    Electricity has been the foundation of economic growth of a country, and constitutes one of the vital infra-structural inputs in socio- economic development. Bangladesh's energy infrastructure is quite small, insufficient and poorly managed. The per capita energy consumption in Bangladesh is one of the lowest (136 kWH) in the world. Bangladesh's installed electric generation capacity was 4.7 GW in 2009; three-fourth of which is considered to be available. 40% of the population has access to electricity with a per capita availability of 136 kWh per annum. The Ministry of Power and Energy has been mobilizing Tk 40,000 crore ($5.88 billion) to generate 5,000 MW of electricity to reduce load shading into a tolerable level within next four and half years during the term of the present government. By arranging carefully understand the role of power sector in Bangladesh the general electricity production, distribution and transmission system in the country must also be taken into account. All these have been rightfully done in this report. The purpose of this report is to establish a brief description of electricity production, distribution and transmission system in Bangladesh. By following the collected data from APSCL (Ashuganj Power Station Company Ltd), APSCL has 9 units with installed capacity of 777MW. But its present de rated capacity is 677MW. Ashuganj Power Station fulfills about 15% of power requirements of the country. Unit 1&2 produce 64 MW each. Unit 3, 4&5 produce 150 MW each, unit 6&7 produce 56 MW each and unit 8 produce 34 MW. This is all about the power generation of APSCL. Through our internship we have come to know how a power station runs and also know the practical field of power generation, distribution and transmission. On the completion of our internship we can relate theoritical knowledge with practical experience.

    Observation of Quality and Quantity of AC Water

    Today, a large portion of the world is experiencing water scarcity. The global demand for freshwater is increasing every day. The demand of fresh water is increasing day by day in big cities especially for Dhaka city where the groundwater table depletion rate is about 2 m to 3 m per year. As a result, other sources are being investigated in order to reduce demand. Water from air conditioners (AC) could be used. The water from air conditioner is usually wasted. The water from the air conditioner is good water and "clean," in general. We are first collecting water from air conditioning (morning, noon, night). Then we tested the water before and after boiling. On the acquired sample, various water quality parameter testing were performed. The average concentrations of before boil value pH 7.6, Iron 0, Conductivity 0,Turbidity 0.67, and DO 3.51, BOD 10, COD 36, and after boil value pH 7.73, Iron 0, Conductivity 0,Turbidity 0.80, and DO 2.66, BOD 8, COD 32, in condensate water from air conditioners were determined in this study. We compared the Air Conditioning water quality with WHO’s drinking water standard. Since they don't include any salts or residual solids. We can get extremely cheap clean drinking water with the right filter equipment. The goal of this research is to learn more about how condensate water from air conditioning systems can be reused. A sample of AC water was taken and its volume was calculated over time. Then we get the test value of parameters pH is acceptable but BOD, COD, Iron, Conductivity, Turbidity, and DO are not in acceptable limit.

    Phyttochemiicall and biiollogiicall Investtiigattiion off Leaff off Musa sapiienttum (Musaceae)

    Musa sapientum (leaf) belonging to the Musacaeae family has been investigated for the evaluation of biological activities of the crude extract with special emphasis to the antimicrobial activity, antioxidant activity, haemaggulitation and antihaemolytic activity. Musa sapientum leaf was also investigated with thin layer chromatography (TLC), sensitivity test and Preliminary phytochemical investigations. The antimicrobial assays of Musa sapientum leaf determine the zone of inhibition by disc diffusion method and minimum inhibtory concentration (MIC). The anioxidant activity include DPPH test, total phenolic assay, Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) radical scavenging assay, Reducing power activity test and total flavanoid assy . Musa sapientum leaf show good antimicrobial activity as the zone of inhibtion is alomst same as the standard. The antioxidant property of Musa sapientum leaf is moderate.
