resistance of flex sensors fed into the Arduino Nano and specific prerecorded audio command for that gesture is played from SD card through speaker and the text command for that gesture is displayed on the LCD. There are four gestures that are designed for user input so that user can play his/her chosen audio commands using those gestures. This device not only helps a speech impaired person to communicate with a normal person via audio commands but also helps him/her to communicate with a hearing impaired person by displaying the text commands on the LCD.Item Empirical Study On Isp Operation And Maintenance With Mikrotik(Daffodil International University, 2024-01-30) Islam, RafiqulThis study's primary goal is to clarify how to set up and maintain a network and bandwidth using the network management software Mikrotik. It can also be used for network security, PPPoE deployment, VPN and tunneling, network monitoring, and consultancy. Furthermore, it provides capabilities like firewalls, bridges, DNS, NAT, ARP, and a number of other features. An attempt is made in this paper to trace the growth and development of Islamic banking and to highlight its salient characteristics. This study explored the risk factors associated with anaemia and mapped the regional influences to understand the geographical inequalities. Methods Data from 180 respondents were prospectively collected from the Preeclampsia ward of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), Bangladesh. Anaemia was defined as a blood haemoglobin level less than 11.0 g/dl. Preeclampsia was defined as systolic blood pressure (SBP) ≥ 140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) ≥ 90 mmHg with proteinuria. Factors associated with anaemia were explored using the chi-square test. Logistic regression (LR) was done to determine the level of association with the risk factors. Results Among the participants, 28.9% were identified as having early onset and 71.1% reported late onset of PE. 38.9% of the subjects were non-anaemic, whereas mild, moderate, and severe anaemia was found among 38.3%, 17.8%, and 5% of patients respectively. The following factors were identified; including age range 25–34 (OR: 0.169, p < 0.05), a lower education level (OR: 3.106, p < 0.05), service-holder mothers (OR: 0.604, p < 0.05), pregnancy interval of less than 24 months (OR: 4.646, p < 0.05), and gestational diabetes mellitus (OR: 2.702, p < 0.05). Dhaka district (IR: 1.46), Narayanganj district (IR: 1.11), and Munshiganj district (IR: 0.96) had the highest incidence rates. Conclusion Determinants of anaemia must be considered with importance. In the future, periodic follow-ups of anaemia should be scheduled with a health care program and prevent maternal fatality and fetus morbidity in patients with PE."Item ‘Khoon’ in Bengali Literature(Kazi nazrul Islam and Abbasuddin Ahmed Research & Study Centre, Independent University, Bangladesh, 2014-05-01) Islam, RafiqulEver since Nazrul married Promila, a section of Hindu and Brahma poets and writers were up in arms against him and they became even more aggressive in the days of Bangladesh’s communal riots. Certain remarks of Rabindranath were quite instigative too. In his speech at a reception hosted by the Presidency College Rabindra Council, Rabindranath’s comment on the use of the word ‘khoori* [Urdu word for ‘blood’ commonly used by Muslim Bengalis] in Bengali literature created quite a misunderstanding. Various papers reported differently on Rabindranath’s comments made during that speech at Presidency College on the 13th of December 1927 [27th of Agrahayan 1334]. Quite sometime later a report appeared in the Falgun issue of Probashi, of “Chancellor Rabindranath’s speech delivered in reply to the reception hosted by the President of the Presidency College Rabindra Parishad, Professor Surendranath Dasgupta, as recorded by the students”. According to this report, at one point of the speech Rabindranath said: When there is paucity in creative powers, then some persons brag about innovation. They do not have the ability to serve the elixir of youth in old vessels. In order to prove their power, they search for something shocking rather than creative. The other day I saw in a certain Hindu Bengali poet’s poem, the use of the word ‘khoon rather than 'rakta' [the common Bengali word for blood]. If the old word ‘rakta' cannot convey the colour of blood in his poem appropriately, I would say that this is to his discredit. Since he cannot evoke feelings, he resorts to sensationalism. I will call those persons young, who do not have to order for ‘khoori* at New Market to usher in their dawn. In the paper Banglar Kotha, the poet’s comments on the use of the word ‘khoon were reported slightly differently. The Banglar Kotha report implied that the poet whose use of the word ‘khoori* to which Rabindranath took objection, was actually Nazrul Islam. And according to Sajanikanta Das’ account in Shanibarer Chithi, Rabindranath has said: The other day I saw that a certain Bengali poet had used the word ‘khoorf instead of lrakta\Probashi reported that he said ‘a Bengali Hindu poet’ and other papers quoted him as saying ‘a Bengali poet’. Naturally this raised Nazrul’s hackles. On the 22nd of May 1926 [beginning of the Bengali year 1333], Nazrul had written Kandari Hushiar and had even sung it for Rabindranath. R. M. Jalal UddinInfectious diseases cause great suffering all over the world like Japan, USA, India, China, Ghana, Bangladesh etc. every year. The cause of infectious diseases are mainly virus and bacteria, they are becoming resistant against existing drugs. Therefore, infectious diseases become great concern in public health. But the spread of infectious disease can be controlled by some preventive steps. To get the control strategy, we have to know the transmission dynamics of the viruses. Mathematical modeling plays a vital role in understanding the transmission dynamics of the virus. In order to find out the control strategy of the infectious diseases, several mathematical models are available in the literatures. SIR and SEIR are the most well-known models regarding the transmission dynamics of the infectious diseases. In this thesis we have applied mathematical model namely SEIR model to realize the dynamics of Influenza A (H1N1) virus and Nipah Virus. By analyzing sensitivity of their disease free equilibrium and endemic equilibrium we have got two controlling strategies –decrease of contact rate and/or increase of recovery rate. Moreover, we have got herd immunity threshold for them by basic reproduction number regarding data of Bangladesh. Our result suggests that vaccinating 15.31% population could be controlled spread out of Influenza A (H1N1) virus and keeping away 77.25% (susceptible) population from close contact with infected people could be controlled outbreak of Nipah virus in Bangladesh at their initial outbreak respectively. Using the above control strategy we have proposed vaccine induced SEIR model for Influenza A (H1N1) virus and controlled induced SEIR model for Nipah virus. For Influenza A (H1N1) virus, we considered 15.31% of the susceptible population will be vaccinated whereas for Nipah virus, 77.25% of the susceptible population will not be in close contact (by awareness) with infected population. Numerical solutions of the proposed vaccine induced SEIR model as well as control induced SEIR model regarding data of Bangladesh reveal the control of the outbreak of both diseases respectively.
