Assessing and predicting the dynamics of land use/land cover in northern Bangladesh using cellular Automata-Markov chain model
(Scopus, 2024) Rahman, Md. Naimur; Saleheen, Md. Mushfiqus; Islam, Abu Reza Md Towfiqul; Sohel, Md Salman; Islam, Md. Sahidul
Rapid urbanization and land use changes significantly impact environmental sustainability and resource management, particularly in developing regions. Therefore, this study examines the spatiotemporal dynamics of land use and land cover (LULC) in Rangpur, Bangladesh, from 1991 to 2021 and projects future trends to 2041. Using supervised and unsupervised classification techniques, along with cellular automata and Markov-chain models, we assessed historical LULC changes and predicted future scenarios. Results show a 38.86% increase in built-up areas (BAs) and a 49.86% decrease invegetation land (VL) during the study period, with classification accuracy above 87%. Projections indicate a further loss of over 210 km² of VL and an increase of more than 123 km² in urban areas by 2041. Notably, urban expansion is linked to the development of road networks, with significant growth from 115.06 km2 in 2021 to 124.33 km2 by 2041 within a 15-kilometer radius around the city center. These findings offer crucial insights for urban planning, emphasizing the need for sustainable strategies to manage urban expansion and protect environmental and socio-economic resilience in Rangpur.

Design and Economic Analysis of Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant for Gafargaon Govt. College.
(Daffodil International University, 2021-01-24) Hossen, Md. Billal; Islam, Md. Sahidul
Solar power technology was present in Bangladesh from very long time. But due its high purchase cost only few were able to reap its benefits where coal based thermal power energy can not reached in Rural area. In previous years solar equipment was very costly and less efficiency but now a days due to the increase in efficiency of solar module and price drop of solar equipment. Govt. also takes a step to reach solar photovoltaic energy in rural area. In this paper, we carried out design, economic cost analysis of solar power plant for Gafargaon Govt. college, Mymensingh. This paper has two final result one is power plant design and another is its cost analysis. At first we find out the total energy demand for the college and that is 111.28 KWh. According to this energy demand we proposed PV power plan. We have used PV GIS software to calculation solar irradiation data and find out 4.78/day & solar energy production 344KWh/day. For proposed plant is required 556.2𝑚2 land area 124 modules, 40KW Inverter size. Total cost of the power plant is 11946810tk and per unit energy cost is 7.6tk with power plant life time warranty 25 years. It’s don’t need fossil fuels to generate solar energy as the result reduction in C𝑜2from the environment so, we choose solar energy for Govt. college as secondary energy source.

Effect of Lateral Loads on RCC Residential Building by Etabs According to BNBC 2017
(Daffodil International University, 2021-12-30) Swan, Md. Ashraful Hasan; Mahmud, Imroz; Islam, Md. Sahidul; Hossain, Tanzir
The lateral load effect on R.C.C. buildings has gotten a lot of attention for establishing specialized characteristics according to the BNBC 2017. ETABS is used to assess steel constructions, R.C.C Low and High Rise Residential Buildings, and other structures. The effects of lateral loads on R.C.C. residential buildings, particularly for L shapes, are explored. The influence of lateral loads on maximum storey displacement, maximum storey drift, and storey overturning moment is investigated. Following the structural analysis, these characteristics are compared with and without the effect of lateral loads. In this study, the maximum storey displacement increases as the number of storeys increases, with the exception of the stair roof, which increases due to lateral loads. However, without lateral load effects, maximum storey displacement does not rise linearly as storey increases. Maximum storey drift grows none linearly as storey increases in both scenarios, and maximum storey drift is found for the floor for the impacts of lateral stresses. Overturning moments rise non-linearly as the number of storeys increases, and the maximum moment is obtained for storey 2 in both cases.

Study on Different types of wash effect on denim garments
(Daffodil International University, 2018-11-20) Mahmud, Md. Sultan; Islam, Md. Sahidul
This thesis paper contains the all types of washing process and washing effect on denim garments of the industry. We have visited to ADTL collecting the related data for different type of washing process. After applying all those process, we have compared before and after wash effect. We completed to washing process, recipe and different type of wash effect .Finally we proposed to production system has been modeled and ensure the better productivity. In this paper, we discussed some procedure about different type of washing process, recipe and different type of washing effect and also discussed about analysis of different wash effect. After analysis of different wash effect, we completed comparisons on it. Finally we achieved result of different wash effect i. e. gray, blue, marbelish, cross hatch etc, shade, tone, handfeel, appearance and rejection percentage. For 70% cotton ,20%polyster ,8%ryon,2%spandex denim garments-30% handfeel increase, 20% slubs visible, rejection (4-5)% and For 99%cotton ,1%spandex denim garments- 40% slubs visible and rejection (3-4)%.
