(BRAC University, 2021-09) Rahat, Abrarul Hassan; Joti, Tassnim Jaman; Akter, Tania; Tasnin, Humayra; Rumon, Mamunur Rashid; Hossain, Md. Iqbal; Shakil, Md. Arif
Blockchain, the decentralized architecture and distributed public ledger technology that enables Bitcoin, has recently drawn a strong interest from governments, nancial institutions, and high-tech companies. In modern technological era, blockchain is intended to provide a secure, irreversible, and transparent information management platform for practically any application, and it also plays a vital role in establishing the future of cities. A major number of today's well-known crypto-stages are based on the Blockchain concept. In today's digital era, Identi cation of an individual is one of the most important concerns for businesses and many other public institutions. Digital identity has started playing a vital role in this sector as the data may be used to identify an individual and his fundamental qualities like name, address, health status, credit score and others. In this paper, we will look at how Blockchain can be used to secure digital identities. Digital identity is a trustworthy idea that describes how people can use or what type of attribute or parameter can be used to identify someone's identity, as well as the various privacy concepts or concerns that are related with someone's identity. The identity is used for di erent kind of application which is typically decentralized and any organization can take control over the identity data which reasons a large number of identity fraud as well. The idea is to build a model for single multipurpose identity, which will be secured using blockchain technology. Instead of several identi cation documents, users can use this single multipurpose identity to prove their identity in various sectors such as the government and other private sectors to access particular services. An automated and real time veri cation of identity through smart contracts can verify the identity data. The blockchain will provide a tamper-proof method of storing documents or data that can be audited by the government. User will have control over which of their credential the service provider can access. Our model will also ensure that the user can see how his identity data was accessed by multiple vendors as whenever someone tries to access someone's identity and the user will be able to see how his identity data was used by looking into it as an individual.

Detecting Tomato Leaf Diseases by Image Processing Through Deep Convolutional Neural Networks
(Elsevier, 2023-08-22) Hossain, Md. Iqbal; Jahan, Sohely; Asif, Md. Rashid Al; Samsuddoha, Md.; Ahmed, Kawsar
Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) have already brought unprecedented success in the detection of various diseases of plant leaves, fruits, buds, flowers, etc. Besides, computer science and related field researchers are widely trying to use specific ML and DL methods to classify images and get better results in the field of agriculture and technology. Considering these, Deep Convolutional Neural Networks (DCNN) have been applied in this research. We first applied the Gaussian filter and the Median filter separately on the main dataset and saved the filtered images into two separate directories. We then applied two color models (HSI and CMYK) separately to the images in each directory. Thus, we pre-processed the images in four different ways with the main objective of finding the best combination of the filtering methods and the color models. We then applied our selected DCNN models to each output obtained from the pre-processing steps and finally chose the best methodology based on the accuracy. At last, we have found the highest accuracies (98.27% in Vgg-19, 94.98% in MobileNet-V2, and 99.53% in the ResNet-50) by using the Gaussian Blur and the Gaussian Noise filters with the RGB to CMYK color conversion method.

Genome sequence analysis of bos frontalis and genome wide association study (GWAS) between near species
(BRAC University, 2021-06) Islam, Sara; Parvin, Rumana; Afrin, Most. Sanjida; Babu, Liakot Khan; Sarkar, Oindri Aurunima; Hossain, Md. Iqbal; Siddiki, AMAM Zonaed
The Gayal is an enormous estimated imperiled bovine species having a place with the Bovidae family, Bovini tribe , Bovina group, Bos family , and Bos frontalis species. It is a semi-domestic animal, kept in gated forest regions rather than in or near villages. It is also known as the mithan or mithun. With 2n=58 XX chromosome complements and bred in India, Myanmar, China, Bangladesh, and Bhutan’s hill forests at an elevation of 1000 to 3000 meters above sea level. The most common animal utilized by Eastern Himalayan groups is the mithun or Gayal (Bos frontalis). In Bangladesh, the home plot of Gayal has been found in the Bandarban Slope area. In Bangladesh, the complete number of Gayal was assessed to be between 800-900, with a normal of 5.01 Gayal per rancher. Be that as it may, the beginning of this species is as yet questioned and data on its genomic design is inadequate up until now. Gayal’s meat is quite possibly the most favored wellsprings of creature protein among nearby clans and its milk is nutritious.Mithuns are mostly introduced outside of North East India with the intention of cross-breeding with other bovids. By breeding Gayal with different types of cattle we can have hybrids which will be able to produce good quality meat as well as milk. Bangladesh had high reproductive efficiency, with a calving interval of 402 days. As a result, Gayal’s reproductive efficiency and rapid growth in the home tract suggest that Bos frontalis can be commercially exploited provided a solid breeding plan and competent extension service are implemented. Gayal’s genome resequencing will reveal important details on genomic organization, evolutionary divergence, conservation, and total endemic diversity. We will use Genome-wide association studies on Bos frontalis and the purpose of our work is identifying some genes-proteins with economic importance and compare them with related species.

Impact of Initial Public Offerings on Capital Market Development of Bangladesh
(© University of Dhaka, 2025-07-08) Hossain, Md. Iqbal
This thesis conducts a comprehensive analysis of the impacts of Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) on the development of the capital market in Bangladesh, which is recognized as one of the fastest-growing economies in South Asia. In this context, the increasing capital needs of entrepreneurs are primarily met by state-owned and private commercial banks, as well as non banking financial institutions, due to the underdeveloped nature of the stock market. Bank financing is influenced by monetary policies, particularly the bank rates set annually by the central bank. While some studies highlight the necessity of strengthening the debt and equity securities market to support Bangladesh's rapid economic growth, there are ongoing debates about the extent to which the capital market contributes to the development process by providing alternative financing sources for entrepreneurs through public and private offerings. To bridge this understanding gap, I examine the impacts of Initial Public Offerings on the development of Bangladesh's capital market through a meticulous examination of primary and secondary data sources, including closed-end questionnaire, IPO Prospectus and regulatory documents from different stakeholders of the capital market i.e., Ministry of Finance, BSEC, BB, DSE, CSE, published articles, daily newspapers etc. and use annual data from 1994 to 2023. Employing multiple regression analysis, I find that IPO financing, unemployment rate, foreign portfolio trade, and DSE Broad Index significantly and positively influence the Market Capitalization to GDP ratio of the capital market of Bangladesh. Notably, foreign portfolio trade exerts the largest effect on the Market Capitalization to GDP ratio, followed by IPO financing, unemployment rate and DSE Broad Index. The findings underscore the need to encourage more quality IPO issuances by addressing the barriers that deter large companies, including multinational corporations and state-owned entities, from pursuing public financing. Additionally, increasing the size of issuances and ensuring the proper utilization of IPO proceeds are essential steps to further develop the capital market of Bangladesh.

Implementation of Three Phase AC Synchronous Motor Drive by Using Voltage Source Converter
(IIUC Central Library, 2020-08-12) Rahman, Md. Abdur; Hossain, Md. Iqbal; Karim, Md. Rejaul
The aim of the project is to develop a voltage source converter whose input is single phase variable frequency AC supply but the output is three phase fixed frequency AC. For this we first rectified the AC voltage using bridge rectifier. Then the rectified DC voltage is across the two terminals of DC link capacitor. Dc link capacitor reduces the ripple and distortion from the DC voltage. This capacitor is also called a bypassing capacitor, it is not only used to short the ripple with frequency to ground but also to leave the frequency of the DC to appear at the ground. Then, this DC supply is fed to the inverter and converts DC to AC power supply. It consists of MOSFET (IRFBC40G) and gate drive is given by microcontroller (PIC16F72) through driver circuit. Microcontroller (PIC16F819) is also used for frequently changing switching sequence. Microcontroller PIC16F72 is used in our proposed model. It is connected to power supply to operate it and programmed to provide a gate pulse to MOSFETs which are used in inverter circuit. It provides a gate pulse of 120° and at a time two MOSFET conducts in three phase inverter circuit. We have tried to run a three phase synchronous AC motor with 9 steps. It is seen that the motor runs correctly without any trouble.

(BRAC University, 9/28/2022) Meraj, Afsarul Islam; Samindra, Sadia Ferdous; Chhoan, Tasnim Fuyara; Kashpia, Afsana Sharmily; Ahmed, Tawhid; Hossain, Md. Iqbal; Shakil,Md. Arif
The rapid diffusion of the internet coupled with the vision of ”Digital Bangladesh” has given rise to e-government services to improve the capability, accountability, and accessibility of different e-government services like E-banking, online Election Commission service, E-passport service etc. In this digital age, e-government services are quickly becoming one of the most efficient and vital practices in Bangladesh, allowing governments to communicate with businesses, people, employees, and even other government organizations. But besides these tremendous opportunities, e-services also have to face some serious security challenges, as the main factors of e-service practice and security are different from traditional government services because of the online environment. The government has to face more security threats in online services. According to a January 2018 estimate, there are roughly 17.61 lakh internet banking customers, with the majority of individuals using internet banking for fraudulent transfer operations. According to a Bangladesh Bank data report from January 2018, around 7.18 lakh transactions, totaling 2175 crore taka, were conducted over the internet banking network. Besides E-banking, E-passport and online NID services are widely used by users throughout the country. Furthermore, throughout the last two decades, security concerns in the E-service arena have received increased attention. So, we should be concerned about the security issues surrounding these services so that citizens can use online services more efficiently with the highest security possible. So, our work will be focused on the most important and sensitive E-government service, the online NID service, to find all the possible security failings or weaknesses of this service initially. After that, we will work to establish a Plug-and-Play (PnP) model to secure our systems. This model hopefully captures the E-service technology security issues in Bangladesh and the proactive measures to reduce and uproot or reduce all those security threats.
