Item Effect of Crop Establishment and Weed Control Method on Productivity of Transplanted aman Rice(Weed & Turfgrass Science, 2018) Ali, Mohammad; Bir, Md. Shahidul Haque; Rahman, Md. Habibur; Ayesha, Sultana Kaniz; Hoque, Aminul; Harun-Ar-Rashid, Md.; Islam, Md. Rashidul; Park, Kee WoongThis experiment was conducted to find the most suitable crop establishment method and weed management practices for transplanted aman rice in Bangladesh. Rice variety Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI) dhan44 was used as planting materials where three crop establishment methods (T1: direct wet seeding by drum seeder; T2: hand broadcasting; T3: transplanting) and four weeding options (W1: Hand weeding (HW); W2: BRRI weeder+HW; W3: Herbicide+HW; and W4: no weeding) were tested. Among the crop establishment methods, the highest grain yield (5.12 t ha-1) was obtained with the T3, while the highest benefit cost ratio (BCR) of 2.08 was found in T2. In case of the weed management method, W1 showed superior results on the plant density/m2 (139.66) at 60 days after transplanting (DAT), grain yield (4.97 t ha-1), and BCR (2.03). On the other hand, the highest plant dry matter (36.20 g) at 60 DAT and the highest yield (6.10 t ha-1) were obtained in a T3W1 combination. The results of this study show that the productivity of rice during aman season could be most significantly increased with the use of transplanting (T3) alone, hand weeding (W1) alone, or a combination of the two methods (T3W1).Item Effect of crop establishment method and N management practice on productivity of transplanted aman rice(Bioscience Research, 2018) Bir, Md. Shahidul Haque; Ali, Mohammad; Rahman, Md. Habibur; Ayesha, Sultana Kaniz; Hoque, Aminul; Rashid, Md. Harun-Ar; Islam, Md. Rashidul; Cho, Jin-Woong; Park, Kee WoongAn experiment was conducted at the Bangladesh Rice Research Institute Regional Station, Rajshahi, Bangladesh to find the most suitable crop establishment method and best application of N management practice for transplanted aman rice. The monsoon-season rainfed rice is aman, which is planted in two ways: direct seeding in March or April and transplantation between July and August. Both types are harvested from November through December. T. aman rice variety, BRRI dhan44 was used as planting material where three crop establishment methods (T1: direct wet seeding by drum seeder, T2: hand broadcasting and T3: transplanting) and four N management practices (N1: ⅓ at 15 DAT+ ⅓ at 30 DAT +⅓ at panicle initiation (PI), N2: ¼ at basal + ¼ at 15 DAT + ¼ at 30 DAT + ¼ at PI, N3: leaf color chart (LCC) based N application, N4: no nitrogen) were tested. Among crop establishment methods, the transplanting method (T3) produced the highest plant density m-2 (143.16) and yield (5.05 t ha–1 ). Among N management practices, N2 gave the greatest yield (4.97 t ha–1 ) and the highest benefit cost ratio (1.97). Treatment combination of T3N2 at 60 DAT produced the highest plant density m-2 (152.33). Therefore, from the current study, it can be concluded that the transplanting method (T3) and N split fertilization of ¼ at basal + ¼ at 15 DAT + ¼ at 30 DAT + ¼ at PI (N2), singly or together, would be the most productive application treatments during aman season.Item How Earning Per Share (EPS) affects on share price and firm value(© 2014 European Journal of Business and Management, 2014) Khan, Tahsan Rahman; Islam, Md. Rashidul; Choudhury, Tonmoy Toufic; Adnan, Ashique MahmoodEarnings per Share (EPS) is generally considered most important factor to determine share price and firm value. Literature shows that most of the individual investors take their individual investment decision based on the EPS. This paper attempts to provide empirical evidence on how EPS affect the share price movement. We have collected and analyzed 22 scheduled banks 110 firm year data and found that share price does not move as fast as the EPS move. We also further found that the share price movement depends on micro and macro economic factors on the economy. We suggest that investors must consider other factors as well as EPS in order to invest in the security market.Item Impact of short duration and high yielding aman rice varieties in Manga areas of Bangladesh(Journal by Innovative Scientific Information & Services Network, 2018) Bir, Md. Shahidul Haque; Islam, Md. Monjurul; Ali, Mohammad; Mazumder, Mohammad Nurun- Nabi; Nain, Julkar; Islam, Md. Shahidul; Islam, Md. Rashidul; OH, Taek-Keun; Park, Kee Woong„Manga‟, a near-famine situation which hits the northern region of Bangladesh every year, has forced poor people either to borrow money from usurers at an excessively high interest rate or to sell their labor in advance at an unusually low rate to keep their families from starvation. Many people sell their meager produce of aman crops well before harvesting to tide them over during the acute shortage of employment and food. The five districts of the northern region of Bangladesh that are most affected by manga are Kurigram, Gaibandha, Lalmonirhat, Nilphamari, and Rangpur. Other locations significantly affected are the areas cultivated with rice variety Binadhan-7, which is grown for its low crop duration of 110-120 days and for its average yield of 4.07 t/ha. These characteristics are similar to those of local rice varieties Sarna (4.29 t/ha) and BR-11 (4.29 t/ha). Early maturing rice varieties, which are harvested during aman, facilitate rabi crop cultivation (winter crops). These crops include potato, mustard, and wheat among others. The cultivation of early maturing varieties also allows for the engagement of farm laborers in harvesting and processing activities during the manga period of October and November.Item Study on Modular Lattice and Boolean Algebra(Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET), Khulna, Bangladesh., 2008-04) Islam, Md. Rashidul; Rahman, Prof. Dr. Md. BazlarThis thesis studies extensively the nature of modular lattices and Boolean algebras. The modular lattices have been study by several authors including Abbott [2] , Birkhoff [ 3] and Rutherford [19 ]. A poset is said to form a lattice if for every a, b ϵ L, a ˅ b and a ˄ b exists in L, where ˅ , , ˄ are two binary operation . A lattice L is called modular lattice ifforall a,b,c ϵ L with a ≥b, a, ˄ (b ˅ c) = [b ˅ (a ˄ c)]. In this thesis we give several results on modular lattices which certainly extend and generalized many result in lattice theory. In chapter one we discuss ideals , complete lattices , relatively complemented lattices and other results on lattices which are basic to this thesis . If every interval in a lattice is complemented the lattice is said to be relatively complemented. Chapter two discusses Embeddings, Kernels and dual homomorphisms. If L, M be two lattices, a one-one homomorphism θ : L→ M is called an embedding mapping . Also in that case we say L is embedded in M. We prove that the definition of dual meet homomorphism and dual join homomorphism are equivalent. In chapter three we discuss on modular lattices and distributive lattices Distributive lattices have been studied by sever author including Cignoli [ 4 ] , Cornish [ 5 ] , Cornish and Hicman [ 6 ] and Evans [ 7 ] Nieminen [15 ], [16] . Hence we prove a lattice L is distributive if and only if (a ˅ b) ˄ (b ˅ c) ˄ (c ˅ a)=(a ˄ b) ˅ (b ˄ c) ˅ (c ˄ a) ˅ a, b, c ϵ L In chapter four we discuss Boolean algebras and Boolean functions Previously Boolean algebras, Disjunctive Normal forms and Conjunctive Normal forms have studied by Abbott [ 1 ] . Here we extend several result on Boolean Algebras and also find the DN form of the function whose CN form is f =(x ˅ y ˅ z) ˄ (x ˅ y ˅ z') ˄ (x ˅ y' ˅ z) ˄ (x ˅ y' ˅ z') ˄ (x' ˅ y ˅ z).
