    A novel approach to produce neppy yarn in vortex spinning technology

    A novel, cost-effective method for producing neppy yarn using the vortex spinning process was presented in this research. The vortex and ring spinning processes were utilized to produce 26/1 Ne neppy yarn from viscose rayon as a host fiber and polyester as a neppy fiber in three different ratios (98/2, 97/3, and 96/4). It was explored that neppy yarn produced by the vortex spinning system is aesthetically more appealing as it has very low hairiness, fewer coefficient of variation (CV%), and minimal thick and thin places compared to ring-spun neppy yarn. However, the count strength product (CSP) of the vortex-spun neppy yarn is comparatively lower than that of the ring-spun neppy yarn. The close engagement of the neppy fibers to the mother yarn in a vortex spinning system increased the neppy yarn’s aesthetic beauty and strengthened its endurance was a significant discovery of this study. The hairiness value of neppy yarns was measured numerically and evaluated statistically with one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and found significant differences between the two-spinning system. The adoption of the vortex spinning technique presents novel approaches for manufacturing neppy yarn, with potential advantages for the textile industry such as enhanced yarn quality, greater productivity, fewer machinery requirements, and ultimate cost-effectiveness.

    A Study on Development of PKL Power

    The PKL electricity is included under biomass electricity. The scientific name of PKL is Bryophillum pinnatum Leaf. PKL means Pathor Kuchi Leaf, which is the local name in Bangladesh. It is a very innovative technology in the present world. It has been developed the electricity from PKL in Bangladesh first. That is why sometimes it is called “Bangla Electricity” by somebody. In the present study, it has been found the open-circuit voltage (Voc), short-circuit current (Isc), maximum power (Pmax), voltage drop for different loads, consuming voltage, consuming current pattern for different loads of 1-KW PKL micro (Pathor Kuchi Leaf)-power system. The variation of load voltage (VL), load current (IL), and load power (PL) with the variation of time have also been studied. Most of the results have been tabulated and graphically discussed.

    Design of a Ladybug Shaped Circular Polarized Microstrip Antenna at 5.8 GHz as Microwave Power Transmitter to a MAV

    This paper is based on a circular polarized microstrip patch antenna which is designed for microwave power transmission with resonating frequency of 5.8 GHz. The radiating patch of the antenna is based on a dual feed elliptical patch which is modified by adding quarter wavelength resonators and circular slots. The resultant patch resembles to a ladybug and hence the name 'Ladybug antenna'. The designed antenna has a gain of 6.88 dB and return loss of 25dB. It has 0.48 dB axial ratio at 5.8 GHz which shows that it has good circular polarization. The Ladybug antenna has omnidirectional radiation pattern which is suitable for short range MPT operation of Micro Aerial Vehicles (MAV).

    Effect of core material draft ratio and denier on core spun yarn and denim fabric properties pre and post washing

    Core-spun yarn (CSY) is utilized for better fabric characteristics like stretchability, durability, and comfortability. The study aims to investigate the influence of spandex drafts of core-spun yarn on denim fabric characteristics before and after washing treatment. Two types of denim fabrics were produced from two types of core-spun yarn, namely 16 + 40D, and 16 + 70D by applying 2.8, 3.0, 3.20 spandex drafts for 16 + 40D, and 3.40, 3.50, 3.60 spandex drafts for 16 + 70D. Prepared denim fabrics were desized, and acid-washed and the properties of denim fabric before and after washing were investigated as a function of spandex drafts and deniers. Accurate count, twist, and better elongation percentage were observed at 2.80 draft for 16 + 40D CSY and 3.4 draft for 16 + 70D CSY, but a higher imperfection index (IPI) value was obtained on those drafts. The strength of the denim fabric prepared with 16 + 40D CSY and 16 + 70D CSY were higher at 2.8 and 3.6 drafts, respectively. Higher shrinkage (%), ends per inch (EPI), and fabric weight of denim fabric was obtained after washing compared to before washing. The width of both fabrics decreased when the fabric was washed. Exploring various drafts of core material and their correlations with yarn and fabric properties provides valuable insights for textile manufacturers seeking to produce denim fabrics with optimum quality.

    Investigation of comfort characteristics of knitted fabric produced from neppy yarn

    Fabric made from fancy yarn, especially neppy yarn has a great environmental impact because the fabric does not need any additional dyeing process. This study involved knitting neppy yarn of two distinct spinning processes, vortex and ring spinning, each having three different percentages of neps. The comfort properties of six different fabrics were evaluated by analyzing various parameters, including moisture management properties, water vapor transmission rate, air permeability, hand feel properties, and bursting strength. Microscopic views were also examined for analyzing the physical appearance of the fabric’s surface. The experimental results revealed that fabrics made from vortex-spun neppy yarn (VSNY) exhibit better moisture management, breathability, and hand feel properties than ring-spun neppy yarn (RSNY). Alternatively, bursting strength and water vapor evaporation rate showed a lower trend in fabrics made from vortex-spun neppy yarn. The research findings contribute valuable insights into the potential of vortex spinning techniques for sustainable and comfortable textile production.
