    While migrating from Monolith to Microservices architectural style, it is often confusing to define service boundaries. This paper describes a probabilistic technique to define the services on a Monolithic system considering three major aspects - update rate, scaling rate, and technology diversity necessary to realize each service properly. To do so, we have used the weighted matrix and Multidimensional Scaling (MDS). This technique helps to define an optimal number of services for implementing the system in the Microservices Architecture. This paper will be useful for organizations trying to migrate from Monolithic System to Microservices.

    A Study on Zn/Cu-Based Pandan Leaf (Pandanus Amaryllifolius) Electrochemical Cell

    At present, there is a dire need of electricity around the world. There are a lot of remote areas where grid electricity is absent. So that some innovations are needed there for electricity production. The nonrenewable energy sources are limited. But we have a plenty of renewable energy sources. Although renewable energy sources are more safer for use in human life and the environmental pollutions. After finishing the renewable energy sources, people can use sun and plants for electricity generation. In our research paper, an idea has been taken for electricity production from pandan leaves because plants and leaves grow everywhere. The current and voltage have been generated from the pandan leaves which have been further used to light the LED lamp. Lighting the LED bulb proved that the idea was successful for electricity generation from pandan leaf. It is not limited to LED bulb; further, this idea will be used for other electric appliances. Pandan leaf (PL) has been used for getting electricity. The scientific name of the pandan leaf is Pandanus amaryllifolius. The pandan leaf extract has been used for electricity production. A comparative study has been done for both with and without secondary salt. CuSO4 has been used as a secondary salt. It has been studied the several parameters like open circuit voltage, load voltage, short circuit current, load current, maximum power, load power, and internal resistance. These parameters have been developed for both with and without secondary salt. It is shown that the performance for with secondary salt is better than the without secondary salt. The internal resistance was less for using the secondary salt. After doing this research work, it can be concluded that result is positive for electricity generation from pandan leaf.

    Advancements in Radar Technology for Enhanced Adaptive Cruise Control Systems

    In an interconnected world, radar technology plays a crucial role in enhancing vehicle safety through Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), a system designed to maintain optimal speed and spacing between vehicles. This paper explores the integration of Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar with Constant False Alarm Rate (CFAR) clutter rejection to improve detection reliability in adverse weather conditions, specifically rain. The study involves a detailed simulation of an ACC scenario with multiple targets up to 200 meters away and moving targets as slow as 0.0083 meters per second, focusing on the impact of rain clutter on radar performance. The results demonstrate that incorporating CFAR significantly mitigates the effects of clutter, ensuring precise range and velocity measurements even in challenging environments. The findings underscore the potential of advanced radar technologies to enhance the robustness and safety of ACC systems, paving the way for more reliable autonomous driving solutions.

    Antioxidant, analgesic and anti-inflammatory activities of the herb Eclipta Prostrate

    The present study was designed to investigate the antioxidant, analgesic and anti-inflammatory potential of the methanolic extract along with its organic soluble fractions of the herb Eclipta prostrata. In addition, total phenolic and flavonoid content and total antioxidant capacity were also determined. Antioxidant potential of the extract/fractions was evaluated by DPPH (1,1diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl), NO (nitric oxide) and ONOO- (peroxynitrite) scavenging assay method. Ethyl acetate fractions (EtOAc) showed highest scavenging activity in all the methods with IC50 value of 12.98±0.08, 45.98±0.07 and 14.45±0.18 μg mL-1 for DPPH, NO and ONOO- assay method, respectively. In reducing power assay, EtOAc fraction also showed significant (p<0.001) activity. Further, the extract/fractions were studied for their analgesic (hot plate, tail immersion and acetic acid induced writhing test) and anti-inflammatory (carrageenan induced paw edema in rats) activities at a dose level of 200 and 400 mg kg-1 body weight. Among all the extract/fractions, EtOAc fraction showed a dose dependent and significant (p<0.005, p<0.05) analgesic activity in all the tested method. EtOAc fractions also reduced the paw edema considerably (86.80% inhibition after 3 h, p<0.005, p<0.05) in dose dependent manner compared to carrageenan induced rat. Altogether, these results suggest that the MeOH extract and its organic soluble fractions could be used as a potential antioxidant, analgesic and anti-inflammatory agent

    Apparel supply chain optimization by developing e-commerce: An impact analysis

    Supply-chain optimization is the application of processes and tools to ensure the optimal operation of a manufacturing organization. The SCM is the spine of E-commerce, a very critical component of E-commerce. Supply chain efficiency means having the right product at the right place at the right time, can save money or reduce costs, and can enhance cash utilization. E-commerce plays a vital role on inventory management to keep the record electronically to avoid any information breach. In this paper, we have developed a database management system which would be centrally visualized by the partners of the apparel supply chain. Buyer can be able to place orders through this developed database system electronically which might save at least ordering cost, visit cost and 15 %-time savings of the total lead time. Furthermore, we have developed a system by which customer can buy surplus goods which remain after shipment has done with the cheapest cost and factory will not face any wastage of goods.

    Bio-inspired Heuristic Optimization-based Cascaded Network for Diabetic Retinopathy Screening

    Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a common yet fatal complication of diabetic patients in which high levels of blood sugar damage the blood vessels in the retina, the light-sensitive eye tissue crucial for human vision. Early detection and timely intervention are essential to managing DR and preventing severe vision loss. Traditionally, the examination is performed by ophthalmologists manually examining the retinal fundus images to check for signs of DR. This approach is helpful but subjective, time-consuming and tedious. Artificial intelligence (AI)-guided computer vision has recently become very compelling and practical for image analysis and diagnosis. Existing AI-based methods achieved sufficient accuracy at the cost of high computing resources and large datasets. This paper proposes a cascaded network incorporating deep learning and the traditional machine learning approaches with a bio-inspired heuristic optimization algorithm for DR detection from fundus images. The proposed method achieved sufficient accuracy (97.1%) when trained using limited data and low computing machines. The AI models for the cascaded networks were selected through an exhaustive search in which five popular CNN models were used for extracting features; the Bacterial foraging optimization (BFO) was used to determine optimal features, and seven traditional machine models were used to detect the DR. The ResNet50-BFO-SVC cascaded network was found to be most suitable in this study. The proposed cascaded network brings efficiency, accuracy, scalability, and robustness to DR screening. © 2024 IEEE.

    Corruption disclosure practices of Islamic and conventional financial firms in Bangladesh: the moderating role of Big4

    Purpose: Corporate corruption reporting (CCR) is an emerging issue of the corporation for measuring transparency, integrity and accountability to the stakeholders and society. The purpose of this paper is to examine the role of CCR and financial management responsibility regarding the issue of corruption control. Design/methodology/approach: To explore the influences of corruption disclosure, this study considers the keywords-based content analysis of the listed financial firms of the Dhaka Stock Exchange in Bangladesh for 2012–2016. The research considers stakeholders and theoretical legitimacy lens for discussing corporate corruption disclosure. This study identified 143 self-driven keywords by classifying, analyzing and selecting the appropriate large set of keywords from the prior literature. This study examines 247 firm-year observations of all financial firms in Bangladesh using secondary data sources. Findings: The results of the hierarchical regression analysis report that financial firms following Sharia principles have a negative and significant association with CCR, while Big4 has a positive and significant influence. Moreover, the interaction effect of Big4 on the relationship between Sharia principles and CCR is negative and insignificant. The findings reported that Islamic financial firms disclose less corruption information than conventional financial firms in Bangladesh. Practical implications: This study findings are expected to significantly impact corporate management and policymakers of developing and highly corrupted economies to enhance corporate accountability, transparency and reputation. The regulatory body can consider the findings to promulgate anti-corruption reporting rules and regulations. Originality/value: The authors believe the theoretical lens used to support the method and findings of this paper are unique and novel.

    Medicinal Plant Classification Using Particle Swarm Optimized Cascaded Network

    Medicinal plants are essential to healthcare since ancient times and are integral to developing drugs and other medical treatments. More than 25% of medicines in developed countries are produced from medicinal plants, while in developing countries, approximately 80% of individuals receive primary healthcare from these plants. Traditionally, these plants are identified manually by experts, which is tedious, time-consuming, subjective and dependent on the availability of experts. Furthermore, a wrong detection can result in serious health issues or death. This signifies the need for a more reliable approach to identifying medicinal plants, which is accurate and practical. Several automated methods were proposed previously, utilizing deep learning and traditional machine learning (TML) techniques, but they require singular leaf images and failed to achieve sufficient accuracy when demonstrated in a different setting. Capturing singular leaf images for each plant is also time-consuming and laborious. This paper presents a robust, accurate and practical system to identify medicinal plants from smartphone-captured plant images in the site of plants. The proposed system utilized a cascaded architecture to extract features using a pre-trained ResNet50 model, which were optimized using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) to classify the plants using a Support Vector Machine (SVM). The proposed ResNet50-PSO-SVM network classified seven medicinal plants with 99.60% accuracy, outperforming the state-of-the-art (99%). The system was demonstrated for three different smartphones, classifying an image in 0.15 seconds with 97.79% accuracy on average. The system's high accuracy, rapid identification time and robustness ensured its practical use.

    Online classes for higher education in Bangladesh during the COVID-19 pandemic: a perception-based study

    Purpose: The main purpose of this paper is to find out the perception of different respondents' groups related to the factors that influence the online learning for higher education in Bangladesh during the COVID-19 pandemic. Design/methodology/approach: A survey through a structured questionnaire was conducted to gather qualitative information from the 250 respondents (university students, faculty members and administrative officers) in Bangladesh. A questionnaire has been used for collecting primary data, which have been selected using the justification method under the non-probability sampling technique. Findings: The findings of this study indicated that majority of the respondents told that online classes could be more challenging than the traditional classroom because of the technological constraints, digital divide, insufficient data pack to access the material to attend the class, poor connectivity, lack of device, poor learning environment, technophobia, delayed response and incapability of the teacher to handle efficiently the material and communication machineries. Research limitations/implications: Due to time restriction and the COVID-19 pandemic, the study was constrained only to Dhaka region in Bangladesh. Practical implications: The outcomes of the work can be supportive to the governing bodies and proprietors of the higher schooling organizations who are forecasting to adopt online education as a consistent movement in the future. Originality/value: At last, based on outcomes, investigators have presented some recommendations that can be taken into consideration at policy level. The study would help universities to comply with the pressing need to impart experiential learning through online education during the COVID-19 pandemic

    Ownership distribution and value of the banks in Bangladesh

    The purpose of this paper is to investigate empirically the relationship between ownership distribution and value of the banks in the banking sectors of Bangladesh, with a special attention to the identity of the ownership distribution (foreign ownership, institutional ownership, director ownership and public ownership). The empirical study is conducted using a sample of 30 banks from the period 2012–2016. Regression analyses are conducted to test the impact of the relationship between the ownership distribution and value of the banks. The results show that director ownership and public ownership both are positive relationship with return on assets (ROA) and return on equity (ROE) but there is no significant relationship with foreign ownership and institutional ownership. The findings provided useful information to policy makers, investors and bank managers. The value of the banks can be improved by identifying practices associated with ownership structure.

    Red Spinach-A New and Innovative Power Source

    Different plants extracts have been proven that they are the potential for electricity generation. By immerging two electrodes into the extract to allow flow of ions and then electricity is produced. Different types of electrodes and plant leaves suggested that current and voltage are produced greater or lesser extents where Zn/Cu-based electrodes and PKL extract generates the maximum power output. The results confirmed that electrochemistry is the responsible for electricity generation. LED bulb lighting system using red spinach (Amaranthus dubius) extract with and without copper sulphate solution $$({\text{CuSO}}:{4} \cdot 5{\text{H}}_{2} {\text{O)}}$$. Bio-electrochemical systems show the process of electrical power generation or achieve the reduction reaction with a certain potential poised through electron transfer between the electron acceptor and electron donor. In a Zn/Cu bio-electrochemical cell, the zinc plate losses the electrons, the copper plate gains those electrons and the electrons react with H+ and Cu2+ ions and eventually convert into H2 and Cu atoms. Finally, H2 releases from the cell and copper atoms are deposited onto the Cu plate. The experimental was conducted with and without adding copper sulphate solution $${\text{CuSO}}:{4} \cdot 5{\text{H}}_{2} {\text{O}}$$ with red spinach extract. A comparative study has been done for with and without secondary salt $$({\text{CuSO}}:{4} \cdot 5{\text{H}}_{2} {\text{O)}}$$. It is found that the internal resistance has been decreased for using copper sulphate as a secondary salt and it was from 0.347 to 0.33 Ω. As a result current has been increased from 1.8 to 7.7 mA and obviously power has been increased from 5.76 to 20.2 mW.

    Studies on Synthesis, Characterization, and Monitoring of Ag NPs for Power Production Using Tomato

    In this research paper, tomato extract has been synthesized and characterized for Ag NPs. This synthesized Ag NPs have been used for power production. This produced Ag NPs using tomato extract are very useful and eco-friendly. Different characterizations have been conducted UV-visible spectroscopy, FTIR, XRD, and FESEM. It is found that the absorption peak at around 428 nm for UV-visible spectrum. It is also found that the biomolecule compounds were responsible for the reduction and capping material of silver nanoparticles using FTIR spectra. It is also found that the particles to be crystalline in nature by XRD study, with a face-centered cubic (FCC) structure. The power production activity of Ag NPs was assessed to find their potential use in electrochemical cell. It is found that the open circuit voltage (Voc), short circuit current (Isc), and maximum power (Pmax) were better for using Ag NPs from the tomato extract of a single electrochemical cell.
