The "Home Automation" idea has existed for a long time to give us comfort. The terms “Home Security” present the idea of giving security in the main entrance door by image processing. We can create data set for every known person and also can train this data for image processing. Whenever a known person will come, then the system opens the door and if any unknown person will come, then the door will not open and notify the owner by mail. Owner of the home can live stream and observe the system and can operate the door manually. A web interface is for live streaming. By this web interface, user can open and close door remotely from any place. A user can maintain entry record by taking snapshots. An IP address is for entering to the web interface. To develop the system essential components are single chip computer (Raspberry Pi3) with a camera module, monitor and others minor components. Nowadays Home automation and Home security system are becoming a popular system because of its attractive feature and effective performance.Item High-Fidelity Reconstruction of 3D Temperature Fields Using Attention-Augmented CNN Autoencoders With Optimized Latent Space(2024-12-29) Fokrul Islam Khan, Md; Hossain, Zakir; Hossen, Arif; Ul Alam, Md Nuho; Muhammad Masum, Abdul Kadar; Zia Uddin, MdUnderstanding and accurately predicting complex three-dimensional (3D) temperature distributions are critical in diverse domains, including climate science and industrial process optimization. This study presents a sophisticated framework employing a convolutional neural network (CNN)-based autoencoder (AE) architecture augmented with attention mechanisms for the efficient compression and reconstruction of 3D temperature distribution datasets. The framework integrates Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) analysis to ascertain the optimal latent space dimensionality, thereby ensuring a judicious balance between model complexity and reconstruction fidelity. Moreover, the autoencoder is trained by utilizing a customized loss function designed to prioritize higher temperature values, enhancing the reconstruction accuracy in critical regions, mathematically defined as regions where the temperature exceeds 675°C (i.e., T > 675°C). This ensures enhanced reconstruction accuracy in areas of significant thermal importance, which are critical for the accuracy of the model. Through systematic exploration of the latent space dimensionality and the relative weighting of non-zero temperature data points, optimal parameters are identified that maximize the coefficient of determination score. Empirical results indicate that optimal performance is achieved with a latent space size of six, incorporating a relative weight value of 4.5 for non-zero temperature data points and appropriate handling of zero-temperature data points. After evaluating the model for both zero and non-zero temperature data, the R2 scores improved from 95.80% to 99.27%, demonstrating a significant enhancement in overall accuracy. This proposed methodology provides profound insights into the intrinsic structure of the data and offers highly accurate predictions for applications necessitating detailed spatial and temporal temperature analyses.Item Performance Analysis of Alcohols Sensing with Optical Sensor Procedure Using Circular Photonic Crystal Fiber (C-Pcf) in the Terahertz Regime(Daffodil International University, 2021-12-17) Hossain, Md. Navid Hasan; Abdullah-Al-Shafi, Md.; Sen, Shuvo; Azad, Mir MohammadIn this study, a TOPAS-based optical sensor for detecting alcohols in drinks and liquids, made of circular air holes (CAH) in the cladding and a hexahedron core is suggested here. In addition, COMSOL Multiphysics program for development and analysis of the sensing qualities of a PCF-based sensor using finite element technical as a solution. In the THz frequency band, the described C-PCF structure has an exceptionally high relative sensitivity of 86.60%, 88.70%, and 84.71%, and low confinement losses (CLs) are 5.75 × 10−08, 6.11 × 10−08 dB/m and 5.70 × 10−08 dB/m for three alcohols such as Ethanol (n = 1.354), Butanol (n = 1.399), and Propanol (n = 1.387), respectively at monitoring region of 1 THz. Alcohol is widely used in both the food and beverage sectors and chemical operations. The detection methods of alcohol thus must be accurate, accurate, and reliable. This content modeling and analysis in the terahertz frequency range is a novel TOPAS-based photonic crystal fiber (C-PCF). Moreover, the total power fraction and effective area are also determined in the terahertz frequency range. Due to its excellent waveguiding characteristics, this suggested sensor has the potential to be employed in alcohols detection as well as polarization preserving terahertz wave applications.Item Prevalence and Predictors of Cognitive Impairment Among the Elderly in Bangladesh(Springer Nature, 2023-05-05) Hossain, Zakir; Das, Jiban Kanai; Fahim, Nahian Fyrose; Ali, Hasan; Khondoker, MizanurAim To investigate the prevalence of cognitive impairment and its predictors among the elderly in Bangladesh. Subject and Methods We use a cross-sectional survey of 1015 older people (≥60 years) in Bangladesh collected jointly by the Sir William Beveridge Foundation (SWBF) and Aging Support Forum (ASF), Bangladesh. The Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) scale, adapted to the Bengali language, was used for assessing cognitive impairment, which was available for 111 participants. Logistic regression analysis was used to identify predictors of cognitive impairment. Multiple imputation under the missing-at-random (MAR) mechanism was used to deal with missing data. Results Overall, 31 out of 111 (27.9%) participants had mild, moderate or severe cognitive impairment, with a higher proportion among women (33.3%, 17 out of 51) than men (23.3%, 14 out of 60). More precisely, 24 out of 111 (21.6%) and 7 out of 111 (6.3%) had mild/moderate and severe cognitive impairment, respectively, with a higher percentage among women (mild/moderate: 25.5%, severe: 7.8%) than men (mild/moderate: 18.3%, severe: 5.0%). Age (odds ratio, OR = 1.06, p = 0.046, 95% CI: 1.001 to 1.119) and social engagement (OR = 0.25, p = 0.033, 95% CI: 0.072 to 0.898) were found to be statistically significant predictors of cognitive impairment in this group of people. The effect of physical disability fell short of statistical significance at the 5% level but was significant at the 10% level (OR = 2.89, p = 0.099, 90% CI: 0.999 to 8.370). Conclusion The prevalence of cognitive impairment in Bangladesh is alarming and is comparatively higher among elderly women, which seems to increase with age and the presence of any physical disability. ZohurulGlass is a hard, brittle substance, typically transparent or translucent, made by fusing sand with soda and lime and cooling rapidly. It is used to make windows, drinking containers, and other articles. Container glass is a type of glass used for storing various liquid and solid materials such as bottles, jars, drinkware, and bowls. Container glass has a lower magnesium oxide and sodium oxide content than flat glass, and higher silica, calcium oxide, and aluminium oxide content. Its higher content of water insoluble oxides imparts slightly higher chemical durability against water, which is required for storage of beverages and food. Most container glass is soda-lime glass, produced by blowing and pressing techniques, while some laboratory glassware is made from borosilicate glass. Glass Container is a very widely used component, its applications ranging from small vial to large Jar. In spite of its versatility in application, Glass is a significantly underused in the Bangladesh market. There are so many different types of glass containers and jars, and their properties differ with the type of processing it undergoes. Glass is also an eco- friendly product and clocks a signification contribution towards the protection of the environment. Using glass container has so many advantages, but glass has been continuously overlooked for cheaper alternatives non-renewable products like PET or Plastic products. My study aims to explore the reasons for this situation and determine how and to what extent the Bangladeshi market would be benefitted by a more visible glass industry. It seeks to inform the reader about the advantages of glass containers (stressfully, environmental) in comparison to other packaging materials like plastic, PET etc., so as to aid in future decision making processes. This survey reveals that Glass Container has significant positive impact on quality of the product and sustainability of the environment. For the quality of the products, survey observes that ‘to maintain the quality of the product inside the packaging, glass container has contributed the highest assurance compare to any other kind of packaging’. Glass container is 100% recyclable and thus environment friendly and it is sustainable. The survey also revealed that about 60-65% people do not have proper knowledge on the impact of product quality due to the packaging of the foods and beverage.Item Risk Assessment of Naturally Occurring Radioactivity in Soil Adjacent to a Coal-Fired Brick Kiln(Elsevier, 2023-08-15) Siraz, M.M. Bazlar; Hossain, Zakir; Khandaker, Mayeen Uddin; Bradley, D.A.; Miah, M.M.H.; Alshahrani, B.; Yeasmin, S.Being aware of the potential health effects brought on by exposure to radionuclides, besides chemical and air pollution, produced by coal-fired brick kilns, first-ever measurements of terrestrial radionuclides were performed in the topsoil sampled from the surrounding of a randomly chosen coal-fired brick kiln operating at the outskirts of megacity Dhaka, Bangladesh. By employing the HPGe gamma-ray spectroscopy, the activity concentrations of 226Ra, 232Th, and 4 K was found to be in the range of (19.2 ± 2.7–54 ± 7.0) Bq/kg, (33 ± 5.3–68 ± 9.5) Bq/kg, and (360 ± 43–540 ± 65) Bq/kg respectively, where almost all the values of 40 K, 232Th; and some of the values of 226Ra exceeded the corresponding world average values. Possible causes of the elevated level of radionuclides include the deposition of bottom ash in lowlands, the accumulation of fly ash in soils, and the fallout of fine particles that absorb the minerals released from the coal burning process. 137Cs was also found in two samples that might indicate contamination of the feed coal. Most of the outdoor absorbed dose rates, some internal absorbed dose rates, annual effective dose, gamma level index and excess lifetime cancer risk surpass the worldwide average. According to these hazard parameters, there are health risks to the brick kiln workers and the populace who consumes food crops produced in the studied agricultural soils. The present quantitative measurements urge the municipal authorities to manage and monitor the discharge of fly ash from the brick kilns and take precautionary actions to reduce unwanted health hazards. It also demands to monitor of the human health of workers and residents near the brick kilns.
