Early detection, segmentation and quantification of coronary artery blockage using efficient image processing technique
(BRAC University, 2017) Shakir, Mohsinul Bari; Hossain, Mohammad Amzad; Shams, Khan Mohammad Aymaan; Akib, Faisal Raihan; Alam, Dr. Md. Ashraful
Advancements in computing speed and power have made revolutionary changes in medical science practices and this is no different for cardiology. Such advancements in computer sciences have made the existing medical tests of heart into being. These tests are: ECG, CTA, & Echocardiogram. CTA (Computed Tomography Angiography) is a widely used imaging technique to visualize arterial and venous vessels throughout the body. In clinical practice, the analysis mainly relies on visual inspection or manual measurements by experienced cardiologists. The proposed method aims towards a full automation of the detection of coronary artery blockage through some image processing techniques so that the system does not have to rely on any human’s inspection. The goal of the research is to implement the proposed image processing techniques so that the system can detect the narrowing area of the wall of coronary arteries due to the condensation of different artery blocking agents. This detection is crucial for further analysis of the heart. The research suggests that the system will require a 64-slice CTA image as input. After the acquisition of the desired input image, it will go through several steps to determine the region of interest. This research proposes a two stage approach that includes the pre-processing stage and decision stage. The pre-processing stage involves common image processing strategies while the decision stage involves the extraction and calculation of two feature ratios to finally determine the intended result. In order to get more insights of the subject of these examinations, this research has proposed the use of an algorithm to create a 3-D model. Moreover, the system to work more precisely and effectively, use of several techniques have been suggested including parallel processing with shared memory allocation between the CPU and the GPU. Using the parallel processing technique not only makes the whole process at least 7 times faster, but also helps several stages of the process work more effectively.

Fundamental Analysis of DSE Listed Islamic Banks in Bangladesh
(Daffodil International University, 2022-06-30) Rahman, Sardar Mohammad Masudur; Hossain, Mohammad Amzad; Rupa, Rasheda Akter; Bipa, Rubaida Adnina
Fundamental Analysis provides more pertinent information regarding the profitability and growth of the firm which assists the investors to make informative investment decisions. The aim of this study is to conduct fundamental analysis of some DSE-listed Islamic banks in Bangladesh and to find out the significant differences among selected variables. EPS, P/E Ratio, P/B Ratio, ROE, Dividend Yield, and Dividend Payout Ratio are the chosen variables to conduct fundamental analysis. Secondary data from the annual reports of the selected Islamic Banks in Bangladesh from 2013 to 2020 have been used. Collected data have been analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics such as Mean, Standard Deviation, and ANOVA analysis. The outcome of the study reveals that Al-Arafah Islami Bank has better ROE followed by Shajalal Islami Bank and EXIM Bank. Al-Arafah Islami Bank has the highest average dividend yield and dividend payout ratio followed by EXIM Bank, First Security Islami bank. Shajalal Islami Bank holds the highest average P/B ratio followed by Al-Arafah Islami Bank. Islami bank has the highest average EPS of 2.92. Lastly, Shajalal Islami Bank has the highest average P/E ratio. The study also reveals that there are the momentous differences among selected variables. This study will help the investors to adopt the relevant investment decisions and the selected Islamic Banks management will be able to improve their performance through adopting the suggested recommendations.

OVARIAN STATUS AND FECUNDITY OF SPOTTED SNAKEHEAD (Channa punctatus) IN NATURAL WATERS OF SYLHET
(Department of Fish Biology and Genetics, 2013-12) Hossain, Mohammad Amzad
A series of experiments were conducted to study the ovarian development and fecundity of spotted snakehead, Channa punctatus. The fishes were collected on regular basis for each month from the rivers, beels, and haors of the greater Sylhet region, from July 2012 to June 2013. Length weight relationship, hepato-somatic index, gonado-somatic index and fecundity of female fish, sex ratio were estimated. Gonadal histology was initiated for better assessment of maturation status and spawning periodicity. During the study period, the highest GSI value for ovary was recorded as 5.64±1.23 in July and lowest GSI value was recorded as 0.19±0.05 in January. Besides this the highest HSI value was recorded as 1.64±0.45 in January and the lowest 0.84± 0.04 in July. The GSI value is found to be inversely related with the HSI during the month of June- August, which indicates exhaustion of energy at ovary in form of vitellogenin. The highest fecundity of 26294±416.74 was recorded in July, with an average value of 10353.7±797.615. Large fishes tend to have great number of fecundity compared to smaller fishes as there is strong correlation between fecundity and body weight as r = 0.771. The relationship between fecundity and ovary weight results in correlation coefficient of 0.834. Length weight is found to be strongly correlated with r 2 value of 0.912. Oocytes had been studied on monthly basis to get the information on the development of oocyte. The different stages of oocytes development were examined microscopically. Early and developing stages of oocytes were mostly observed during March-May, maturing oocytes in June-July, and mature oocytes during July-August using H-E staining. During month of August – October some spent gonads appeared. Presence of mature oocytes in ovary samples during July-August indicated mature phase of oocytes ready to spawn. The histological study of ovary throughout the year summarizes that C. punctatus breeds during monsoon (June-August) oocytes are asynchronous in nature. 2
