Item ASSESSSMENT OF SURFACE AND GROUNDWATER QUALITY IN KUSHTIA FOR AGRICUTURAL USES(HAJEE MOHAMMOD DANESH SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY UNIVERSITY, DINAJPUR, 2013-06) ISLAM, MD. RAKIBUL; Professor Dr. Bikash Chandra SarkerThe assessment of water quality in agriculture is essential for irrigating various crops. An investigation was conducted during January-March, 2013 to assess the ionic constituents of groundwater and surface water of the Kustia district in Bangladesh. Exactly 40 water samples were collected and analyzed for pH, EC, TDS, cations (Ca, Mg, Na, K, and P) and anions (HCO; and COQ3) of different locations in the Kustia district. The calcium content in different sources varied from 11.86 to trace amount. The highest amount was recorded in Padma river water while rain and dew water shoed no Ca content. Highest amount (10.52 mg L"') of Mg was found in Padma river water. Likewise Ca content, Mg was also nil in rain and dew water. The SO,-S content ranged from 0.521 mg L”' to trace) was found in the treatment of Canal water. The soluble P content ranged from 0.412 mg L”' to trace. The soluble K content varied from 0.324 mg L” to trace which is suitable for irrigated agriculture. The dissolved Na content was nil in rain and dew water but the 4.20 mg L’' was observed in pond water which is not problematic for irrigated agriculture. Maximum amount (3.226 mg L”) of carbonate and bicarbonate was found in the pond water while the trace amount of CO; & HCO3 was found in the rain and dew water. Maximum amount (2.34 pS cm’) of electrical conductivity was found in the pond water. The EC ranged from 3.24 to nil. The pH of the solution is very important in plant nutrition, and range pH beyond the limit can lead to problems. In the analysis of kustia district water the pH was slightly acidic to slightly alkaline ranging from 6.30 to 7.6. The concentration of TDS was found within the safe range for agricultural uses. The electrical conductivity was found suitable for irrigation uses.Item Design And Implementation Of Iot Based Monitoring And Controlling System For Electrical Load And Renewable Energy Source(Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, 2020-12) HASAN, MD. MEHEDI; ISLAM, MD. RAKIBULElectricity is an important ingredient for socioeconomic development of a society. In households electricity has an impact on living standard, health, education and so many. IoT is an automated computer system, an Internet-connected entity capable of storing and transmitting data without human interaction through the WIFI network. Bangladesh has energy shortage, but renewable energy, on the other hand has tremendous promise. To satisfy the rising demand for electricity, renewable energy could be a potential solution. Among several renewable sources we integrated foot step energy from piezoelectric sensor and solar energy conversion system to operate the electrical loads. Arduino Nano is used for programming purpose. IOT is implemented to monitor real time energy usage by electrical loads in kilowatt-hour (unit) rating and calculate the cost of consumed energy. By using IOT we can also control the whole system via a website. After the connection of all the components with Arduino Nano , the power is delivered to the Arduino and simultaneously the Wi-Fi module is powered. Then a connection is established between Wi-Fi module and access point through which can upload and access the sensor value over internet. The control taken through the user are send by Arduino Nano and uploaded over the cloud server, then from the cloud server the controller retrieves the data through Wi-Fi module and performs the required action, depending on the control signal provided by the user. Hardware based system has been developed and found the system works well. However, access to it has been difficult in our countries due to different reasons, cost being one of them. This project proposes a low-cost small electrical loads controlling and monitoring system using IoT that can benefit the user . This system have features that we can use for better control and monitor the electrical loads using sensor networks and communications, real time power consumption and pricing reduced operations and management cost , increased the efficiency by saving time and reducing power loss. This project will also expand the deployment of renewable energy sources.Item DISPOSAL OF POULTRY DROPPINGS AND THEIR IMPACT IN ENVIRONMENT POLLUTION INCHITTAGONG DISTRICT(Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Khulshi, Chattogram-4225, Bangladesh, 2011-01) ISLAM, MD. RAKIBULThe present study was conducted to evaluate the droppings disposal system in poultry farm and measures adapted to protect environment pollution. Data were collected randomly from 20 selected poultry farmers of Chittagong district using questionnaire. The independent variables such as age, educational qualification, training status of the farmers, farm size and dependent variables such as flock size, droppings production, disposal system of droppings etc. were studied. In this study, the highest percentages (65%) of the farms were broiler type and most of the flocks (50%) were in medium sized (1000 to 2000 bird). Majority of the farmers (50%) were in middle aged (30 to 40 years) and 15% farmers were in old age (> 40 years), most of them (65%) have no training about poultry farming. Highest amount (>200 kg/day) of droppings was produced by 20% farms and lowest amount (<100 kg/day) was produced by 45% farms. Frequency of droppings collection after 1-2 days, 3 days interval , weekly and after the batch were 25%, 35%, 20%, 20% farms respectively.. Majority of the farmers claimed that droppings of poultry to be a real problem for odour and ammonia gas emission. Majority of the farmers (75%) disposed poultry waste in a selected pit and others (25%) thrown beside the road. 50% of the farmers sale droppings and rest them considered as useless. Highest percentage (40%) of crop farmers used poultry droppings as fertilizer and lowest (20%) as fish feed. Majority of farmers disposed dead bird in selected pit and which is outside the farm. Dropping disposal is really a great problem for aesthetic, public environmental point and public health significance. Standard method need to be established for efficient and cost effective disposal system in poultry farm.Item Measuring the frequency of different gastrointestinal diseases of goats along with therapeutic application of the drugs with their clinical efficacy in Sadar Upazilla, Comilla, Bangladesh.(Chattogram Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, KHULSHI, CHITTAGONG-4225., 2011-02) ISLAM, MD. RAKIBULThe study was conducted at UVH (Upazilla Veterinary Hospital), Sadar, Comilla, for a period of 2 months (July to August, 2010) to investigate the frequency of different diseases and disease conditions of the gastrointestinal systems of goats and also to identify the drugs used. The required information was collected through owner’s interview and close observation of the cases. On an average; Black Bengal goats (67.46%) were mostly suffered from the gastrointestinal cases than the Jamnapari (32.54%). The rate of occurrence of the gastrointestinal cases was more in male goats (53.96%) than the female goats (46.04%). In relation to the age susceptibility of the cases, it was observed that the occurrence of the goats below 6 months (50.79%) suffered more than the goats above 6 months (49.32%) from GI problems. Most of the problems with gastrointestinal system were treated with the oral dosing of different gut active sulphonamides and other preparation including anthelmintics for the related parasitic infestation. Recovery rate for enteritis, anorexia, indigestion, bloat, fascioliasis, GI nematodiasis and tapeworm infestation were 88%, 79%, 83%, 81%, 67%, 81% and 75% respectively.Item OPTIMIZATION OF PROCESS PARAMETERS DURING PULSED MICROWAVE OSMOTIC DEHYDRATION (PMOD) OF BANANA SLICES BY RESPONSE SURFACE METHODOLOGY(HAJEE MOHAMMAD DANESH SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY UNIVERSITY, DINAJPUR., 2016-12) ISLAM, MD. RAKIBUL; Md. Raihanul HaqueThe pulsed microwave osmotic dehydration (PMOD) of banana slices was carried out by immersing in sucrose solution. The experiments were conducted using a face-centered central composite design (FCCD) with four factors, viz. slice thickness (5-10 mm), sucrose concentration (40-60oBrix), microwave power (100-1000W), and time (10-50 min) at three levels to take into account the individual and interaction effects of the factors. The sample to solution ratio of 1:30 was kept constant throughout all of the experiments to minimize the cost of processing. Optimization of the process parameters for osmotic dehydration of banana slices was also obtained by response surface methodology. Multiple regression analysis showed that all process factors highly affect linearly on the water loss (WL), solid gain (SG), drying efficiency (DE), and color change (ΔE). Microwave power was found as the most significant factor during pulsed microwave osmotic dehydration (PMOD) of banana slices except for water loss (WL) in which osmosis time was found as the most influential factor (p<0.01). The optimum operating conditions were found to be slice thickness of 9.94 mm, sucrose concentration of 60oBrix, microwave power level of 100W, and time of osmosis of 50 min. Under this operating condition WL, SG and color change were 19.49 % (wb), 6.96% (wb) and 15.06, respectively. The predicted optimum values for independent variables were validated by performing several experiments and the simulated data were found in closeness to the experimental ones.Item PREVALANCE OF BROWN ROT OF POTATO IN SOME SELECTED LOCATION OF BANGLADESH AND IN-VITRO MANAGEMENT OF RALSTONIA SOLANACEARUM(DEPARTMENT OF PLANT PATHOLOGY , SHER-E-BANGLA AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY, DHAKA, 2015-06) ISLAM, MD. RAKIBULAn experiment was conducted in the Disease Diagnostic Laboratory of Department of Plant Pathology, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka during the period of 2014- 2015 to observe the prevalence of brown rot disease in stored potato tuber collected from different locations of Bangladesh and to find out suitable antibacterial chemicals and antagonists against Ralstonia solanacearum, the causal organism of brown rot of potato. Potato samples were collected from eight potato growing region viz. Munshigong, Rangpur, Lalmonirhat, Joypurhat, Pabna, Bogra, Manikgonj and Panchagarh. The highest disease incidence (40 %) was observed in potato tuber collected from Munshigong at six month storage period and the lowest incidence (3.33%) was found in potato tuber collected from Panchagarh at two month storage period. Disease incidence varied significantly from location to location and storage period. The causal organism of brown rot of potato was identified as Ralstonia solanacearum on the basis of morphological, biochemical and cultural characteristics. The bacterium was gram negative, rod shaped and showed positive results in KOH solubility test, catalase test, starch hydrolysis test, levan production test, pecteolytic test, gelatin liquefaction test and negative result on oxidase test. It produced highly fluidal, slightly raised and creamy white colonies with light pink or pinkish red centre and irregular margin after 48 hrs of incubation at 30 0C on TTC medium. Four agrochemicals viz. Kasumin, Bactrol, Copperoxichloride and copper+mancozeb and two bioagents such as Bacillus subtilis based formulation (PRH) and Trichoderma harzianum were tested against Ralstonia solanacearum in the laboratory. Among them the highest inhibition zone (14.44 mm) was recorded when Kasumin used against Ralstonia solanacearum wheres Bactrol, Bacillus subtilis, Trichoderma harzianum and Copperoxychloride showed moderate inhibition zone. However, copper+mancozeb did not show any effect against Ralstonia solanacearum.
